Chapter 5
Summary, Findings, Conclusion, and Recommendations
This chapter discusses the summary and conclusion based on the data obtained in
Chapter 4. This chapter also includes the findings and recommendations of the study.
Summary
The purpose of this research study is to assess the impact of class size on the
academic performance of Grade 11 students at Liceo de Masbate. Initial findings suggest that
class size influences students’ academic engagement, with smaller classes potentially
fostering a more interactive and participative learning environment. The results showed that
smaller classes provide personalized attention which enhances their understanding of
subjects, while larger classes provide diverse perspectives and experiences. The findings
showed that there is an evident relationship between the class size and academic performance
of the students.
Conclusion
After the data were analyzed and interpreted, the researchers conclude that class size
impacts the academic performance of the Grade 11 students at Liceo de Masbate,
emphasizing the need for a tailored educational approach that considers the diverse
preferences and learning styles of the students.
Recommendations
This study can be further improved by assessing the impact of class size on the
academic performance of the students by administering self-report questionnaires (checklist)
before, during, and after being exposed in smaller and larger class sizes. Also, future
researchers should take into consideration other factors that affect class size.
Abstract
Class size has been one of the major problems in the Philippine education system. The
average class size as issued by the Department of Education is fifty (50) students per
classroom. Class size showed potential impact on student engagement and academic
performance. The aim of this research study is to assess the impact of class size on the
academic performance of Grade 11 students at Liceo de Masbate. By utilizing an
experimental research design, this study will employ quantitative research method to be able
to assess the impact of class size to students’ academic performance. Initial findings suggest
that class size influences students’ academic engagement, with smaller classes potentially
fostering a more interactive and participative learning environment. The results showed that
smaller classes provide personalized attention which enhances their understanding of
subjects, while larger classes provide diverse perspectives and experiences. Therefore, class
size impacts the academic performance of Grade 11 students at Liceo de Masbate,
emphasizing the need for a tailored educational approach that considers the diverse
preferences and learning styles of the students.
