Item 1.
David, a peasant farmer had his bean seeds submerged and covered with heavy soil
layer shortly after planting them as a result of the heavy rains. However some of the
seeds managed to grow but were later on fed on by the chicken that David also
reared in his farm. All these led to poor yields of the beans.

(a) Mention the life processes that were affected in the beans as a result of the

Torres, a senior three student joined a group of gangs who smoke opium and chew a lot of
khat. He was got by the head teacher smoking opium along the street. This caused him to
breath very fast as he attempted to run away.

James and Joan are happily married for 15 years now. They have two kids; a boy and a girl
who have being behaving well but suddenly changed at the ages of about 10 years to 18
years. They start doing nasty things and always a head ache to the parents. This has
frustrated the couples who had come to you for help.

Part I

Item 4

As a result of the new developments in Kampala city, many of the residents of the city are
forced to relocate as the city authorities are constructing new roads and other
infrastructures. This has made many of the residents to relocate along the banks of rivers.
But it has been reported that these people do farming along the river banks in which they
apply agrochemicals on their farms, wash cars in the river, and also damp their domestic
and kitchen wastes into the river. This has caused a lot of problems to the community
living along the banks of the river.
Task: Explain;
a) To the community the challenges they have caused as a result of their activity.
b) To the community why they would need to conserve this river. (08 scores)

Item 5
There has been a serious battle between Zendera Development Authority (ZDA) and a
politician over the takeover of Nyanda Forest as he is planning to transform it into an eco-
city with a lot of infrastructures such as stadiums, recreational centres and other
developments. This did not go well in the ears of some prominent natives of Zendera that
advocated that NYANDA MUST BE SAVED.
Task:
Explain to the locals in Zendera;
a) How destroying this prestigious resource may affect the city.
b) Why they would need to the conserve this resource. (08 scores)

Item 6
Kiprotich, a Ugandan marathon runner declined and dropped out of the race in the final
lap of 10000M race organized in Tokyo in 2020 as he developed a sharp pain his muscles
yet he has been training and taking a lot of fluids. This has frustrated his Ugandan fans who
did not believe all these occurrences
Task;
(a) Explain why Kiprotich dropped and declined out of the race.
(b) What advice can you give you give to Kiprotich to avoid further occurrences
in future?

Item 7
Sam an 8year old boy in Lira primary school has been diagnosed with diabetes and
hypertension. His parents admitted they have been feeding him on Rolex, ice cream, fried
meat and beverages like oner juice. The doctor decided to conduct a Body Mass index for
the whole family and the results are shown in the table below.
