5.0 PRIOR ACTIVITIES
5.1 Approval of the M/S TRANSCO Engineer has been obtained.
5.2 Testing must be properly planned by a site / project Engineer.
5.3 All the activities are carried out in accordance with the approved HSE
    Procedure.
6.0 METHOD STATEMENT FOR INSTRUMENT CABLE TESTING:
• Prior to transport to site, cable drums shall be inspected for mechanical damage.
Where damage to cable drum is observed, the cable drum shall be opened and cable
Shall be inspected. If there is damage to cable, this shall be reported to site supervisor.
• Ensure that test equipment (Megger) is made available at the test area and with valid
Calibration stickers and certificates.
• Immediately after testing of each phases, Voltage residue shall be drain by using
Grounding stick which is directly connected to earth ground.
• Surrounding of the testing area shall be cordoned off and access restricted to
Authorized person. Safety warning sign boards shall be provided.
• The continuity of each core shall be checked
• The insulation resistance between cores and between individual cores and screen or
Armoring as applicable shall be checked
• The result shall be recorded on the form. Insulation resistance before installation shall
Be greater than 1 Meg.ohm
• After completion of the tests, the ends of cable shall be sealed to prevent the ingress
Of moisture.
• On the completion laying cables, individual cable length will be tested and recorded on
Method Statement For Control Cable Testing
The form.
• Ensure that cable rating, type, size and cable tag number conforms to specification
And drawing.
• Cables shall be checked for proper supports, earthing, labeling, ferruling, loose
glanding and provisions of shroud (as required)
• After Completion of joining, glanding and end terminations, the cables will be
Subjective to continuity and polarity tests and recorded on the form.
• All duly filled in formats with test results shall be submitted to ADDC engineer for
Approval. If any length of cables is found to have unsatisfactory results after inspection
And testing it will be rejected.
