colonial oppression. The sacrifices they made for the people were inspirations for their determination
in freedom and ignorance to a land of liberty. They wrote, spoke out, and acted upon democracy,
freedom, and equality, which are now their gifts to us. Implicitly, they continue to inspire people to

the current and upcoming generations to preserve the ideals for which the heroes fought.
4. What principles, values, and ideals did they fight for that are still battles at present? Explain.
- The principles, values, and ideals they fought for include freedom, justice, equality, and
national sovereignty. One thing that both the past and the present have in common is the concept of
social and economic inequity, corruption, and the struggle for human rights. Another current struggle
that speaks to our national heroes is the pursuit of true democracy and civil liberties. Their struggle
serves as evidence that the struggle for a just society is a continuous process that calls for active
citizenship awareness on the part of all citizens, rather than simply being a thing of the past. If we
want to create a society that respects their sacrifices and makes sure that everyone has a better
tomorrow, then these ideals must be preserved.
