The Music Instrument the Organ Essay
The organ is an instrument that dates back to the third century B.C. The man credited for this
invention is Ctesibius of Alexandria who invented an instrument called the hydraulis, which used
wind maintained through water pressure to some pipes. Organs are most likely found in churches
and are used during the services. Its divine pitch imitates that of a human voice and creates a
beautiful sound that many find pleasing. There are three types of organs, non piped, electronic, and
mechanical organs. Non piped organs are much like accordions and harmonicas. Electronic organs
make electronically produced sounds through speakers. Then the mechanical organs are... Show

Organs also range in size from single small keyboards to huge organs with five keyboards. Some of
the bigger instruments can have over 10,000 pipes. The famous Wolfgang Amadeaus Mozart once
called the organ the king of instruments . Organs were traditionally used for Christian and Catholic
Church services, that is why they are commonly referred to as church organs . Organs are ideally
made to accompany human voices. It could be a soloist, choir, whatever, that is one of its key
purposes. This first began in the seventh century with Pope Vitalian. At first people were not fond of
having music and singing during church services but people quickly became accustomed to having
an organ around because of the beautiful sound that complimented the songs of worship. The organ
became a popular and much wanted necessity in years to come.
Some organs, preferably larger ones, are also used for concerts called organ recitals. Almost any
organ large enough outside of church is considered a concert organ. Church organs are very large
to begin with, so concert organs must be very, very large. In the twentieth century, organs were
made to replace symphony orchestras by playing transcripts of orchestral pieces. This was a major
accomplishment because symphony orchestras took up a lot of space and time. The organ was
considerably smaller and only required the musical talent of one person instead of an entire

Ecology Interspecific Interactions Lab
Intro:
Ecology is the study of how organisms interact within their environment. Every species interacts with
its surroundings, whether it s within their populations, community, ecosystem, etc. In this lab, we
will be comparing two different species and how they grow alone as well as together, in the same
environment. More specifically, in this lab, we will be dealing with one of the most important ideas
in ecology, the niche. Due to this concept, we can study the environmental circumstances the
organism can handle, the essential resources it will need to survive, and how it will obtain these
resources. Different species can hold similar niches, and the same ... Show more content on

The carrying capacity determines the population level of a species according to the limiting
resources,
Algae is one of the most diverse and interesting organisms on the planet. This is because there are
over 10,000 unrelated species of organisms that contain chlorophyll and live in large bodies of
water or moist land. Keeping a count of population size gives us a good indication of how certain
species grow and interact with one another. By using two different species of Algae we can
determine what types of interactions the two can encounter. The two species tested were
Closterium and Micrasterias algae. We labeled them as species 1 and 2. The purpose of this lab is
to determine whether the selected algae species will demonstrate competition or resource
partitioning with the coexistence of each other versus alone. At the end of this lab we should be able
to determine which species upheld the best under all of these circumstances.
Methods:
This lab was performed with two different types of algae, Micrasterias and Closterium. Within our
groups, we counted how many of each species there were to begin with. Each group sampled one
micro liter of each algae stock, five times, and then found the average of the five trials and converted
it to milliliters. There were three different test tubes of algae stock containing 100 individuals. The
first contained 100 Closterium,
Difference Between Behavior And Histology Of Pbs Or Lps...
4.Discussion
4.1Review of results
Contrary to what we expected, there was no significant difference between behaviour and histology
of PBS or LPS treated mice. Some results, however, such as the number of microglial clusters, may
benefit from an increase in the n number, since the lack of significance was caused, partially, due to
high variability inside the groups. We are currently evaluating the immunohistochemistry of 4 mice,
although the initial idea of a profound effect of intranasal LPS over behaviour and histology seem
improbable. This can have several factors which are going to be explored individually.
4.2Post infection Time Window
Intranasal infection with laboratory isolate of Chlamydia pneumonia was shown to induce immune
reaction in the olfactory bulb and brain at 1 month post infection (pi), which gradually declined, but
was still detectable, at 3 and 4 months (Little et al., 2014). On our experiment, tissue collection was
done roughly 2 weeks after the LPS injections, therefore, there may have not been enough time for
development of immune response, such as microgliosis. Nevertheless, in vitro studies, which
exposed neuronal cells to Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria, as well as LPS, detected increased β amyloid
and hyperphosphorylated tau as early as 2 weeks after exposure (Miklossy et al., 2006). In contrast,
the in vivo study with Chlamydia pneumonia failed to find tau pathology and suggested that long
term exposure to pathogen ( 1 year) may yield better
                     A Balanced Believers Reform Movement
Balanced Believers Reform The time and need for reform has never been greater than it is right
now. The way in which the world is moving is causing divisions among the people of the Islamic
faith. Now is the time to look to the Qur an and the hadith. We must achieve the right balance of
maintaining our acts toward God, while modernizing and changing with the times, in order to
better benefit society and people as a whole. This is why our reform movement urges all Muslims
to join this cause and become a Balanced Believer, accepting and living the Qur anic principles and
teachings while living in a modern technologically and scientifically advanced society. If all
Muslims, Shia or Sunni, become united under this belief the Islamic world will be better off in the
21st century. We, as Muslims, must first address the issue at hand, can and should Muslims be able
to modernize in the 21st century and still be Muslim? This is something that many Muslims stumble
over and it causes divisions within the Islamic faith. We must understand that they are mutually
exclusive entities because you can have one without the other. Modernization is merely accepting
the new technological and scientific advances without accepting the ideologies of the West.
Muhammad Abduh, Hassan al Banna, and Sayyid Qutb all believed that to modernize was not
necessarily to westernize. To westernize is to begin to change our beliefs and ideologies to align
with the West. We as Muslims do not have to accept their
                            Manifestations Of Sacred Reality
Manifestations of Sacred Reality Throughout every type of religion or faith based belief system,
there are overlapping characteristics that all work to validate the religion. Two of these elements
universally presented in any religion are the aspect of a sacred reality and the manifestations of such
in hierophanies. Sacred reality collectively validates the religion, giving it some deeper meaning on
a spiritual level. Hierophanies are manifestations of sacred reality, meaning they are physical
objects through which the sacred presents itself (Livingston 43). Different types of hierophanies
further break down sacred reality into categories to understand it. These include sacred persons,
sacred time, sacred places, and sacred objects (43). Specifically, sacred persons and places
exemplify different aspects of sacred reality that have personally impacted my life through my
Christian faith. Sacred reality, as stated before, acts as a means of validating a religion on a
spiritual level. It can be broken into four distinct characteristics that all coincide to show the
extraordinary qualities of the sacred, (CITATION FROM BOOK). The first characteristic is that
sacred reality is specially distinctive, or set apart from the world. This suggests that a spiritual
world exists completely set apart from the physical, human world. Most religions worldwide believe
in some aspect of an afterlife or some journey to a stage of enlightenment where this sacred reality
exists, separate from

                                       Senate Filibuster
The Senate filibuster and the power to declare war hit the media all at once last week with the
Senate restricting the filibuster for Supreme Court nominees and the President s attack on Syria.. In
fact, these two issues were conjoined 100 years ago in World War I.
After a German U Boat sank the British ocean liner Lusitania laden with American arms, killing 128
Americans, President Woodrow Wilson reacted by seeking the Armed Ship Bill. Senator Fighting
Bob La Follette declared The Armed Ship Bill Meant War. Joined by Minnesota Senator Moses
Clapp, La Follette led a filibuster that blocked the Armed Ship Bill in the last days of the lame
duck session of Congress infuriating the President who ordered ships armed bypassing Congress.
Then he got Congress to pass the Cloture Rule ending filibusters by 2/3rds vote.
Wilson ended America s neutrality needlessly during World War I, supplied arms to Germany s
enemies, at the behest of banking and commercial interests, and got our ships sunk. Wilson got his
declaration of war after German Minister Zimmerman s intercepted telegram urging Mexico to
attack the U.S. if we declared war on Germany. La Follette s futile filibuster couldn t stop the war.
Unintentionally, Wilson probably caused WWII, the Cold War and war in the Middle East.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press misquoted La Follette s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The dilatory obstructionist filibuster has traditionally been employed by the wealthy few against
the majority ever since it was adopted. The filibuster only causes gridlock in Washington. Now
that Sen. Mitch McConnell has invoked the Nuclear Option, let majority rule and END THE

declare war and they should pass a LAW TO IMPRISON THE PRESIDENT, and more, for
deliberately provoking and illegally declaring war unless we re under attack. Please pass these

Winchester Mystery House The Winchester Mystery House is one of the most mysterious places
in San José, California. The house was built in 1884 and you can still visit it today! Why did
Sarah Winchester build such a strange mansion? Sarah Winchester was the resident of the
Winchester Mystery House for 38 years. Sarah was 4 foot 10 inches and said to have a great
personality. Sarah Lockwood Pardee married William Wirt Winchester, the heir of the Winchester
Repeating Arms Co. Sara became very mysterious. She built a mysterious house and had a séonce
every night. The house is in San José, CA. Sarah moved to what was then called the Wild West.
She moved there to escape the spirits. The story was that a psychic told her the ghosts were revenge
from the deaths of those slaughtered by Winchester rifles. The only way to get away from them was
to move to the wild west... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This sent Sarah into a spiral, causing her to begin the mysterious task of building the Winchester
mansion. The house was built in 1884. She had the carpenters work 24 hours a day, 7 days a
week to put the spirits of the Winchester Rifle at ease. Sarah Winchester died on September 5th,
1922 of congestive heart failure. More than 30 years after the house was started, but never
completed. To this day the house is still a popular tourist attraction. Here is some other information
on the Winchesters and their house. The Winchester Rifle is also known as the gun that won the
west. It was one of the most popular guns in the west. Almost everything in the house is related to
the number 13. From the holes in the drain covers to the panels in the ceilings there are always
thirteen. Sarah and William had a child named Annie Pardee Winchester that died a few weeks after
birth from a disease called marasmus (məˈrazməs). Marasmus is a disease that is characterized by
malnourishment of an infant. As you can see, the Winchesters did not have a typical
