How Does Plato Attribute To The Cosmos
What properties does Plato attribute to the Cosmos, and why does it have these properties? The
properties of the cosmos, according to Plato, are the receptacle and the forms. The forms were the
blueprint to all that the universe is. The physical universe therefore, is an imitation of these forms.
The receptacle was that which contained the universe, for without it, the universe would proceed
into chaos. The receptacle provides the boundaries needed in order to keep the universe in order.
How many universes does the Cosmos contain? Why? The Cosmos contains only one universe, as
the existence of more would render the first universe as imperfect. It would be imperfect for the
reason that a part is imperfect to the whole. Multiple universes would then mean multiple and
imperfect parts. Plato says that the universe was created by the demiurge to be perfect, not imperfect.

Why these elements? The Cosmos was crafted from four elements. The four elements are earth,
air, water, and fire. The universe needed fire, so it could be visible. The universe needed earth, so
it could be tangible. Since these two elements reside in two different extremes, the demiurge had
to create a balance in order to bond the earth and fire. Thus, water and air were created to be in
between the earth and fire. The addition of the air and water would also create a mathematical
completeness in the universe. What shape is the Cosmos? Why? The Cosmos is a living entity that
is nothing more than a sphere. The reason for it being a sphere is because there is no shape more
perfect than a sphere. No details exist on this sphere, such as eyes, mouth, legs, or hands. This is
because there exists nothing beyond the universe s boundaries, so it would not need such body
Hypertension ( Htn ) Is A Major Public Health Issue...
Hypertension (HTN) is a major public health issue affecting 70 million African American males
in the United States (CDC,2015) and predisposing them to cardiovascular diseases (Scranton,
Goldstein, Stecher, 2013). The WHO (2013) defines HTN as a systolic blood pressure of equal or
greater than 140 mm/Hg or a diastolic blood pressure of equal or greater than 90 mm/ Hg. In
addition, a large portion of patient s diagnosed with HTN also have a diagnosisof erectile dysfunction
(ED), both of which when left untreated can have a negative impact on quality of life. ED has
been defined by Adebusoye et al., (2012), the lack of sufficient sexual intercourse due to inability
of a penile erection in male. Compounding the high incidence of HTN and ED among African
American males, is the problem of non adherence to prescribed anti hypertensive medications.
Real or perceived ED associated with the adverse side effects of anti hypertensive medications is a
chief reason for non adherence to anti hypertensive medications among males (Kakkavas et al.,
2013). This research study will use The Health Belief Model to investigate the correlation between
African American males with dual diagnoses of HTN and ED who are non adherent to anti
hypertensive medications. More specifically, this study will scrutinize the adverse side effects of
anti hypertensive medications in relation to complications of untreated HTN, one of which is ED.
The results of this study could be used to educate
Omelas Ethics
Omelas is a city that is free of most of the troubles modern day cities face, such as pollution. This
city is anything one could want it to be, as laid out by Le Guin. Omelas is an amazing place,
where people can live freely and without worry, but they must live with the dark side of the city.
Ethics plays a big role in The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas because the citizens must be
cruel to this child, who is locked away from everything, for Omelas to be a prosperous city.
The citizens of Omelas choose to treat the child in an inhumane way so the city can thrive. Le
Guin writes They may brood over it for weeks or years. But as time goes on they begin to realize that
even if the child could be released it would not get much good of freedom: ... Show more content on

Those who disapprove of the child s captivity would disappear At times one of the adolescent girls

falls silent... and walk straight out of the city of Omelas, through the beautiful gates...they leave
Omelas, they walk ahead into the darkness, and they do not come back (739). These people
realize that they no longer want to live in a place where it is acceptable to imprison a child, and
treat him very cruelly, without much concern towards the child. Leaving the city is important
because Omelas is seen as a city in a fairy tale (736). Fairy tales are usually a fantasy about a world
where everything ends happily ever after with dreams coming true. The citizens of Omelas learn
that they, like the child, are not free (739). The realization that they are trapped may be the reason
that so many of the citizens are no longer upset about the treatment of the child. All that is known
about those that leave is that The place they go towards is even less imaginable to most of us than
the city of happiness. I cannot describe it at all. It is possible that it does not exist (739). Citizens
leaving Omelas is normal and helps to keep the city prosperous, because with them they take their
disapproval of the child s
Have you ever felt so overworked that it may be affecting...
Have you ever felt so overworked that it may be affecting the quality of the outcome? In today s
day and age of our American judicial system, most would agree our judges are overworked. The
federal judges of the court system handle a vast number of court cases each year in the United
States. It has become directionally proportional between the growing populations, the increase in
crime, in turn leading to more cases. There should be a dramatic addition of judges within the federal
court system to lower the workload of the justices. From the signing of the U.S. Constitution under
Article III, our founding fathers put power into our third branch of the government. The federal court
system was new but becoming organized. It was designed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There have many articles, journals and comments made and debated about the current crisis of the
federal court caseload. It would be nice to get some help. We are pedaling as fast as we can on an
increasingly rickety bicycle. ̶ Chief Judge Fred Biery To enable the Judiciary to continue serving
litigants efficiently and effectively, the judicial workforce must be expanded. ̶ Judicial Conference
It has been an ongoing struggle for the courts to keep up with the workload. The fact that there
has been talk and discussion about resolutions; this may be the first step to resolving the problem.
In the beginning days of our judicial system, as said before, a judge s caseload seemed to be
reasonable. It was not until the last few decades where the workload skyrocketed. In civil cases
alone from the 1940s through the mid 1990s, the caseload increased nearly 580 percent. To
emphasize the point, bankruptcy cases within the same time frame had increased over 1500 percent.
There is no question that the ratio between cases and judges has become overwhelming. During the
1940s the comparisons between civil and criminal cases filed were parallel. However in the next
few decades, civil cases rose slightly over the criminal, but then another issue began. Even though
with fast growing civil filings, the criminal cases were prone to take much more time throughout
A Friendly Enemy Essay
A Friendly Enemy
quot;Death is my wish for myself, my enemies, my children quot; (Euripedes translated by
Robinson Jeffers, Medea 11). Medea is hungry for death. She wants to taste it on her lips and wishes
others to do the same. The value which Medea gives death is to use it as a weapon against her
enemies. On the other hand, the women and the nurse fear death. Death,to the women and to the
nurse is something that should not be wished for. quot;O shining sky, divine earth,
Harken not to the song that this woman sings quot; (13). One of the Greek women says this, for
Medea is screaming out that she would like to die. The women and the nurse hear Medea wishing
for death as if it were a treasure or something valuable. The nurse and women ... Show more content

To a Greek woman death is personified as a hunter or killer. She uses an animal, the hawk,to
compare to death. A hawk is a swift predator that attacks unnoticed, but to Medea death is a trophy.
For Medea death has a value of importance. A friendship has been established. Death is Medea s
friend. She uses it as a weapon to get what she views as justice. quot; Then if you have a dog eyed
enemy and needed absolute vengeance . . . Unchild him, ha? And then unlife him quot;(23). Medea
believed with great depth to get vengeance upon Jason. She wanted to go through with her
vengeance and hurt Jason as Jason hurt her. Jason left Medea for another woman thus leaving her
miserable and craving for revenge. Thus, she went on taking the life of his bride to be and the life
of their children. She also wanted to wash herself from the impurities of Jason s touch. quot;Ah,
rotten, rotten, rotten: death is the only water to wash this dirt quot; (12). This is a metaphor for
she compares death to a water, which is a symbol of pureness, to cleanse herself. The nurse and
women have almost pleaded to Medea not to even think about death, but because of her resentment
and hate towards Jason she is deaf to the women s advice. The importance given to death by Medea
is rejected by the women. Death would only make things worse in the women s eyes. To Medea
everything will be put in
Lamb Fostering Methods
Lamb fostering basically is when a lamb is take care of by another ewe that is not its mother.
Nowadays, it is not very uncommon for farmers to practice some type of lamb fostering; this is
due to the fact that farmers love to have as many lambs as possible because each lamb represents
their income. Fostering is very important for experimental studies and keeping abandoned lambs
and triplets alive (Alexander, Stevens, Bradley, p. 231). The reason fostering helps keep triplets
say alive is because a ewe naturally only has two teats so she cannot produce enough milk for
three lambs but if another ewe only has one lamb, that ewe can feed the stray triplet. The only
problem with this is that ewes are very good at distinguishing their own lambs from others and if
they do not recognize a lamb then the ewe will not let itself be suckled. So many times fostering
methods include tricking the ewe to accept the alien lamb as her own. This is why the farmers have
to be sure to use the method best suited not only for the them but also for the ewe.... Show more

90). Ewes naturally are drawn to the fluids that are ejected from her as she gives birth. Because of
this a technique to get her to accept another lamb is to rub this fluid onto it within the first twelve
hours postpartum (Basiouni Gonyou, 1988, p. 872). This technique is preferred by farmers due to
the fact that not only is it one of the easiest methods, it also is very effective and presents many
positive results (Basiouni Gonyou, 1988, p. 877). One of the reasons as to why this method is
more effective could be due to the fact that it is the least artificial and restrictive for the ewe, which
both the farmer and the ewe prefer (Ward, Liste, Tinarwo 2011, p.

Political Correctness Research Paper
In today s world, our lives are controlled by political correctness. Throughout society, people have to
be concerned with what they say as it may be misconstrued. People s lives are affected in numerous
ways due to political correctness. This limits the given rights under the first amendment, the freedom
of speech. In turn, this changes humor and opinion. It also affects art and education. Although,
political correctness can bring society closer together and limit hatred. In the end, it can be argued
that political correctness has both positive and negative affect in today s world. The negative effects
being limiting the first amendment, art, and education, and the positive effects being increasing
equality.
First and foremost, political correctness has started to leak into our education. Political correctness
has begun to find its way into our textbooks and education. Learning material that is found
offensive or discriminating is being removed or adjusted to avoid social issues. For example,
Native Americans aren t depicted to have long braids and redskin because it is now considered to
be stereotypical and discriminating. If we begin to remove or change these events in the textbooks,

Old World Wine and New World Wine
Wines in the Old and New World
Xuanyu Liu
San Francisco State University Abstract
The wines are divided into two categories, the old world wine and the new world wine. When
Hugh Johnson came up with his concept of these two worlds, people have started to find out the
differences. Wines are beverages of gods, and people enjoy them and have their own
understanding of wines. The old world wines are traditional while the new world wines are modern.
In this research paper, I will tell the difference(s) between these two worlds wines in aspects of their
natures, cultures, histories, as well as their developments today. Keyword: new world wine, old word

For example, French people respect the spirit of Terroir. They believe the original land, soil,
climate, and varieties of grapes are best represents of the wine and its culture, and the nature factors
are the best to decide and embody the essence of wines. AOC system is the protection and
interpretation of the traditional French winemaking philosophy. If people mix grapes from different
geographical locations, it would be considered as the violation to the wine spirit and culture. If a
wine used non statutory variety of grapes, no matter how beautiful and tasty it was, it could not
become the AOC level. The new world wines have more innovation and reformation in wine styles.
People improve wines in the experiment. They use different varieties of grape and planting
techniques, have the modern brewing philosophy and production organizations. The new world
wines have really new faces, tastes, and qualities. For the New World, there is no heavy history and
heritage; there are less experience bondage and concepts constraints. The legal philosophy
restrictions are almost non existent. Therefore, in the new world wine development, people are more
creative and accept the spirit of the new things. Mechanical picking machines, peeling machines,

The Polson Diner Analysis
For years, Glen Slater has run the Polson Diner. However, he was a socially enigma. Grumpy and
gruff, people gave him a wide berth whenever he was out of the kitchen. Only one person was
able to see past his exterior, but even Gina Lawson didn t know the story behind why he was the
way he was. After he dealt with his past one snowy day, the Mayor of Polson spied him as she too
was dealing with her own. Victoria Jennings had been watching Glen over time. She knew there
had to be a reason he kept society at arms length. There was something that tugged at her heart and
drew her to him. Snowed in after Glen took her home, Victoria was drawn to the real man under the
hard exterior. Glen was drawn to her also, although at first, both were

The Development of the Processes Behind Blood Pattern Analysis, GSR, and Trace Collection
Learning of the history and uses behind blood pattern analysis, gunshot residue, and trace collection
is almost as important as learning how to complete the tasks themselves. These three vastly different
subject matters are the key to discovering a great deal of valuable information that ensures accuracy
for the facts of the case while simultaneously contributing towards the guilty party being held
responsible. Without these processes, Crime Scene Specialists would be severely lacking in their
ability to establish evidence for detectives, lawyers, judges, and jurors to name a few.
