I am Bamangele Dludla and I am writing this letter to express my strong interest for
pursuing a postgraduate diploma in Public Health at the University of KwaZulu Natal. As
a qualified dental therapist who is the product of the university of KwaZulu Natal with
significant clinical experience, I have gained a deep insight into the intricate connection
between oral health and overall wellness. I am eager to enhance my professional
knowledge and extend my influence by participating in public health initiatives aimed at
tackling health inequalities, advocating for preventive care, and aiding in the
development of effective health policies.
For the last two years of my professional experience, I have had the opportunity to
engage closely with patients from diverse age groups and backgrounds, providing them
with extensive dental care and preventive services. This involvement has enhanced my
understanding of the importance of public health in addressing the fundamental causes
of health inequalities and improving health outcomes for diverse communities. I have
observed directly how socioeconomic factors, educational attainment, and healthcare
accessibility impact patient results, especially regarding oral health. It is with this
perspective that I aim to shift my focus from clinical practice to the wider domain of
public health, where I can make a significant contribution to health promotion and
disease prevention this interest is also attributed to by the growing up in a country side
of South Africa where healthcare availability and healthcare education lacks.
The choice to pursue a postgraduate degree in Public Health arises from my aspiration
to gain the essential knowledge and skills to address systemic health challenges that go
beyond individual patient care.Furthermore, I am enthusiastic about investigating
methods to enhance healthcare delivery, with a specific emphasis on integrating oral
health into broader public health strategies and I believe that through my hard work and
dedication this vision can be successful.
I am drawn to the University of KwaZulu-Natal for its interdisciplinary approach to public
health education and its unwavering commitment to tackling global health challenges an
endeavor I can personally attest to as a former student. The university's diverse
curriculum and the opportunity to collaborate with esteemed professionals in the field
are particularly enticing. Engaging in research, gaining hands-on experience, and
participating in collaborative learning at UKZN will equip me with the essential
knowledge and advanced skills needed to effect positive change in public health
systems, particularly in oral health promotion and policy formulation. My ultimate goal is
to develop innovative public health policies that prioritize prevention and accessibility. I
envision a future where oral health is recognized as a fundamental component of overall
wellness, and I am dedicated to contributing to that transformation. Pursuing a
postgraduate diploma in Public Health at UKZN is a vital step toward achieving this
vision, and I am enthusiastic about joining a community that shares my passion for
enhancing public health outcomes.
