Advertisements are becoming more and more common in our everyday life.
Is it a positive or negative
development?
Advertising, these days, has become so trendy that people look upon them as inseparable part of their
lives. I believe that this phenomenon is both disadvantageous and positive in equal measure.
On the one hand, some organizations advertise their products excessively, thereby giving result to
undesirable circumstances. First one is that superfluous commercials get customers to squander their
money. That is, as some people come across catchy and flashy slogans in everywhere, they
unconsciously desire to purchase unnecessary or luxurious products. Even worse, those purchased
items can be of questionable quality. No one ensures that objects seen in adverts are always as
excellent as they are presented, and therefore people who fall for fake ads can waste their money for
trashy products. Hence, false advertising can be regarded as unfavorable.
I, on the other hand, firmly believe that its benefits to both customers and producers are considerable
likewise. Regarding the former, it enables people to become aware of new products or services. Some
people are so preoccupied with their work or family that they merely have time to wander markets to
see new merchandise, but advertisements on TV or phone can be of great assistance to them for
discovering products in trend. As far as advertisers are concerned, it can be of tremendous value for
newly opened businesses to gain popularity among people, or to well-known ones to demonstrate
their modern products to the public, who will otherwise barely know about them. For example, in my
country, there is a special program called OLX where everyone can advertise their objects, buy them in
bargain and most importantly trade effortlessly through just advertising, meaning that
advertisements benefit everyone.
In conclusion, though adverts can be advantageous in some regards, its downsides should not be
overlooked as well.
