Human’s Rights Watch

Human Rights Watch (HRW) is an international organization that works


to protect human rights worldwide. It investigates and reports on human
rights abuses, such as discrimination, violence, and government
oppression. HRW raises awareness and puts pressure on governments and
institutions to improve laws and policies. It focuses on issues like freedom
of speech, refugees' rights, and justice for victims of war crimes. The
organization was founded in 1978 and operates in many countries, using
research, advocacy, and media to promote human rights for all.

What is a Preposition?

 Explain: A preposition is a word that shows the relationship between


a noun (or pronoun) and another word in a sentence.

 Example: The book is on the table. (on is the preposition that shows
location).

Types of Prepositions

A. Prepositions of Place (Where?)

 on – The phone is on the table.

 in – The keys are in the bag.

 under – The shoes are under the chair.

 next to – The lamp is next to the bed.

 between – The ball is between two boxes.

B. Prepositions of Time (When?)

 in – We go to school in the morning.

 on – Her birthday is on Monday.

 at – I sleep at 10 PM.

C. Prepositions of Movement (Direction?)

 to – He goes to school.
 into – She walked into the room.

 out of – He ran out of the house.

Difference Between "In," "On," and "At"

"In," "on," and "at" are common prepositions of place, time, and
position, but they have different uses.

1. "In" – Used for Enclosed Spaces & Longer Time Periods

 The keys are in the bag.

 She is in the car.

 They live in New York.

✅ Time (Longer Periods: Months, Years, Decades, Centuries)

 I was born in 2000.

 We go on vacation in December.

 He lived there in the 1990s.


2. "On" – Used for Surfaces & Specific Days/Dates

✅ Place (Surface or Touching a Surface)

 The phone is on the table.

 There is a picture on the wall.

 The book is on the floor.

 My birthday is on Monday.

 We have a meeting on June 5th.

 They got married on Christmas Day.

3. "At" – Used for Specific Points & Exact Times
