Sermon: The Mysteries of Prayer

Theme Scripture:

1 Corinthians 14:2 (KJV): “For he that speaketh in an unknown

tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man
understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.”

Introduction
Prayer is not just communication with God; it is access into divine realms. The Bible reveals
that prayer is a mystery—not fully understood by the natural mind. There are things that
happen in prayer that cannot be explained with human logic. That’s why we call them “the
mysteries of prayer.”

1. Prayer Connects the Natural with the Supernatural

When we pray, we move beyond our physical limitations and connect with the unseen
spiritual world.

James 5:17-18 – “Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly… and it
did not rain… and he prayed again, and the heavens gave rain.”

Prayer causes natural laws to respond to divine authority.

2. Prayer Releases Divine Secrets and Revelation

One of the mysteries of prayer is that it downloads heavenly wisdom.

Jeremiah 33:3 (KJV): “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty
things, which thou knowest not.”

God is always ready to reveal secrets—but only to those who call.

3. Prayer Transforms the Person Who Prays

You may go into prayer with burdens, sin, or confusion, but prayer changes you.

Luke 9:29 (NIV): “As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes
became as bright as a flash of lightning.”

Jesus’ transfiguration happened while He prayed. Prayer brings transformation.

4. The Mystery of Praying in the Spirit

Praying in tongues or praying in the Spirit unlocks deeper mysteries that the mind cannot
comprehend.
Romans 8:26 (KJV): “The Spirit also helpeth our infirmities… the Spirit itself maketh
intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”
1 Corinthians 14:2: “He that speaketh in an unknown tongue… in the spirit he speaketh
mysteries.”

Speaking in tongues is a supernatural code that connects us to God’s wisdom and will.

5. Prayer Activates Angelic Assistance

Prayer isn’t just a conversation—it activates heavenly forces.

Daniel 10:12-13 (KJV): “From the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand…
thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.”

Daniel’s prayers triggered angelic movement and spiritual warfare in the unseen realm.

6. Prayer Births Divine Will on Earth

Prayer is how God’s will is established on earth.

Matthew 6:10: “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.”

Through prayer, heaven invades earth.

Conclusion
There are many things about prayer we cannot fully explain—but what we know is this:
Prayer works. Prayer is a mystery, but it is also a gift. When you engage it, you begin to
experience:

- Divine transformation
- Spiritual revelation
- Supernatural results
- Angelic help
- Peace beyond understanding

Call to Action
Don’t just pray casually—engage in prayer intentionally. Seek to go deeper. Ask the Holy
Spirit to help you pray beyond words—into the mysteries of God.

Ephesians 6:18 (KJV): “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit…”
