INTRODUCTION OF 4IR
The first Industrial Revolution was a period where we put to use the
power of mechanical equipment, water and steam engines. The second
Industrial Revolution was the period where we put use of electricity and
mass production. The Third Industrial Revolution was a period where we
put to use of the Computerized machines and robots here now we have tools
that can build many times faster than tools we had. With that being said,
then comes the development of fourth industrial revolution which was
never done with more advanced technology.
What is fourth industrial revolution?
Is the era/time where machine intelligence surpasses human sense of
understanding. Here we have minimal man power as robots(machine) do
most of the work faster than a human being, therefore there would be more
and faster production of services and other things.
The 4th Industrial revolution is made up of different components which are:
1. The internet of things
The Internet of things (IoT) describes physical objects (or groups of such
objects) with sensors, processing ability, software, and other technologies
that connect and exchange data with other devices and systems over
the Internet or other communications networks
IoT technology is most synonymous with products pertaining to the concept
of the "smart home", including devices and appliances (such as lighting
fixtures, thermostats, home security systems, cameras, and other home
appliances) that support one or more common ecosystems, and can be
controlled via devices associated with that ecosystem, such
as smartphones and smart speakers. IoT is also used in healthcare systems
2. A cyber-physical system (CPS)
or intelligent system is a computer system in which a mechanism is
controlled or monitored by computer-based algorithms.
Examples of CPS include smart grid, autonomous
automobile systems, medical monitoring, industrial control
systems, robotics systems, and automatic pilot drone.
3. Autonomous automobile (Self driving)
is a car incorporating vehicular automation, that is, a ground vehicle that is
capable of sensing its environment and moving safely with little or no human
input. Self-driving cars combine a variety of sensors to perceive their
surroundings, such as thermographic cameras, radar, lidar, sonar and GPS.
Importance of fourth industrial Revolution
Allows us to change data into information
Increases production and efficiency , lower prices, more goods,
improved wages, migration from rural areas to urban areas
Allows us to make smarter choices faster
Reduces human effort
Reduces transportation and communication costs
Improved working and living conditions
