Rule of Law in Bangladesh
Question: Asses the status and function of the rule of law in the operation of the current Bangladesh
constitution

INTRODUCTION Every country is based on some kind of law. Some of those are arbitrary
powers, however over the years the only rule that seems to dictate the terms is the rule of law. One
of the basic principles of the any constitution is the rule of law. This doctrine is accepted in the
constitution of U.S.A. and in the constitution of Bangladesh. Now a day s rule of law is one of the
most discussed subjects of developing countries. Developed countries and donor agencies always
instruct the developing countries for sustainable development and good governance. [1]Actually
sustainable development and good governance mostly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some aspects of the rule of law in our society and polity should be mentioned as under: First,
access to law as well as equality before it, are reserved for only those who are privileged. For the
rest of the population, more or less the Hobbsian law of nature prevails. They are the helpless
victims of as unjust society that sets great story by privileges. Second, all government in this
country since the falls of Ershad have claimed that there is independence of judiciary. The claim is
only partially true, while the higher courts enjoy a certain measure of independence; the lower
courts are under the direct control of the law ministry. The judges look up to the Ministry for
everything infect they are obliged to. The principle of separation of judiciary from executive is
being violated in two ways 1. Magistrates are performing dual function of both executive and
judiciary, which is not desirable in the interest of justice.

2. The service of district and session judges, their transfer, promotion etc. are controlled not by the
Supreme Court but by the law ministry.

Third, The government of Bangladesh continued to use the Special Power Act of 1974 and section
54 of the criminal code, which allow for arbitrary arrest and preventive detention, to harass political
opponents and other citizens by detaining them without formal charges. Fourth, The very principle
that law should take its own course requires
Two Ways To Belong In America Summary
In Bharati Mukherjee s Two Ways to Belong in America, she outlines how she and her sister, Mira,
came to the United States from India to have a more privileged life while gaining their education
and pursuing their dreams. As time went by, changes in immigration laws strickened and it took
away benefits from resident aliens. They both realized that changing and becoming an American
citizen was necessary in order to achieve the American dream they initially migrated for. Mukherjee
(Bharati) was more open minded and she loved America, so she was more willing to stay in
America and become a legal citizen. On the other hand, Mira was more reserved with her Indian
culture and returning to her homeland, yet she wanted to stay temporarily in... Show more content on

This is very significant because it just proves how much she is willing to sacrifice her identity
just so she can accomplish her goals as an American citizen. Even so, Mukherjee was opting for
fluidity, self invention, blue jeans, and Tshirts, and renouncing 3,000 years of cate observant,
pure culture marriage in the Mukherjee family (273). She embraces the American culture because
she acquires conformity from it. Mukherjee s love for America makes her more susceptible to
adjust into America to the point where she does not even follow her own Indian tradition. This
changes her identity negatively because the more she embraces the American lifestyle, the more
she surrenders her Indian heritage. If she did allow herself to gain citizenship while maintaining
her Indian culture, perhaps her identity would not be jeopardized, however it is. Mukherjee loses
her identity as a traditional Indian since chose the American lifestyle over her own, and hence this
reveals the trauma of self transformation that results from sacrificing one s identity. As opposed to
Mukherjee, Mira have no desire to become assimilated into the American society because she
wanted to keep her Indianness and marry an Indian man. Initially, she was happy that she had a
green card because it allows her to visit multiple areas in the world while maintaining her job that
she so desires. It gave her more freedom because she was not obliged to America, considering she
was not a
Exploring the Concept of Satire in A Modest Proposal by...
A Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift, and Top of the Food Chain by T. Coraghessan Boyle, both
are short stories that explore the concept of satire. Satire can be defined as a kind of writing that
ridicules human weakness, vice, of folly in order to bring about social reform. It is a kind of
writing to bring about change to society. Even though both are short stories, they easily get the
faults of society across to its readers. In A Modest Proposal, Swift is offering an outrageous solution
to the problems of human misery. He proposes that people should start eating babies, and using
them for everything that they are worth on a daily basis. Swift creates a pamphlet and states six
reasons as to why this is a brilliant idea. He states that money wouldn t be wasted on food, the
number of Catholics would be reduced, it would be great inducement to marriages, there would
be more food so the economy would increase, poor tenants would have money for their landlords,
and it would be an improvement for the tavern business. Swift wants everyone to know how badly
the Irish people are being treated by the English. He wants to change the reader s point of view
through this sarcastic satirical pamphlet. The authors purpose of A Modest Proposal, is to try to
change society. Swift is trying to reform the British official s involvement in Ireland. People are
dying, and nothing is being done about it. He is trying to shock readers with a twisted story, but also
bring about change
What Is The Theme Of The Canterville Ghost
What comes to your mind when you hear the word ghost Something scary, something spooky? Not
when the author is Oscar Wilde and the story is The Canterville Ghost. First published in 1887 in a
magazine named Court and Society Review, when Victorian era was excelling in Horror genre, this
supernatural short story which is a parody of horror genre, written in third person narrative, is about
the most unconventional ghostof that time Sir Simon de Canterville, because, no ghost in history had
ever been treated in this manner . (Wilde 10) Though the story starts with the usual makings of
horror genre sudden changes in sky, curious eerie stillness and peals of thunder, the story takes a
twist soon when our dear ghost feels insulted on not being... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The ghost never horrifies or frightens the family; instead, he appears to run from them. The narrator
says, Never, in a brilliant and uninterrupted career of three hundred years, had he been so grossly
insulted. (Wilde, Oscar, 9) Their lack of understanding of his role renders him a pathetic character,
instead of the murderer he himself admits to being. The ghost s rather meager existence is
compounded by the narrator s close third person narration (which is debatable after the interjection
of first person in section four), which brings the reader inside the supposed villain s mind; his wish
for death removes most ill feeling toward him. Wilde relies heavily on the conventions of Gothic
literature, including setting, stereotypical characters, and supernatural elements to transform his
ghostly story into a farce in which the villain becomes
Going For The Gold By Jesse Owens
Going for the Gold 3 2 1 Pow! The starting gun went off. I shot off from my starting position. For
those ten seconds I was running, I felt incredible. After those ten seconds, I realized I had won. I
actually won. I should put this in my records for greatest meets. I had won a gold medal in the
1936 Berlin Olympics. At that moment, I felt I was on top of the world. I also felt like a father, a
hero, a black right s activist. I was 1 person, but had many faces.

Research Paper On Calendar Spread Strategies
Spread trading is a trading strategy which trades on the spread between the two contracts. The
contracts can be for the same or different commodity, same or different contract maturity, and same
or different exchanges \cite[pp.~1 24]{schap2005complete}. A calendar spread is one of these
spread strategies where the investor utilises the spread between the two contracts with a different
delivery date, but the same underlying commodity. The performance of the calendar spread strategy
is compared with the long future contract and spot position strategies. The commodity benchmark
index is also introduced which provides the comparison of the performance of the three strategies
against the commodity index.

\subsubsection{Calendar Spreads}
A calendar spread or the intra market spread is a portfolio strategy where two future contracts are
simultaneously bought and sold for the same asset, but with different expiration dates \cite[pp.~63
77]{butterworth2002inter,kawaller2002calendar,schap2005complete}. Calendar spread strategies are
naturally a fully hedged strategy. This characteristic of the strategy has attracted financial investors
towards calendar spreads trading. The increased interest of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Two calendar spread strategies are considered which are constructed by using four future contracts.
The contract one is defined as the contract for the commodity for the earliest delivery date. The
contract two to four are defined as contracts for successive delivery months for the same commodity
\cite{NYMEX}. So Spread(4,2) is constructed by selling the contract two and buying the contract
four. The Spread(3,1) is constructed by selling the contract one and buying the contract three. It is
assumed in the thesis that the investor purchased the calendar spread strategy which implies that the
investor sold the nearby future contract and bought the deferred future contract of the same
The Characteristics Of Disney And Other Disney Princesses
Another interesting way Disney and Studio Ghibli codes their characters are possessing them with
either feminine or masculine traits. Traditional feminine traits include being easily hurt emotionally,
verbal, dependent, and non aggressive. Masculine traits are defined as aggressive, independent, and
active. Ariel and other Disney Princesses typically fall into the feminine traits throughout the film,
Ariel cries and is extremely emotional, dramatically throwing herself down and sobbing over her
conflicts. She is also extremely talkative, unlike her father, who is more stoic and tough. Ariel doesn
t seem to possess any traditional masculine traits, and is mostly seen as very dependent on her
relationship with her loveinterest for happiness. Meanwhile, Kiki is described as both traditionally
masculine and feminine and this is seen as a good thing. The article Miyazaki s Heroines notes
that while Kiki longs for traditionally feminine things, like a prettier dress to wear, this is not
seen as a negative quality, just as something that s typical for a teenage girl to think. Overall, Kiki
possesses a strong balance of traits that are both traditionally seen as masculine and feminine.
While she sometimes gets emotional, it s due to the fact that she s away from home for the first
time and facing the challenges of growing up. She is also seen as extremely independent, and faces
such tasks such as finding a place to live and getting a job at a very young age. The
Essay on The War on Terror
War on terror refers to the ongoing military campaign led by U.S and U.K against organizations
identified as terrorists. Terrorism can be defined as an unlawful violence or war deliberately
targeted to civilians. It can also be defined as a systematic use of terror to coerce or violent acts
intended to create fear. This threat is normally perpetrated for religious, political or ideological
goals. The conflict as also called by other names. They include World War III, The Long War, War
on Terrorism, Bush s War on Terror, The Global War of Terror and War on Al Qaeda , (Coaty, 2010).

Terrorism became popular in 1996 when Al Qaeda network was formed by the late Osama Bin

Underlying conditions that terrorists seek to exploit were reduced. This was a measure that was used
to reduce the chances of unlawful attacks on the globe. U.S partnered with the international
community to empower weak states and prevent emergence of terrorism. To date, this can be seen in
Libya, Cote Devore and Somalia where the states have no proper governments. The international
troops have been deployed in the above states to ensure that terrorists do not utilize such loopholes to
attack the citizens.

Fighting the War on Terror

War on terror is a global challenge. A number of ways have been put across to fight the problem led
by the United States of America. Defeating terrorist has been found to be a very effective way of
fighting this threat. It is achieved by identity, location and destruction of the terrorists along with
their organizations. Once the unlawful activities are spotted, they are confirmed and relevant actions
taken against them instantly. Evidence is the U.S bombing of Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan in
pursuit of Al Qaeda network which was successful because Osama was later found and killed.

Strategy of targeted killings is also a major way to fight terror. This is a method that focuses on the
individuals who bear the greatest responsibility. The aim is to catch them alive or dead. It has
indeed borne fruit over the years. Evidence is the demise of Sadaam, Fazul and the recent killing of

What Is Mary Warren A Dynamic Character
Miller shows the greatest change in Mary Warren in order to show that good hearted people can
still cause trouble when they re ambivalent. Mary Warren was influenced by many people and
many of her own fears, causing her to change her mind a lot, which made her a dynamic character.
Mary Warren is a good person but she changes her mind too much which can cause chaos. In the
beginning of the book, Mary was hesitant to be involved with Abigail and the other girls: They ll
be calling us witches (Miller,17). But that soon wears off and Mary is quick to accuse the people
of Salem of witch craft, along with the other girls. John Proctor catches on to the the girls scheme
and forces Mary to confess in court. In court Mary seems as though she is willing to repent, she
wants to be good again. But when the court doesnt believe her and the girls decided to turn against
her, she panicked and turned on John: You re the devils man! (Miller,110). So, Mary wants to be
good but she also doesnt want to be hanged, this is why she changes her mind so much.... Show more

If Mary had only went along with the girls plan the whole time, she would have been a static
character in the book. Mary Warren, while she isn t responsible for Elizabeth being accused, she is
responsible for the poppet in the Proctors home. Mary is also technically responsible for John
Proctors death, even though things already werent looking good for him, Mary had pushed it to the
edge. Mary made change after change, which proves to be important to the plot otherwise things
wouldn t have turned out the way they did, it just wouldnt be the
Planned Market And Mixed Market Economies
Planned, Market, and Mixed Economies
Each country has its own economic system, a system for allocating its resources among its citizens,
both individual and organizations (Ebert Griffin, 2015, p. 11). There are three economic systems:
planned economies, market economies, and mixed market economies. Economic systems are defined
by how the five factors of productions are handled: labor, capital, entrepreneurs, physical resources,
and information resources. Factors of production are the resources that a country s businesses use to
produce goods and services (Ebert Griffin, 2015, p. 11).
Planned Economies
A planned economy can be defined as an economy that relies on a centralized government to control
all or most factors of production and to make all or most production and allocation decisions (Ebert
Griffin, 2015, p. 12). There are two forms of planned economies: communism, in which the
government owns and operates all factors of productions, and socialism, where the government owns
and operates only selected factors of productions. China and North Korea are both examples of
current communist countries; Denmark and Sweden are both examples of current socialist countries.
Planned Economies and Labor Factor of Production
People who work for businesses provide labor. Labor, sometimes called human resources, includes
the physical and intellectual contributions people make while engaging in economic productions
(Ebert Griffin, 2015, p. 11). In a communist planned
What Are The Weaknesses Of The Reader
In a traditional story, characters that are presented within the story is usually defined certain unique
feature. One of those unique features being their strengths and weaknesses. The main character of
the story usually doesn t reveal their strength and weaknesses at the beginning but instead reveal it
overtime throughout the novel. The charactercan either embrace their strength and try to overcome
their weaknesses or they could deny it and run from the problem. If the protagonistis going through
Joseph Campbell s Hero Cycle then it is most likely that the protagonist will eventually face hardship
and overcome the challenge and his weakness, while at the same time learning something about him
/herself. Some story however does not follow the cycle and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

One such story is seen in Bernhard Schlink s The Reader. One of The Reader s main theme and
arguably most important is illiteracy. The idea of illiteracy in the novel however is not just literal
but also has other implications as well. The use of illiteracy is not only for its literal sense but also
for other situations which require reading the situation such as personal conversations or social
situations. Another implication of literacy could also be the ability to read moral situations and pick
the correct choice. The moral and literal illiteracy in The Reader acts as an important theme and as
an vital device to communicate the concept of guilt and redemption.

One of the most important themes in The Reader is moral and literal literacy. Hanna is a character
that is defined by her inability to read. Throughout the novel we are able to observe many of Hanna s
actions that seemed unjustified until the revelation that Hanna couldn t read which gave us an
insight into the motivation and reasoning of her past and future actions. When we discovered Hanna
s illiteracy, we also discovered that Hanna
