Parts of Prescription:
An ideal prescription should have the following parts:
1. Doctor`s name and Address: qualifications Clinic/Residence Contact no.
2. Date
3. Patient`s name age sex and address

4.SUPERSCRIPTION: - More commonly Rx is thought to be an abbreviation of a latin


word “Receipe” it means ‘take thou’ or ‘you take please’ and order to the pharmacist
or dispenser for preparing medicines. - Rx may be derived from the egyptian “eye of
horus” symbol denoting health or may be a symbolic appeal by physians to the god
Jupiter[Godof knowledge, learning and healing] for the prescription’s succes.

5.Inscription: -Body of the prescription consisting of the official names and amounts
of a)Basis– chief ingredient b)Adjuvants(if any)– secondary active drugs to assist
the action of the basis. c)Corrigents/Corrective (if any)– to correct undesirable
quality or action of the basis. d)Solvent/Vehicle/excipient – to give suitable form
of administration.
6.Subscription: - Subscription provide direction to the pharmacist/dispenser.

7.Transcription/Signa/Signatura: - -Direction to the patient contains


instruction about the amount of drug, time and frequency of doses to be
taken.

8.Signature: -Prescription should be signed by the prescriber.

and add Diloxanide with it.
❖ *- Don’t prescribe Metronidazole to a chronic alcoholic as it will
precipitate Disulfiram-like reaction. Give Satranidazole
(300mg * BDPC * 7 days) to alcoholics.
❖ Diloxanide kills the luminal cysts that can’t be killed by
Metronidazole.
❖ Metronidazole is the drug of choice for Giardiasis, Trichomonas
