Cut the yarn, leaving a 15 cm/ 6 in tail. Draw the yarn tail through the remaining live sts and
pull to close top of the hat.

Finishing
Sew with the black yarn a face in each polar bear as shown in the chart below.
Weave in all yarn ends.

If yo haven’tatteched the brim at the hat yet, do it now with some sts using your red yarn.

Work a pompom:
Paint two circles on a pice of cardboard with a diameter of about 2.5 in / 6.5 cm and in each
you paint a circle with a diameter of about 0.8 in / 2 cm (= the hole). Cut them out and lay
them on each other. Then take your white yarn and wound it around the cardboard (pull the
yarn through the hole around the cardboard and through the hole again) till there is no card-
board visible and it is hard to see a hole in the middle. Then cut through the yarn on the edge
in the middle of the two crdboards. Take a long pice of yarn and put it between the card-
boards wind it around the yarn in the middle and make a knot (the yarn in the middle is
attached with that sling and knot). Take away the cardboards and you can trim your pompom
as you wish, but leave the yarn which you used for the sling. You’ll need it to attach the
pompom on the hat. (If you need pictures how to do it, you’ll find help in the world wide web)
Attach your pompom on the top of your hat and weave in the ends.
