Effect of Temperature To Matter

This detailed lesson plan for Science 3 focuses on the effect of temperature on matter, aiming for students to understand and describe changes in materials due to temperature variations. The lesson includes engaging activities, explanations of processes like melting, freezing, evaporation, condensation, and sublimation, and evaluation through a quiz. An assignment is also provided for students to illustrate temperature effects through pictures.

DETAILED LESSON PLAN – SCIENCE 3

I. OBJECTIVES
a. Content Standards:
The learner demonstrates understanding of effect of temperature to matter
b. Performance Standard:
The learner should be able to investigate the different changes in materials affected by
temperature.
c. Learning Competency/Objectives:
The learner should be able to describe changes in materials based in the effect of temperature.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

TITLE: Effect of Temperature to Matter
MATERIALS: Television, PowerPoint, Laptop

III. PROCEDURES
A. Elicit
 Greetings
 Prayer
 Greet the students then ask them to set properly and keep quiet.
B. Engage

:Hot or Cold? Let's Explore!

Start by asking questions:

“What do you think will happen if we leave this ice in the warm room?”

“Have you ever left chocolate in the sun? What happened?”

“Why do we put ice cream in the freezer?”

Let them share their thoughts. Then say:

“Today, we’re going to learn something exciting — how heat and cold can change things around us!
Temperature can make things melt, freeze, or even turn into gas. Let’s become little scientists and find
out how it all works

C. Explain

Melting – this is the process in which a solid changes its form into liquid.
Examples: Ice cube to water
Freezing – this process is the change from liquid to gas
Examples: water to ice cube
Evaporation – when water is boiled in a kettle, hot gas called “steam” or “vapor” comes out. This change
from liquid to gas.
Condensation – when some gases are cooled, their particles slow down and change to liquid
Sublimation – some solids do not melt. They change from their solid state directly to gas.
Examples: mothballs
D. Elaborate
 What are the 5 possible effects of Temperature to matter?
 What is the difference of Melting and Freezing?
 What is the difference of Evaporation to Condensation?
IV. Evaluate

Directions: Choose the correct answer.

1. What happens when ice gets warm?

A. It freezes
B. It melts
C. It boils
D. It stays the same

2. What do we call it when water turns into ice?

A. Melting
B. Evaporation
C. Freezing
D. Condensation

3. Which one shows evaporation?

A. Ice turning into water
B. Water turning into gas
C. Water turning into ice
D. Steam turning into water

4. What happens during condensation?

A. Water turns into gas
B. Ice turns into water
C. Gas turns into water
D. Water turns into ice

5. What is it called when solid turns into gas without becoming liquid?
A. Freezing
B. Melting
C. Condensation
D. Sublimation
Correct Answers:
1. B. it melts
2. C. Freezing
3. B. water turning into gas
4. C. Gas turns into water
5. D. Sublimation

V. Extend

Assignment: Cut three pictures paste it in a clean bond paper and name it if what will happen when we
use temperature whether its Freezing, Melting, Evaporation, Condensation or Sublimation
