Compare And Contrast Distance Running And Cycling
Distance running and cycling first began and were introduced as sports, in the 1800 s when the first
Olympic Games took place. Since then, these sports have become increasingly well known around
the world and in society. Distance running, and road racing cycling have many different components
including the types of equipment s used, muscles worked, VO2 max levels, the weather each sport
can occur in, etc. Although these two sports are quite different, they are both well known and loved
by the many individuals who take part in a healthy sporting lifestyle. By analyzing the nutritional
requirements, common injuries, and legal and/or illegal performance enhancing drugs, many
differences and similarities can be discovered and revealed regarding these two sport activities.

Proper nutrition is one of the most essential elements to being healthy and living a long life.
Choosing better decisions with your nutrition and hydration can result in improved performance,
injury prevention and recovery. Both professional road racing cyclists and marathon runners follow
specific diets to obtain their careers as athletes, so they can continue to do what they love. Cycling
and running are both considered endurance sports that require similar nutritional requirements when
training, during, and after the activity. Carbohydrates play a significant role in these two sports as
they provide energy for the central nervous system and help maintain essential glycogen stores within
the muscles,
Thesis Statement On The Gettysburg Address
The tone and stage are set with the background of the great battle field of Gettysburg s. Our nation is
involved in a great civil war between its brothers with two different views and divisions. President
Lincoln has the daunting task as the President of the United States to bring healing to this torn
country; to remind the country that it was only 87 years earlier that this young country started on its
great experiment. The thesis statement answers the question and reminds the audience that all men
are created equal and that the basis on which our country was founded on was liberty and equality.
President Lincoln was trying to tie together the key principles of our founding fathers with freedom,
equality, and democracy which are embodied... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Harriet Tubman An American Hero
What makes an American hero? Is it someone who created a super market? Or is it someone who
led this country in a civil war? Is it someone who gave their life to make sure this country was
free? To me an American hero is someone who risked her life to free her people. To me an
American hero is someone who wanted freedom so bad, she defied the odds and helped make it
happen. To me Harriet Tubman is an American hero.

Her true name was Araminta but she changed it to Harriet, her mother s name, after her mother
died. She was one of nine children. Harriet had many hardships in her life, especially in her
childhood. One of these came when her owner, Mary Brodess s son sold three of her sisters to a
different plantation. However when a slave owner ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This started in December 1850 when she found her niece Kessiah was to be sold. Fortunately,
Kessiah s husband was able to make the winning bid and Harriet was able to lead the whole family
out of the south safely. Eventually she was able to get her parents, siblings and about 60 others out
of slavery, earning herself the nickname of Moses .

Then the Fugitive Slave Law was passed. In this law it said that even if the slaves had made it to
the north, slave hunters and bounty hunters could still capture them and take them back to slavery.
Instead of giving up Tubman decided to reroute her passage and take all the slaves to Canada,
where slavery is not prohibited. In December 1851 Harriet took a group to Canada and there is
evidence that they stopped at former slave and abolitionist Frederick Douglas.
So could Harriet Tubman be an American hero? Could she be called a hero for freeing her
slavery, defeating all the odds, and helping strangers too? Could she be someone every little girl
and boy look up to? I think so. I think anyone who would put others lives above her own could, and
should, be deemed a
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Li-Fi (Light Fidelity)
Li Fi (Light Fidelity)
Mian Siddique Ahmed
Associate Editor,
The Scientific Ravi
In this modern era, wireless communication has become a requisite need like water and electricity
which is part of our personal as well as our professional life. When we talk about wireless
communication, the first word which comes to our mind is Wi Fi. It uses 2.4 5 GHz RF (radio
frequency) to deliver internet access around a wide area. As more and more users are connected
to the network, the rate of data transfer gets reduced. So when more people access wireless
internet, airwaves gets clogged and it makes difficult to latch onto a reliable signal. Transmission of
data is done using radio waves which is just one part of spectrum. We are totally dependent upon this
very prevalent service. But it has also many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This issue is resolved using Li Fi as it emits no EM radiations and so there will be no interference
with the monitoring equipment.

Safe environment:
Light waves are safer than radio waves. So Li Fi is used in those places where Wi Fi is prohibited
such as in mines and petrochemical plants. Subway stations and tunnels, commonly known as dead
zones for most emergency communications will now have web access to every corner only because
of Li Fi.

Airplanes:
Wi Fi cannot be used efficiently in the airplanes. Li Fi is used to limit the interference between
radio frequency waves and radio of pilot. Also the passengers have to pay a huge amount of
money for the service of dial up speed Wi Fi on the plane. Li Fi could easily solve this problem.
Reduction in cabling equipment leads towards lighter airplane.

Institutions:
Now students can download teacher notes anytime from respective teacher s blog. There will be
more interaction between students with interconnectivity between hundreds of devices.

My Dreams Short Story
My Dreams

Ready, set, go! The loud gun shot rang in my ears as I pushed forward and ahead of the crowd. It
wasn t easy for me to be able to run like this.
About a month ago, I was living with my mother in a tiny hut by the river. Mum, I fetched the
water like you asked. Now can I go out with my friends? I had never liked staying home with my
mother doing chores. I preferred going outdoors and helping out at the farm.
Rebecca, I thought we already talked about this. You are not going out again today! You are doing
this for your future, to have a career and to have a family, my mother scolded me for never listening,
but I knew what I wanted for my future.
I will have a career and a family, Mother. I even have goals and dreams for my future too. I want to
become an athlete! I guess I shouldn t have said that, because my mother stopped sweeping and
looked at me seriously.
You want to be an athlete? Don t you how much we need to pay to allow you to do that? It s not
even a proper job. How many people are able to become famous for doing that? You re wasting
your time doing this. You could be studying for college or getting a part time job right now. Go and
milk the cows for tomorrow morning.
I suddenly felt really guilty at the thought of my father working out of town and my mother trying
to take care of me and my two younger brothers. I should be helping my family, but what if I don t
want to? I stood there frozen on the spot, wondering whether I was doing the
United States Interagency Council On Homelessness
In recent years, the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH) and the US
Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) have identified rapid re housing as a
critical strategy to meeting the national goal of ending family homelessness by 2020 (USICH 2013).
As noted in a recent update of Opening Doors, the federal plan to end homelessness, [US Department
of Health and Human Services], HUD, [the US Department of Veterans Affairs], and USICH have
joined forces to promote expansion of rapid re housing as a part of community coordinated
systems (USICH 2013). Rapid re housing, an intervention that helps homeless families exit shelters
and get back into permanent housing quickly, provides short term help with housing expenses (e.g.,
rent arrears, ongoing rent assistance, moving costs) and case management focused on housing
stability. Rapid re housing is a relatively new but, as early evidence shows, promising strategy that
communities across the country are adopting. The emphasis on rapid re housing represents a
significant shift in the response to family homelessness toward a Housing First philosophy.
Increased attention on rapid re housing, accompanied by an influx of resources, and expansion of
programs, elicits urgent need for more rigorous evaluation, some of which is already underway.
There is a small, but growing, body of evidence on the efficacy of rapid re housing. Drawing on
program data and early findings from evaluations in progress, this brief
Alcohol Consumption For Male And Female Students Study The...
Legislative changes are aimed at improving New Zealand s drinking culture, to reduce the harm
caused by excessive drinking, however alcohol has become more readily available in more places
over the years (New Zealand Government, 1989, 1999, 2012, 2013). Previous studies have continued
to question whether such changes have made a difference in our drinking culture.
The purpose of this report is to focus on the comparison of alcohol consumption for male/ female
students studying the General and Applied Psychology with the Open Polytechnic of New Zealand,
past or present. This experiment compares male/ female drinking habits and consumption for the last
12 months. It is hypothesised that male and female patterns of alcohol consumption are different, as
past studies have shown that males consume alcohol than females (XXXXXX).
It is important to note that one standard drink is 12.5mls or 10 grams of pure alcohol, or one can or
stubbie of beer, half a large bottle of beer, one small glass of wine or one double nip of spirits. The
recommended amount of standard drinks on one occasion is 6 standard drinks for men, or 4
standard drinks for women.

Impact Of The New Deal On The Great Depression
Impact of the New Deal on the Great Depression

Preceding the Great Depression, the United States went through a glorious age of prosperity, with a
booming market, social changes, and urbanization; America was changing. At the end of the 1920 s
and well through the 1930 s, America was faced with its greatest challenge yet; the 1929 stock
market crash. It would be the end of the prosperity of the Roaring Twenties . Now the American
government and its citizens were faced with a failing economy. President Herbert Hoover was
clueless to how to approach the problem. Hoover believed that government works best when it
governs less, and should not intervene in the economy. Traditionally, he stayed out the issue hoping
that the economy would fix itself; it didn t. Hoover s inaction makes his presidency look ineffective
as if he caused the Great Depression. Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) succeeded Hoover as
president. Like Hoover, FDR didn t know exactly how to help the economy. Unlike Hoover, FDR
introduced experimental ideas and programs to help solve the issue. These ideas and programs
would become a part of Roosevelt s policies known as the New Deal which sought to fix America s
economic struggles. Despite short term successes, the New Deal implemented during the 1930 s by
FDR did not lift the United States out of the Great Depression. Instead by intervening in the
economy, and creating huge debt, the New Deal prolonged the Great Depression.

The New Deal aimed to restore

Who Is The Narrator In Once More To The Lake
After just skimming over Once More to the Lake, I first assumed the narrator was hallucinating or
daydreaming for the entire passage. After a closer review, I recognized that White, acting also as
the narrator, was reminiscing his childhood summers spent with his father while ironically
revisiting the sites he was fond of as a child, now, with his own son. We see the first instance of
the power of memory as White, accompanied by his son, travels towards his beloved lake. ... I
began to wonder what it would be like. I wondered how time would have marred this unique, this
holy spot the coves and streams... Going off on a tangent, he starts to remember detail after detail of
his summers like a chain reaction by telling us of the ...cool and
A Rainy Day In Lea Research Paper
It was a rainy day in LA. I have been praying to not have rain while I am in LA but unfortunately,
at the point of where I almost got rid of the cold, it has rained at last. However, I had a good
experience/visit along rain. Although I am a fashion student, I am interested in ceramics because
I had worked and made a lot of ceramics since my cousin sister got her degree in ceramics. When I
was about 6 years old that I first made my own pots. Because I love making things with clay and
familiar with ceramics, Peter Shire s art works were really interesting to me that those are unusual,
unique, different from the tradition mold of the cups, kettles, etc. Next day, we had a very busy day
of visiting galleries and studios. If was a non stop visiting

Perspectives Effecting Personal Beliefs
Perspectives Effecting Personal Beliefs
Consider how the effect of a new perspective has been reflected and developed in a literary text or
texts you have studied. Discuss the ideas developed by the text creator about the effect an individual
s perspective has on personal beliefs.

Each and every individual develops some sort of perspective and opinion on many different subjects,
objects, and people throughout life. However, these perspectives are prone to change. The play, A
Streetcar Named Desire, by Tennessee Williams is a great example of new outlooks on life making
an effect on personal beliefs. It shows the denouement of two opposing perspectives and how they
can eventually damage or even destroy an individual. Some ideas ... Show more content on

Blanche s panorama towards gay people had interchanged with her beliefs and this lead to her biased
opinion towards her husband. Most likely, things were probably said that weren t meant to be
hurtful, but her husband still committed suicide. This misunderstanding of her own feelings as well
as her husbands potentially lead to a guilt savaged life for Blanche. Stanley is a character in this
play, whose perspective is clearly reality based. Since Blanche s outlook on life is fantasy based,
there is a lot of hostility between the two characters. Stanley is the one that always exposes the
lies that Blanche is always hiding behind. He is constantly trying to get her to accept his
perspective. When she finally begins to understand him, it s too late. With such a huge change,
she loses her mental state. Her personal beliefs get interchanged between fantasy and reality, to
such an extent, that it seems as if she no longer realizes what is true or what is malign. Mitch has
a very courteous and gregarious perspective on life. He basically believes that everyone deserves a
chance. When he first meets Blanche, he begins to fall in love with her but soon after Stanley
reveals the true Blanche to Mitch, he feels betrayed. At that point, his perspective changed because,
he begins to become a little more like Stanley. An example of this is when he finds out and comes to
meet Blanche and tells her
