Tea Party

Finished Measurements:
Teapot is approximately 5.5” tall and 5.5”
wide. Teacups are approx. 3/5” wide and
2.5” tall. Saucers are approx. 4.5” in
diameter.

Materials:
Pair of 12 mm safety eyes (teapot) Straight pins
2 pairs of 9mm safety eyes (teacups) Polyfill
Bernat premium yarn in: baby lilac, robin’s Stitch marker
egg, and pink macaroon Cardboard for bottom of teapot and tops of
Craftsmart yarn in: amethyst, turquoise, teacups
and fuschia Scissors
Black embroidery floss Pencil for tracing on cardboard
4.0mm hook
Yarn needles, preferably with curved ends.

Abbreviations:
Sc – single crochet Sl st – slip stitch
St – stitch Hdc – half double crochet
Inc – increase Dc – double crochet
Ch - chain Dec - decrease

Notes:
The different pieces of this design are all worked continuously in rounds, unless specifically
noted. Use a stitch marker at the end of each row to note where the row ends.
For yarn, any worsted weight yarn will work, in any color that is preferred. Each cup and the
teapot are made with two colors, a main and a contrast color. As the pattern can be worked in
whatever color is preferred, the directions below refer to main color (the darker or brighter
color) and a contrast color (lighter or paler color).

The Pattern:

Teacup – make 2:
Cup:
Row 1: With the main color, 6 sc into magic ring (6).
Row 2: 2 sc into each st around (12).
Row 3: *1 sc, inc* repeat around (18).
Row 4: *2 sc, inc* repeat around (24).
Row 5: *3 sc, inc* repeat around (30).
Row 6 – 9: sc in each st around (30).
Row 10: *4 sc, inc* repeat around (36).
Row 11 – 12: sc in each st around (36).
Row 13: *5 sc, inc* repeat around (42).
Fasten off and weave in tail. Insert safety eyes about midway up the cup and embroider
mouth.

Inside of Cup (“Liquid”):


Row 1: With contrast color, sc 6 into magic ring (6).
Row 2: 2 sc in each st around (12).
Row 3: *1 sc, inc* repeat around (18).
Row 4: *2 sc, inc* repeat around (24).
Row 5: *3 sc, inc* repeat around (30).
Row 6: *4 sc, inc* repeat around (36).

Fasten off and leave long tail for sewing. Stuff cup. Trace circle of cardboard or boxboard
slightly smaller than the circular piece and place on top of stuffing. Place liquid piece on top of
this and sew onto the second last row of the cup to leave a rim.

Handle:
Note: This piece is worked in rows, not rounds.
Row 1: In main color, ch 12.
Row 2: In 3rd ch from hook, dc. Dc in each ch across (10).
Sew handle on in a half heart shape.

Saucer – make 2:

Bottom:
Row 1: With main color sc 6 st into a magic ring (6).
Row 2: 2 sc into each st around (12).
Row 3: *1 sc, inc* repeat around (18).
Row 4: *2 sc, inc* repeat around (24).
Row 5: *3 sc, inc* repeat around (30).
Row 6: *4 sc, inc* repeat around (36).
Row 7: *5 sc, inc* repeat around (42).
Row 8: *6 sc, inc* repeat around (48).
Row 9: *sc in each st around* (48).

Sl st into next stitch, and fasten off. Weave in end.

Top:

Follow the instructions for row 1-8 above (bottom), but with contrast color. Sl st to smooth
into a round circle, then fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

With right side out for both pieces, centre the top within the bottom so that a little bit of the
main color shows all around, like a rim. Sew together and weave in ends.

Teapot:

Body:
Row 1: With main color, sc 6 st into a magic ring (6).
Row 2: 2 sc into each st around (12).
Row 3: *1 sc, inc* repeat around (18).
Row 4: *2 sc, inc* repeat around (24).
Row 5: *3 sc, inc* repeat around (30).
Row 6: *4 sc, inc* repeat around (36).
Row 7: *5 sc, inc* repeat around (42).
Row 8: In back loop only, sc in each st around (42).
Row 9-10: Sc in each st around (42).
Row 11: In front loops only, *6 sc, inc* repeat around (48).
Row 12: *7 sc, inc* repeat around (54).

Row 13: *8 sc, inc* repeat around (60).
Row 14-20: Sc in each st around (60).
Row 21: *8 sc, dec* repeat around (54).
Row 22: *7 sc, dec* repeat around (48).
Row 23: *6 sc, dec* repeat around (42).
Row 24: *5 sc, dec* repeat around (36).
Row 25A: In front loops only, *5 sc, inc* (42).
Row 26A: Sc in each st around (42).

Fasten off and weave tail in. Attach 12 mm safety eyes and embroider mouth with black thread
or embroidery floss. For added stability of base, use teapot bottom to trace a circle of
cardboard. Cut out the circle and place inside bottom before stuffing.

Row 25B: In back loops of row 25, with contrast color, sc 36 sts around (36).
Row 26B: *4 sc, dec* repeat around (30).
Row 27: *3 sc, dec* repeat around (24).

Start stuffing with polyfill and stuff as you go.

Row 28: *2 sc, dec* repeat around (18).


Row 29: *1 sc, dec* repeat around (12).
Row 30: Dec around (6).

Fasten off and sew hole closed. Hide tail inside.

Lid:
Row 1: In main color (same color as the teapot), sc 6 into a magic ring (6).
Row 2: 2 sc in each st around (12).
Row 3: *1 sc, inc* repeat around (18).
Row 4: *2 sc, inc* repeat around (24).
Row 5: *3 sc, inc* repeat around (30).
Row 6: *4 sc, inc* repeat around (36).
Row 7: In back loops only, sc in each st around (36).
Row 8: Sc in each st around (36).
Row 9: *2 sc, dec* repeat around (27).
Row 10: *1 sc, dec* (18).
Row 11: *1 sc, dec* (12).
Row 12: dec around (6).

Fasten off and close hole. Weave in tail.
Handle for teapot lid:

Row 1: With main color, 6 sc into magic ring (6).


Row 2-4: 6 sc in each st around (6).

Fasten off and leave tail. Sew onto top centre of teapot lid.

Note: this piece is worked in rows, not rounds.
Row 1: Ch 20. In 3rd ch from hook, hdc across (18).
Row 2: Ch 2, turn. 18 hdc across.

Fasten off and leave tail for sewing. Attach to body of teapot in a half-heart shape.

Spout:
Row 1: With contrast color, sc 6 into magic ring (6).
Row 2: Sc 2 in each st around (12).
Row 3: Change yarn color to main color. In back loops only, 12 sc around (12).
Row 4: *2 sc, dec* repeat around (9).
Row 5-6: Sc in each st around (9).
Row 7: *2 sc, inc* repeat around (12).
Row 8: 4 sc, *2 sc in each st* repeat 4 times, 4 sc (16).
Row 9: Sc in each st around (16).
Row 10-11: 4 sc, 8 dc, 4 sc (16).

Fasten off and leave long tail for sewing.


Stuff and sew to side of teapot opposite
the handle. Hide tail inside.
