WHY DID WE CHOOSE THIS?
Solar ovens are an innovative way to cook food without using electricity or gas. They are a
great way to reduce energy consumption and help the environment, solar ovens use the sun's
energy to heat up food, making them a great alternative to traditional cooking methods.
Solar ovens have been around for centuries but they have recently become more popular due
to their environmental benefits. Now-a-days it is important to protect the environment
ourselves, because it is very important for all living being on the planet.
USES OF A SOLAR OVEN.
They use the sun’s energy to heat up food, making them a great option for those looking to
reduce their carbon footprint. Solar ovens have many advantages over traditional ovens,
including being more efficient and cost-effective. Additionally they are a great way to protect
the environment by reducing emissions from burning fossil fuels. This project will discuss the
uses, advantages, innovation, and importance of solar ovens as well as why they are a better
option than normal ovens for protecting the environment.
GUIDE ON MAKING A SOLAR OVEN/COOKER.
Step 1: Materials
The first step is to gather all the materials needed to make a solar oven. The
basic materials needed are a cardboard box, aluminum foil, a sheet of clear
plastic or glass, black paint, and glue. You will also need a thermometer, a ruler,
a marker, and a pair of scissors.
Step 2: Preparing the Box
The cardboard box will be the frame of the solar oven. Choose a box that is large
enough to fit a pot or a pan inside. Using the ruler and the marker, draw a square
on the top of the box, leaving a margin of about 1 inch from the edges. Cut the
square out using the scissors. This will be the lid of the solar oven.
Step 3: Painting the Box
Paint the inside of the box black. This will help absorb the heat from the sun and
transfer it to the food. You can use any kind of black paint, such as acrylic or
spray paint.

Step 4: Lining the Box with Aluminum Foil
Line the inside of the box with aluminum foil. This will help reflect the sunlight
and trap the heat inside the box. Use glue to stick the foil to the cardboard.
Step 5: Adding the Clear Plastic or Glass Sheet
On the underside of the lid, attach the clear plastic or glass sheet using glue or
tape. This will allow the sunlight to enter the oven and heat up the food.
Step 6: Testing the Oven
Before using the solar oven, test it to make sure it reaches high temperatures.
Place a thermometer inside the oven and close the lid. Place the oven in direct
sunlight and monitor the temperature. The oven should reach a temperature of
at least 150 degrees Fahrenheit. If the oven is not reaching high enough
temperatures, adjust the design or add more insulation.
Step 7: Cooking with the Solar Oven
To cook with the solar oven, place the food in a pot or a pan and put it inside the
oven. Close the lid and position the oven so that it faces the sun directly. The
food will cook slowly over a few hours, depending on the amount of sunlight
available. Check the food regularly to make sure it is cooking evenly.
