Soratami Savant
Moonfolk Jim Nelson
The Moonfolk are a mystical race of humanoids known
for their ethereal beauty and deep connection to the
night sky. They live in remote mountain villages, far
from the bustling world below, where they lead a
tranquil and contemplative existence. Their lives are
marked by silence, stargazing, and a profound sense of
otherworldliness.
Isolated Lifestyle
Moonfolk society revolves around their quiet, nocturnal
lifestyle. They communicate primarily through hand
gestures, body language, and facial expressions, as their
voices are often soft and whispery. These reclusive
people spend their nights observing the stars, which
they believe can reveal the future. Their villages, nestled
high in the mountains, are serene and isolated, allowing
them to gaze at the heavens without obstruction.
Striking Appearance
Moonfolk are slender and graceful, with pale skin that
can have subtle tints of pink or blue. Their skin is
smooth, covered in tiny, barely perceptible scales. They
have large, fish-like tails and long, pointed ears. Their
hair is most often ivory white, and their eyes are a
striking pale blue with vertically slit pupils. Moonfolk
men often have small, scale-like spines along their
jawline, while older Moonfolk grow elegant, antelope-
like horns.
Uncertain History
Moonfolk are believed to be descendants of a magical
union between merfolk and land-dwellers. Their ability
to read the stars and glimpse the future has made them
both revered and cursed. Legends say a powerful being,
envious of their foresight, rendered them nearly mute
and drove them to the mountains. This isolation has
only deepened their connection to the stars and their
reputation as enigmatic seers.

Moonfolk Traits
Ability Score Increase. Your Dexterity, Intelligence,
Wisdom, or Charisma score increases by 2, and your
Constitution score increases by 1.
Age. Moonfolk mature at the same rate as humans but
can live for over a thousand years, appearing youthful
throughout their lives.
Alignment. Most Moonfolk are neutral or good, living
quiet lives focused on contemplation and harmony.
Size. Moonfolk are slender and slightly taller than
humans, standing between 5 and 7 feet tall. Your size is
Medium.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Darkvision. Accustomed to the night sky, you have
superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see
in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright
light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t
discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Lunar Levitation. You gain a flying speed of 30 feet and
the ability to hover. However, you cannot fly higher than
5 feet above the ground with this trait.
Aquatic Winds. You can cast the Zephyr Strike spell
with this trait, without expending a spell slot. When you
cast it this way, the advantage it gives also applies to
spell attacks. Once you cast this spell with this trait, you
can’t do so again until you finish a long rest. You can
also cast this spell using any spell slots you have of the
appropriate level, with the same benefit to spell attacks.
Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting
ability for this spell when you cast it with this trait
(choose when you select this race).
Predestination. Whenever a hostile creature that you
can see makes an attack roll or a saving throw, you can
declare a number from 1 to 20 (no reaction required). If
the creature rolls that number on its d20, you gain
advantage on the first attack roll or saving throw you
make until the end of your next turn, depending on
whether you predicted an attack roll or a saving throw,
respectively.
Enlightened. You gain proficiency in the Religion and
Arcana skills.
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common
and Celestial.
