4th Grade History Biography Project: Tri-Fold Poster

Project Overview: In this project, you will research an important
historical person and create a tri-fold poster to present your biography.
Your tri-fold poster will help you organize the information you find about
the person you choose and present it in a creative and informative way.
You'll include visuals, a timeline of key events in their life, a list of
interesting facts, and sources you used to research. This will allow you to
share what you've learned with others!
Steps to Complete the Project:
1. Choose Your Historical Figure: Pick an important person from
history. This could be a famous leader, inventor, artist, athlete, or
anyone who made a difference in the world.
2. Research Your Person: Find information about the person you
chose. Use books, websites, and other reliable sources to gather
details about their life. Use this packet to help you brainstorm and
gather information. (Be sure to write down the names of the
sources you use as you go!)
3. Create a Tri-Fold Poster: Once you have your research, it's time to
make your tri-fold poster. The tri-fold poster is divided into three
sections, and each section will include the following:
Section 1: Title and Visuals
o Title: Write the name of the person you researched in large
letters at the top of the poster.
o Visuals: Include at least 2-3 pictures, drawings, or photos of
your person or things related to them. You can draw them,
print them from the computer, or use magazine cutouts.
Section 2: Timeline of Events (6-10 events)
o Create a timeline that shows important events in the person's
life. Pick at least 6-10 key events to highlight.
o Each event should have a brief description (at least one
complete sentence) and a date.
o Arrange the events in chronological order (from the beginning
of their life to the end).
Section 3: Facts and Citations
o List of Facts: Using the information you gathered in this
packet about your person, list these facts about them on your
board.
o Citations: Write down where you found your information
(books, websites, etc.) at the bottom of the poster. This is
important to show where your facts came from.
4. Design Your Poster:
o Make sure your poster is neat, colorful, and easy to read. Use
markers, colored pencils, or any materials you like to decorate
the poster. Organize your information so it is clear and easy to
follow.
o You can add bullet points, borders, and other decorations to
make your poster interesting.
5. Prepare to Present:
o When your tri-fold poster is finished, you’ll be presenting your
biography to the class. You’ll explain what you learned about
the person, highlight important events, and share your facts.
o You may choose to dress up as your historical figure when
presenting!
o Be sure to speak clearly and confidently when presenting!
Due Date:
