To Kill Or Not To Kill In Holy Wars
How does it feel when your loved ones get killed when involved in Holy Wars? When many
seemingly nice, trusted leaders suddenly order warriors to kill the ashamed, abandoned people.
Religious leaders that kill in Holy Wars should not be justified, reminding us that many of their
religions are against killing. To begin with, many religious leaders and religions that start or
participate in Holy Wars are usually against killing. The 6th commandment in the Bible states, Thou
shalt not kill. This evidence supports my answer because one of Ten Commandments says not to
kill, but Christians and others still did. Others think the leaders are justified because God had also
killed, according to the Bible. They are wrong because God had
The Color Purple, by Alice Walker and Push, by Sapphire Essay
In today s advanced societies, many laws require men and women to be treated equally. However,
in many aspects of life they are still in a subordinated position. Women often do not have equal
wages as the men in the same areas; they are still referred to as the more vulnerable sex and are
highly influenced by men. Choosing my Extended Essay topic I wanted to investigate novels that
depict stories in which we can see how exposed women are to the will of men surrounding them. I
believe that as being woman I can learn from the way these characters overcome their limitations
and become independent, fully liberated from their barriers. When I first saw the movie Precious
(based on Sapphire s Push ) I was shocked at how unprotected the... Show more content on

The two heroines share a harsh background; they both have had a rough childhood and are
searching for a way out of their misery. Their lives are centered around the strategies that contribute
to their rise. When writing this essay I was mainly interested in exploring how even the characters
with smaller roles could affect the outcome, could shape the path the heroines followed towards their
rise, but also wanted to analyze all the aspects through characters contributed to the liberation of the
heroines. The main character in Walker s The Color Purple is Celie, a black woman who is treated
very poorly by the men surrounding her. In her early years she is abused and raped by her
stepfather, Alfonso, who she has two babies from. It shows already at the beginning of the novel
that there is a mixture of parent lover, parent children roles, which can prevent Celie s rise and also
noting their similar history will be a barrier in Precious s life as well. Throughout the novel the
strong relationships she builds with the other female characters around her have the greatest impact
on Celie s life. This sisterhood gives her the strength to liberate herself from the oppression created
by men.
The most important out of these relationships could be the one she has with her little sister, Nettie.
The book consists of a series of letters that Celie writes to her sister and later to God. In these letters
she informs Nettie about her life, and
Global Climate Change Essay
The believed outcome of Global Climate Change(GCC) by many people is not a good one.
However it will not be as bad as 40 foot swell in the sea level, huge thunder storms, or satanic
hurricanes. Yes, the world is changing, and changing in ways that we have yet to fully understand.
Many people do believe that the current trend of our planet s climatewill inevitably end in the
destruction of the earth as we know it and out of those people most believe it is entirely humans
fault. The human not the main cause of global climate change or reason for long term GCC. In fact
the recent increase in world temperature is just plain wrong.
The facts is that the earth s climate is changing. There is no denying that. It s always changing. From

The Glaciers and snowy mountains are also disappearing. In 1910 Montana s Glacier park had 150
glaciers compared to today where they now only have 27[Global Warming Fast Facts]. Another thing
that is highly affected climate change are Coral reefs they are very sensitive to small temperature
changes and the slight gains of PH in the water. The main sign that a coral reef is dyeing is that
they will bleach, turn an off white color. A survey of the coral reefs in 1998 showed some reefs had
been 70% bleached[Global Warming Fast Facts].
Many people will point out how the weather seems to be getting worse. For example, there are
more and forest fires[Global Warming Fast Facts]. However they are wrong; most forest fires are
not a result of the environment changing but by humans and they are getting worse because of
humans but not for the obvious reasons. Forest fires are getting worse because we have put them
out. Many forest fires that would become big are put out before they get very far but every time a
small forest fire gets put out it will mean more underbrush builds up and after years of building up
an uncontrollable forest fire starts up and does allot more damage than the lots of little fires would
have caused[Discovery Education Classroom Resources].

Division In The Kite Runner
The Kite Runner, a novel written by Khaled Hosseini, highlights multiple elements of division in
society through the troubled lives of Amir, a youthful Pashtun adolescent, who is raised amongst a
Hazara teen, Hassan, in a racially separated setting in Afghanistan. Throughout the novel, the author
shows how different divisions in society can affect the course an individual s life takes. It also
looks at how Afghanistan s long past of racial estrangement makes it challenging to one s social
position in a culture such as Afghanistans. The social divisions in social class, family types and
personality which the youthful characters grow up in, are recurrently acquired from their families
and surrounding life figures. Such divisions affect the courses... Show more content on

It becomes common for them to form friendships with other children whom they aren t
necessarily meant to befriend. Through division in types of personalities present in numerous
characters in the book, Hosseini incorporates honest and defenseless adolescents, who grow up
with racist views around them. This often leads the children to adopt such views into their own
personalities. For the duration of Hassan s life, his father was tormented by Pashtun individuals
whilst also being alluded to as a donkey (p. 75) by his partner. This lack of respect that exists
inside his family, leads to Hassan building up the conviction that in society, he matters less than
Pashtun people. His personality is altered because of this and as he grows, he changes. This also
exists amongst the opposing Pashtun youths, for example, Amir, who grows up with Hazara
workers. As he grows up, his mentality alters to the thought that Hazara individuals are not to be
befriended but are only there to work. This adjusts his personality as his behavior towards them
changes. Sanaubar, Hassan s mother, went her whole life with her feelings being tortured after
cheating on her husband. On the contrary Amir s spouse, Soraya, did likewise, yet was overlooked.
From the day they were born Amir and Hassan possessed unequal opportunities. Only Amir is
permitted to attend school, and subsequently builds up the attitude that Hassan never should have
the opportunity to receive an education. Amir is constantly ridiculing Hassan saying imbecile . it
means smart, intelligent. I ll use it in a sentence for you. When it comes to words, Hassan is an
imbecile. (p. 29). The personality of the individuals in the book are dependent on the division they
are born into. The differing personalities are a large feature that determines the way in which the
lives of the individuals in the book contrast each other. Amir being a quieter

Drummer Guy Vanderhaeghe
In Drummer, Guy Vanderhaeghe shows us how important the need for one s own principles
really is. Setting place in the early 1950 s, Vanderhaeghe shares a story through Billy s point of
view, a small town fifteen year old who starts to see the why principles are necessary throughout a
series of events. These include: Billy standing up to his father after getting ridiculed for attending
the wrong church; assessing his teacher, Ms. Clark s view on why one needs principles; and when
he starts to reflect on how Nancy s principles dictate her decisions and how she reacts to the peer
pressure that Gene, his brother puts upon her. Vanderhaeghe shows us that the issues in such a small
town are no different than the ones we face in society... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Nancy s friend, Doreen, made a comment that she was embarrassing (231) her, Nancy
politely replied You know I don t drink, Doreen (231). Although she is constantly being pressured,
she stands her ground and does not let anyone get in the way of what she believes in. Towards the
end, Billy tries to kiss Nancy after walking her home. Her immediate response was What re you
doing? [...] I m not your date (235). For Nancy, kissing Gene s brother would simply be wrong
because she was originally on a date with him, not Billy. At these moments, we see that Nancy
always stands up for herself and what she feels is right, no matter what anyone else thinks. Both
Nancy and Billy have this ability to stand up for what they believe is right because of their
principles. What would come of this world if no one had principles, let alone their own
principles? Society would not be able to function if no one had a set of moral rules to guide their
actions. Vanderhaeghe shows us why it is necessary to have principles through showing the lives
of these small town characters and how they relate to a larger picture in life. He gives us an
insight on this with three main characters: Zipper s dedication, which show how his principles lead
to hard work and not giving up; Billy s development in character which improve his principles, and
allow him to stand up for what he believes in; and Nancy s firm set
My Career Choice For Myself
Never once did I consider another career choice for myself; I always had one career in my heart
and to become a teacher. In fact I always felt like I have been preparing for the teaching profession
my whole life. As a little girl I would always play pretend with my sisters and make them be my
students while I taught them. If they didn t want to play teacher with me, which was often the case,
I would play with my stuffed animals and Barbie s and pretend that I had a whole classroom. Even
now as I share my educationand career goals, people me that I will make a great teacher and I really
hope I live up to their expectations!
When I was in middle school my mom ran a couple of Girl Scout troops in a school in the next
town over. She actually let me run her Daisy troop for a few years while she would run the
Brownie troop. A Daisy troop is usually ages 5 6, so I had a much easier time teaching them since
I was still so young. I myself was so excited that my mom entrusted me with the responsibly to
lead these girls; it was my chance to take all the practice I had gotten from teaching my sisters and
my toys and actually use it. I usually would just come up with fun activities for them so that they
could earn a badge every time we would get together. Other times they would come early and I
would help them with their homework. I was actually able to use all my hard work and leadership
skills toward earning my bronze medal. When I was a Junior, we also were the troop that had
How Does Henry Reyna Symbolize In The Zoot Suit
In Luis Valdez s Zoot Suits , the character El Pachuco symbolizes a rebellious culture that defies
society. El Pachuco stands as Henry Reyna s alter ego. When Henry Reyna is in a dispute with his
moral decisions, he either listens to El Pachuco s strong character or goes with his moral instincts.
Like Henry Reyna the Pachucolifestyle was the way of living for many teens in the 40s. The
Pachuco life was cool and hip, teenagers talked with a slang that to society was deemed wrong.
Their zoot suitwas their individual symbol, a Pachuco would be recognized instantly just by their
high waist baggy pants that were tighten in the bottom as well as for their long jackets. The zoot
suits were popular among teens all over the U.S. from coast to coast.... Show more content on

But not a lot of justice was brought to many zoot suitors, since many of them ended up in jail. The
weak link between justice and pachucos is evident In Valdez s play as he utilizes the El Pachuco
character to show the hatred and mistrust of the justice system. El pachuco doesn t believe that
justice will be served to Henry, because he s Mexican and he s being tried for murder. After henry
gets sentenced, he still has hope on winning an appeal since his trial was noticeably unfair. But El
pachuco quickly denounces that idea telling henry not to expect justice when it isn t there, no
court in the land s going to set you free. Learn to protect your love ones by binding them in hate,
ese! (Valdez, 64). El pachuco is telling Henry to show hate towards society because that s the only
way he can protect himself and everyone else. Henry quickly refutes him because he believes there
is justice out there. Sadly that way El pachuco felt was how many pachucos felt in the
History Behind Judges Analysis
I. History Behind Judges: The Book and the Position The Book Judges is the seventh book of
both the Hebrew and the Christian Bible. It recounts the events following the Book of Joshua and
is linked together by the repeated account referring to Joshua s death. Though hard to
chronologize, many scholars believe the period of the judges to be from about 1405 B.C. to about
1000 B.C. the period of the judges lasted a little over 400 years. The book delineates the content
therein: it contains the annals of the biblical judges. The title is derived from the Hebrew word
Shophtim (Jdg 2:18), which in the Hebrew tongue signifies governor . The word is also
synonymous with judge, ruler, arbitrator, leader, or king . The historical sequence of events lie
between the conquest of the promised land (Canaan) and the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Structure The Book of Judges falls into three sections: (1) Prologue (Jdg. 1:1 3:), (2) Main Text
(Jdg. 3:7 16:31, and (3) Epilogue (Jdg. 17 21). The prologue deals with the exploits of the judges
and the succeeding generations after the death of Joshua to continue the conquest of Canaan.
Following this, the body of the book illustrates the seven cycles of rebellion, sin, and deliverance.
Lastly, the epilogue displays the full effect of total depravity as the Israelites assimilated rather than
resisted the idolatrous ways of the Canaanites.
The Pros And Cons Of Public Financing
The system of public financing is one in which public funds cover either some portion or all of the
election costs associated with running for office. In return for the public s financial support, the
candidates are limited in the amount they can spend during their campaign (Primo and Milyo
2006a). This system is beneficial to all three branches of government, and is arguably most
influential on non legislative candidates. This is because, the size of these legislators suppresses the
power of any single member, and compels interest groups to look elsewhere for major influence
(Primo 2006).
Public funding of campaigns and political parties are widespread throughout the majority of Europe.
According to the International Institute for Democracy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, arguments have been made that the central reason public financing laws are so
unpopular in the United States are a result of the public s unwillingness to support public financing
with taxes. U.S support of public financing has been found to fluctuate based on question wording
bias (from between 40% approval to 10% approval). This variation stems from the contradictory
ideas of the public s belief system: those private and political contributions can lead to policy
decisions that favor the financial supporters and not the actual constituents, viruses the
overwhelming disapproval to subsidize the campaigns through taxes (Raja and Schaffner 2011).
It has been theorized that these public financing policies make elections more competitive and could
possibly increase voter turnout. Conversely, to that argument, adversaries of public financing say
that creating laws, which limit campaign spending, will in turn, decrease voter turnout. This study
however, indicated that neither of these theories were supported showing that changes in campaign
finance laws, on average, have no net effect on turnout (study specifically in gubernational elections)
