FIRST AID EQUIPMENT & ITS USAGE

Elastic Wrap (Also known as Tensor


wrap)
Used to provide compression to muscle
injuries especially joints such as wrists, ankles,
and knees. Can also be used to secure a splint or
as a pressure dressing to control bleeding in
combination with gauze or an abdominal pad.

Gloves: Nitrile
Latex-Free nitrile gloves to protect the first
aider form the patients’ bodily fluids. Nitrile
gloves have more tear resistance and increased
dexterity compared to vinyl gloves.

Sterile Gauze
Used to cover and assist with bleeding
control for wounds. Comes in a variety of sizes to
fit different wounds. Can be loosened for removal
by soaking with water. Should be changed when
wet or dirty and at least every 24 hours.

Trauma Shears (Scissors)


Used to cut away clothing to exposure an
injury for better first aid. Can also be used to cut
bandages and splints to size. Trauma shears are
designed to easily cut through many types of
clothing including belts and zippers if necessary.

Triangular Bandage
Can be used to secure a dressing to a
wound or bleed, attach a splint, create a sling
and swath for an injured arm as well as many
other improvised first aid applications. Includes 2
safety pins to assist in securing bandage.

IMPORTANCE OF FIRST AID IN OUR DAILY LIVING


First aid is a life-saving technique which people prefer to save
lives with minimal equipment. First aid includes simple procedures
which are aided with some common sense. It is not classified as a
medical treatment and cannot be comparable to a medical
professional. It is a special practical and immediate care for an injury
or sudden illness administered until professional medical help is
available.

1. HELPS TO INCREASE SAFETY


The basis of first aid training is PREVENTION. It is perpetually
higher to be safe than to be sorry. By gaining the knowledge related to
first aid, it promotes the sense of safety and wellbeing among people,
prompting them to be additionally alert and safe within the
surroundings they reside in. Awareness and desire to free from
accidents keep everyone secure, reducing the quantity of casualties
and accidents.

2. HELPS IN SAVING LIVES


If an individual who is trained for first aid administration, happens
to ascertain any casualty in his neighborhood, immediate action may
be taken, and lives be saved. whereas its natural for many folks to rush
to support any injured/disabled person, a trained person is additional
reliable, assured and up to the mark of himself and his actions whereas
in critical situations.

3. HELPS RELEIVE PAIN

First aid is the immediate and temporary care given to the victim
of an accident or sudden illness to preserve life, assist recovery and
prevent aggravation of the condition, until the services of a doctor can
be obtained or during transport to hospital or to the casualty’s home.
