Circulation system of drilling rig
Drilling rig circulation systems - consist of interconnected devices and structures
designed to perform the main functions:
• drilling fluid preparation
• drilling mud cleaning from harmful impurities
• pumping and operational regulation of well
Mechanical properties of the drilling fluid
*We use the drilling fluid to control subsurface pressure.
Drilling muds have 4 basic properties that determine the behavior of the mud:
- viscosity
- density
- gel-strength
- filtration
The circulation system includes
• suction and pressure lines of pumps
• containers for storing the solution
• storage tanks
• control and measuring devices, etc.
Drilling rig circulation system – help to deliver the drill fluid from wellhead to
mud pumps, from cleaning adjusted with chemicals and storage
Drilling rig circulation system - serves for
preparation
storage of drilling fluid into the well.
injection
It includes operations:
cleaning the solution from sludge;
purification of the solution from gas;
chemical treatment of the fluid;
Pumps. Pumps and swivels must be suitable for the nominal depth of drilling
well.
In the absence or failure of a degasser to remove gas from the drilling fluid and
return it to the tank for next step of preaparation of drilling fluid. It is necessary to
have powerful mechanisms for mixing drilling fluid with chemicals to prepair it
Each containers of mud tanks – has rectangular cross-section with a useful
volume 30 - 40 m3 per liter
Blowout equipment:
- should connect with drilling rig circulation system
- work together to control the well efficiently
Different types of the pumps joining to the circulation system.
1) Drilling pumps that we used during the drilling operations
2) Booster pumps which we use in the process of exploration the drilling
well.
The functions performed by the various components of the drilling rig circulation
system include:
Preparation of drilling fluid
Cleaning of waste drilling fluid
Supply of solution to the well for the implementation of the drilling process
Storage of drilling fluid in special containers
