Personal Narrative-A Humorous Journey
As I sit on the stage of the most prestigious music hall in the world, Carnegie Hall, with my cello
in between my legs and bow in hand, the conductor raises his baton. He cues me along with 150
symphony players dressed in uniform black tuxedos and gowns. I was unbelievably nervous,
sitting second chair for hundreds to see; we opened with, The Marriage of Figaro composed by
Mozart. I had been preparing for this contest, this moment, all year and now it was finally upon me.
When I was in the third grade, our districts high school orchestra teacher accompanied by a few
high school players, came to my elementary class to inform us about stringed instruments because
the next year was the first year I could play in the orchestra. It never crossed my mind that I
wanted to play in orchestra until that day. I recall hearing the mellow, eloquent sound of the cello
and absolutely falling in love with it. I knew I wanted to be just like the high schoolers and wanted
to become just as good as them. When I first began to play the cello, it was difficult. I had never met
something that required so much ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
High school orchestra was a whole new level, with much more challenging music and much higher
expectations. Freshman year I began in the back of the cello section, behind upperclassmen. I
knew I was better than that and had to prove myself. The following year, I was now the 1st chair
cellist, the Principle, of the Anderson High School Philharmonic orchestra. Later in the year, our
orchestras got invited to participate in a winter festival in New York City and play in Carnegie Hall.
Everyone was euphoric, being able to go to New York City and play in the Carnegie Hall is a very
prestigious honor to anyone. We worked hard to master all of our musical pieces. But there was
one problem, The Marriage of Figaro . The song is a living nightmare for cellos, but we didn t give
Mesothelioma Diagnosis
Getting a Mesothelioma Diagnosis
By Nick Johnson
Mar 3, 2008
When a person gets a mesothelioma diagnosis, he or she is understandably upset and confused.
Much of this comes from the fact that a diagnosis is often completely unexpected. This kind of
diagnosis usually comes from exposure to asbestos. Cases with no asbestos exposure are so rare as
to hardly ever be mentioned.

Even a mesothelioma diagnosis itself is rather rare, because the disease does not occur that often.
For individuals who do receive a diagnosis, though, it can be very devastating. In addition, it can be
very difficult on their families and friends, who feel that they are faced with potentially losing a
loved one.

A diagnosis, however, is not a death sentence. People have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A person experiencing the symptoms of mesothelioma shortness of breath, feeling tired, and chest
pain should not wait to be checked out by a doctor. Getting a diagnosis early on in the progression
of the disease is crucial to getting treatment, and rapid treatment is one of the ways to help a person
have the best chance of beating the disease and surviving.

A mesothelioma diagnosis is often so unexpected because it can occur even twenty or thirty years
after the person was exposed to asbestos, and sometimes longer than that. Some of these people may
have completely forgotten that they were even exposed to asbestos, but their bodies have not
forgotten, and asbestos fibers can get into the lungs and other areas of the body and remain there,
irritating the area until mesothelioma eventually develops.

People who are diagnosed, however, should be aware that there are choices for treatment. Sometimes
surgery to remove the mesothelioma itself along with some of the surrounding tissue is important.
Other times, radiation treatment of chemotherapy is deemed the best choice. The determination is
usually made by a doctor and comes from information about the diagnosis itself.

In other words where the mesothelioma is located, how far it has spread, and the overall health of the
patient all play a part in how to respond to a mesothelioma

All the entrees came just as we finished the wings and calamari. We had encountered difficulty
finishing the Caesar Salad. The combination of pepperoni, mushrooms, sausage, onions, green
peppers , black olives, ham and mozzarella complimented each other as the flavors and remnants
oozed out of the fresh dough. The red sauce that accompanied the Calzone had an extra hint of
garlic which is the aroma that is used in many of the dishes that came past our table. It was very
hard concentrating on what we order when all the dishes that came past us smelled and looked so
good. Dessert: Tiramisu and Double Chocolate Mousse Cake called from the menu. Since the meal
was so filling, we took our dessert home. The next morning the tiramisu was just as I expected with
the right amount of liqueur. My taste buds were not disappointed and although it was not intended
for breakfast, I was completely satisfied with my choice of desserts. They are a sponsor for the

Reflection On The Process Of Bid Glass
This was my first time ever doing stained glass. My goal for this class was to learn the process of
stained glass, grow in patience, and grow in appreciation for the art. With all of the different
aspects, I feel like this goal was met. The first part of the process was cutting the glass. For this,
the tools needed was a glass/ball cutter, running pliers, grozing pliers, and (of course) your glass.
Using the ball cutter, you make a score on the glass. This should only ever be done once. After
that is made, take the pliers to break the glass. The running pliers are used for straight lines What
you do is align the cut with the line on the pliers and pinch, and the glass should break. The
grozing pliers are used for non straight cuts. For this, you take the pliers in one hand and your
hand as the other and go on either side of the score, then break or snap it upwards. Throughout
this process I had a good amount of struggles. I first struggled with figuring out how to position
my hand, the amount of pressure that I should put on the glass, and the angle to put my hand.
Another struggle that I encountered was breaking off the glass that had a curved score. Sometimes
the glass wouldn t break, or other times the glass shattered . At one point I ended up deeply cutting
myself, but I went on with a makeshift band aid and got all of the pieces cut. After all the pieces
were cut, I went to the grinder and grinded them all. This didn t seem to challenge me at all, but
rather proved to
Donald Trump Stance On Immigration
Donald Trump I have read several articles pertaining to Donald Trump s stance on immigration. To
Trump, he believes that we need to put Americans first in all ways (jobs, government benefits, etc....)
and that we should put immigrants as second. In this way, President Trump is not abusing his
powers as president on the immigration issue. Trump does not say that he does not want immigrants
coming into the United States, he says that he wants to stop illegal immigrants from taking rights
and benefits away from Americans. From the Muslim ban to the wall, Trump has had many ideas on
how to stop illegal immigration to better the United States. Americans work very hard for the
benefits we receive; therefore, it should only go to Americans. Trump has stated that he wants to
become stricter on illegal immigrants in many ways. Trump has stated that he wants to regulate the
immigration prevention in order to lower the number of illegal immigrants that come into the United
Stated. In Eastern Washington University EWU Digital Commons article, I found a quote that states
a few things that Trump wants to change to fix the immigration problem. Trump wants to enhance
penalties for overstaying a visa and end welfare abuse, and to instill a requirement to hire American
workers first. This quote is telling about Trumps proposition that Americans should come first.
Trump wants to enhance the penalty for overstaying a visa because visas are widely used to come
to America to work. If you
Flory
Essay on Florianne by Daniel Woodrell

A horrific event may change life entirely. Even worse, an unsolved mystery regarding a loved one
may lead to despair and restrain a person from moving on. While knowing the truth may bring a
feeling of closure, inquietude and uneasiness may ensue uncertainty. The short story Florianne,
written by Daniel Woodrell, tells about a father whose entire life revolves around the mysterious
disappearance of his daughter. Even eleven years after she vanished he still hasn t begun to move on.
Throughout the story the reader may interpret the disappearance with different approaches. One may
either assume that the daughter was kidnapped, or that she ran away herself from her home and the
small town life. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Florianne comes from the word flora, which is the Latin word for flower. It s derived from the
word flos, with the meaning flower or blossom.. In the story there s described a change in
Florianne s character and behavior. The narrator says ... the girl ran to fat for so long, had a roly
poly figure until the year before she went gone...That meant so much to her, to finally have a figure
clothes looked good on (page 42, lines 4 10). Florianne blossomed before she vanished. Henry also
blames Florianne s weight gain on her mother while describing her figure as a roly poly figure. He
s to some extent (14:6) bullied Florianne and just a year before she disappeared she found the
strength and determination to change her body and her life. This course of action can be
interpreted as... She gains control over her life and in contrast to her father s self pity, she s going to
take action over her fate, just like her mother did.
Daniel Woodrell succeeds in creating a short story which forces the reader to consider different
scenarios. Paranoia and obsession are luring beneath the surface of a protagonist portrayed as a
desperate father unable to move on. Daniel Woodrell shows how a tragic event may consume a
person as well as leave said person in denial and without the opportunity to proceed. And while the
upfront possibility that the father is true in his assumption that his daughter was
How Did Clara Barton Contribute To The American Red Cross
Clara Barton is woman of many talents who used herself to help others. Clara Barton is most
known for being the founder of the American Red Cross. She also was one of the most influential
women during the civil war. However, it s more to Clara Barton than just the American Red Cross.
She was a woman who accomplished great things in an era where it wasn t common for women to
step up. Clara Bartonwas born on December 25, 1821 in North Oxford, Massachusetts (Bio, N/D).
At the young age of 15, Clara Barton began teaching in New Jersey (Bio, N/D). Shortly after she
opened up a free school, but resigned when a male was given the position as principle (Bio, N/D).
This is interesting because it was Clara Barton who built the school, but wasn t even appointed
principle. After teaching she moved to Washington, D.C. to pursue a career as a recording clerk
at the U.S. Patent office (Bio, N/D). Also, she was paid the same amount as her male co workers
which was not typical during this time (NWHM, N/D). This is another example of Clara breaking
genders roles. At the beginning of the Civil war, Barton gathered and delivered supplies for the
Union soldiers (Bio, N/D). Despite not having any prior medical training, Barton wanted to help

Her passion to get out on the battlefield most likely started from caring for her brother at the age of

Virginia (Bio, N/D). Clara Barton would help the wounded soldiers from the battles. Also,
throughout the war she was at all of the important battles in Maryland, Virginia, and South Carolina
(NWHM, N/D). She didn t neglect her duties no matter how tough the war became. Even until the
end of the war Clara Barton offered her services. At the end, Barton helped find missing soldiers,
and marked a numerous amount of grave sites (NWHM,
Is Hamlet Relevant Today
Hamlet is a tragedy by William Shakespeare about a prince and his life after his father is
murdered. He must avenge his father s death, by killing his uncle. He is in love with a girl, Ophelia,
who kills herself after prince Hamlet drives her insane. Hamlet kills the father of Ophelia
accidentally, upsetting Laertes, Ophelia s brother. Laertes and Hamletwere to have a duel by the
request of the king. Laertes tries to cheat in the duel, resulting in the death of Hamlet, Claudius
(Hamlet s uncle), Gertrude(Hamlet s mother), and Laertes. While this tragedy is very old, many of
the principals of Hamlet are still relevant in today s society due to the modern occurrences of
love, hatred, and revenge. In today s society suicide as a result of someone else actions is a very
common occurrence. In Hamlet, Ophelia is driven away from Hamlet because she is made to
believe that he loves her, and when he treats her poorly again and again, she begins to go crazy.
(Act 3 Scene 1) The subject behind this part of the tragedy seems to be a timeless tale. People will
always be hurt by others actions, especially... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Obviously, people will always die, but that is not that is all to the theme. Hamet fears death at the
beginning of the play. His father has just passed, which puts him into a depression. (Act 2 scene
2) Later after Hamlet has become even further depressed, he cannot decide if he wants to live
anymore. (Act 3 scene 3) This can be a common feeling in today s world when losing the life of a
loved one. After Hamlet discovers the death of Ophelia, and he sees his mother killed in front of
him, he accepts the fact that he is going to die sometime and that his time is now.(Act 5 scene 2)
Hamlet also tries to escape death when he escapes from the boat and returns home. (Act 4 scene 5)
This is similar to today s society because some people might actually attempt to run from their own
death, like breaking out of
Different Philosophies That People Believe
There are several different worldviews that people believe in. Those might ask what

exactly is a worldview? Here is the definition: A worldview is the framework of basic beliefs

that we hold, whether we realize it or not, that shapes our view of and for the world. Everyone

has a worldview. The question is not whether one has a worldview but which one has. 1 Here is

the definition of a biblical worldview rather than just a worldview: A biblical worldview is

based on the infallible word of God. When you believe the Bible is entirely true, then you allow

it to be the foundation of everything you do. 2 As Christians those should have different

worldviews then nonbelievers. Any foundation for a Christian worldview must begin with

scripture. It is from the Word of God that we receive special revelation concerning the nature of

God, humankind, ultimate reality, goodness and life expectations. 3

There are many different key principles of a biblical worldview. Here is a list of seven

key ones that I found that stuck out. First, Equality of human beings. Second, Biblical

perspective on marriage. Third, Sexual Ethics. Next Government and civil authority. Another,

Superiority. Another, Common Good. Lastly, Conscientious witness. 4 All seven of these

principles have something in common with one another and with having a biblical worldview.

The quality of human beings really stuck out in the research. We should treat all human beings

equal no matter who they are.

Analysis Of The Movie The Manchurian Candidate
On the surface, the movie The Manchurian Candidate presents a parallel universe inspired by the
paranoid right wing illusions of people who believed in the Red Scare. The film itself crosses over
into several different dramas: war film, political satire, paranoid science fiction, black comedy,
suspenseful intrigue, and horror. The notion that the Russian and Chinese Communists were
working together to take over the U.S. by infiltrating them was a common idea. Because of the
communist brainwashing when captured, Raymond Shaw s lack of agency allows him to be
controlled by outside influences in order to infiltrate the United States. The paranoia and fear of
losing control to the communists during the Red Scare is paralleled in the film to a fear of the
power that women had over men. The relationship that Raymond Shaw has with the women in his
life is in complete opposition of the normal relationships men had with women during the Cold War.
This opposition is analogous throughout the entire movie, especially in the dream sequence and in
relation to Eleanor Shaw. Distorted representations of both men and women, which are not of the
customary gender roles during this time, contribute to the formation of a pubic spectacle.
The relationship between Eleanor and Raymond Shaw is not detailed in the movie, however her
explicit control over him is evident. The Jocasta complex presented in the novel creates a conflict
for the remainder of Raymond s life. His mother controls Raymond
Faulkner Writing Style
If the purpose of your story is to unfold the secrets at the center of your hero s life, then there is no
reason the key events or revelations need to be presented in the calendar order in which they
occurred. What is more important is that there is a march toward understanding, a sense we are
drawing ever closer to the truth wherever it may lie (Blake, 2). This statement sounds like
something I believe Faulkner would say. Faulkner s imagination was very great and this made him a
great writer. Faulkner even went to the extent of creating his own town in Yoknapatawpha
Mississippi (Meyer, 77). William Faulknerwas a great author that has amazed people throughout the
years. A statement he mentioned when he accepted his Nobel Prize really stuck to me. Problems of
the human heart in conflict with itself...alone can make good writingbecause only that is worth
writing about, worth the agony and the sweat (Faulkner, 77). Faulkner s writing style differs from
other authors because it is written in non chronological order, which opens the door to exciting
mysteries and excitement throughout the story unlike the film versions of stories such as A Rose
for Emily, which is predictable due to the sequence of event. Due to this, many individuals that read
books tend to like them more than the actual film that is developed. This can be said for many
movies including recent movies that have been released such as Harry Potter and Twilight.

Essay On Government Surveillance
Abstract
You are under surveillance right now. Everything that you search, and everywhere that you go is
being recorded and stored in a private corporation s warehouse, sitting and waiting for it to be
recalled and analyzed. In the past, information was much more difficult to come by. Files were only
made on individuals that have been identified as suspects. Now with the help of personal laptops,
cellphones and modern technology, being watched has become so much simpler. No one is exempt
from the surveillance state that we live in today, and our freedom is paying the price.
Why do we have it? That s a question that crosses everyone minds. The people who decided that
there needed to be a watchdog hidden in our devices say that we need this ... Show more content on

Governments want more power:
Government power is increasing on the Internet. There is more government surveillance than ever
before. There is more government censorship than ever before. There is more government
propaganda, and an increasing number of governments are controlling what their users can and
cannot do on the Internet. Totalitarian governments are embracing a growing cyber sovereignty
movement to further consolidate their power. And the cyberwar arms race is on, pumping an
enormous amount of money into cyber weapons and consolidated cyber defenses, further increasing
government power.
Protection against terrorism:
The argument used by governments and other organizations is that to protect us from terrorist they
must watch our habits on and offline. At a quick glance, it seems to make sense. Especially with the
if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear, line that is thrown around so much. They say
that if we watch you, we can also watch those who are criminals, and that you will be safer this way.
Therefore, what the government uses security cameras in public spaces, when they use their powers
