Personal re ection

I would personally de ne family as anyone who I have some kind of deeper commitment to
be there for. Whether that is because they are apart of my family or they are friends that I
have gotten that close to. I would consider my parents and siblings apart of my family, my
husband, and then a couple of my cousins, aunts, and grandparents.

There is no de nition to describe my family, my family is highly predictable, even to those who
barely know us, and our boundaries are entirely in exible. However, there is little rigidness
with time and structure and somehow someone new joins pretty regularly.

The most important things about my family is the time we spend together. It is incredibly
important to my family that we spend regular time together as a family. It was so important
when I was younger that my parents homeschooled us because they both work as full time
photographers, and photographers typically work evenings. So in order to have time with us,
they had to be able to see us during the day. Even now when we are mostly older, it is still
important that we all see each other at least once a week.

My family supports me in many sweet ways. I came over the other day when I was having a
hard time. My parents have no idea how to provide emotional support, but they provide
support and love in every way they know how to. So when I came over the other day when I
was having a hard time, my mom made me a meal and my dad talked about politics to get my
mind off of whatever I needed to, and my sister got me to get up and dance with her. I
de nitely have a weird family, but I love them.

My father has always been very in charge and my mother has always been very passive. So,
with him growing older, he has his strong opinions, and his growing kids are growing their
own opinions which is making it harder for the family to bond.
