Patient Table Horizontal (PTH) Adjustment


Introduction
This procedure guides the user step-by-step through the horizontal couch calibration process using the CANpro Diagnostic Tool.
The parts of the procedure are:

• System Preparation
• Tabletop Adjustment
• Tabletop Support Adjustment
• Verifying Couch Accuracy

Tools Required:
• 2.5mm and 3mm Allen wrenches
• Alignment Pin (see Figure 5-165)
• Mechanical Alignment Bar (see Figure 5-167)

NOTE:

Use the long end of the Alignment Pin for the table top adjustment. To conveniently store the
Alignment Pin when not being used, insert the short end in the Mechanical Adjustment Bar.
Do not activate the rear release switch or the foot switch during the adjustment process.
If the adjustment process is interrupted for any reason, repeat the procedure from the
beginning.

System Preparation:
1. Position the table vertically until the gantry display reads 125 and then turn power OFF.
2. Remove the Rear Safety Cover from the Patient Table (see Figure 5-166).

3. Slide the table top in until the six screws holding the electronics cover are visible. Remove the plate that covers the patient
table electronics (between the tabletop and tabletop support) and slide the cover out of the table.

4. Move the table top support to its maximum outermost position.


5. Move the table top to the outer adjust position (see Figure 5-167).

6. Remove the plastic end cap (two screws hold this in position).
7. Mount the mechanical adjustment bar (barely finger-tight) where the plastic end cap was mounted. This allows the bar
to be moved left or right.
8. Ensure that the alignment pin is against (and centered with) the outer alignment tab and tighten the screws.
9. After the table is in position, remove the alignment pin. Make sure the Tabletop is in the maximum outermost position.

10. Power up the system.


11. Login as md to start the application software.
12. After the Patient Data Screen is displayed, select Logout from the File menu and Yes to log out from the Host.

NOTE:

For CANpro 8/7.5, verify that the scenarios from the host were transferred to the laptop computer
(check in the CANpro folder).

13. If CANpro is not already running, start CANpro


— For CANpro 8/7.5: Create a new protocol file. From the File menu, select New | Protocol and click Create.
14. Start CANpro monitoring.
15. Verify that the system is in standby:
— CANpro 8/7.5: From the Monitor menu, select Gantry Status. The System state is displayed at the top (see
Figure 5-168).

16. If the system is not in standby, press the Stop button on the CT Box (Scan Control Unit) and select the following
Software-dependent actions:
— CANpro 8/7.5: Click the “Send Reset Telegram” button (upper right-hand side of Toolbar). Watch for the CAN
message “Reset Done” and the arrows above the motion control buttons on the CT Box (Scan Control Unit) to light up.

Tabletop Adjustment
1. Load and then start the following scenario:
— CANpro 8/7.5: c:\canpro\machines\"name of site"\scenarios\adjust\phs\Pth_adj.tsc
2. The system prompts you to “Confirm for premeasurement”. Click OK.
3. The system prompts you to “Move table top by hand to the outer adjust position”. Move the table top by hand to the outer
adjust position and click OK.
4. The system prompts you to “Confirm for the outer position adjust”. Click OK.

5. The system prompts you to “Move table top by hand to the inner adjust position”. Move the table top by hand to the inner
adjust position as shown in Figure 5-169. Remove the pin when the table is correctly positioned.

6. Click OK to acknowledge the prompt, click OK again to “Confirm for the inner position adjust”.
7. The system prompts you to “Move table top by hand to the 7mm position”. Move the table top out as far as possible
(maximum outer position). Do not move the table to 7mm.
8. Reset the horizontal position by pressing the Zero button (bottom button on the gantry control panel).
9. Move the tabletop by hand until the display reads –7.5mm. Click OK.
10. The system prompts you to “Confirm for the tabletop adjust”. Click OK.

NOTE:

The program now makes calculations and increments the couch automatically.

11. The system prompts you to “Wait for the LS command from MCU to ICS”.
12. Click OK when the LS (Loaded Scan) command from MCU to ICS appears on the CANpro display. Refer to Figure 5-169.

NOTE:

The scenario is not finished running at this point in the procedure.

13. Procede to Section "Tabletop Support Adjustment".

Tabletop Support Adjustment


1. The scenario prompts you to “Move the table top support by hand to the outer position”. Move the tabletop support if
necessary and click OK.
2. The system prompts you to “Confirm for the top support adjust”. Click OK.

NOTE:

The program now makes calculations and increments the couch automatically.

3. The system prompts you to “Wait for the LS 0x00 command from MCU to ICS”.
4. Click OK when the LS command from MCU to ICS appears on the CANpro display (see Fig. 5-169).
5. The system prompts you to “Open the stop circuit by pressing the STOP button”. Press the STOP button on the CT Box
and click OK.
6. The system prompts you to “Confirm for flash load”. Click OK.
7. The system prompts:
"Horizontal Couch Calibration finished". Click OK.
8. Proceed to Section "Verifying Couch Accuracy".

Verifying Couch Accuracy


1. Cycle power to the Gantry and login as md.
2. When the Gantry is in standby, move the Patient Table to its maximum outer position with the Table OUT button on the
Gantry Front Cover.
3. Reset the display to zero by pressing the Zero button on the Gantry Front Cover.
4. Move the Patient Table to its maximum inner position with the Table IN button on the Gantry Front Cover.
5. Verify that the Gantry display reads -2001 mm.
6. Reset the display to zero.
7. Move the Patient Table to its maximum outer position with the Table Out button on the Gantry Front Cover.
8. Verify that the Gantry display reads 2001 mm.
9. Horizontal Couch Calibration is complete.
10. Power down the system.
11. Remove the Mechanical Adjustment Bar and replace all covers.
