Mechanical engineering is always fascinating, It is not just a field of study but a way to bring
practical solutions to life. From my education to my professional career, I have stayed deeply
committed to learning, innovating, and contributing to technological development. Now, I’m
ready to pursue a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at one of the best Indian Institutes
of Technology. I completed my B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering from Sonargaon University
with a CGPA of 3.27 in 2023 and a Diploma in Marine Engineering with CGPA 3.23 from the
Institute of Marine Technology, Faridpur in 2019. Throughout my academic life, I developed a
strong foundation in Mechanical design, Engine maintenance, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics,
and manufacturing processes. My final year research project was a molecular dynamics
simulation of Copper and Platinum nanoparticles using LAMMPS, and gave me practical
experience in nanotechnology and heat transfer. This research increased my curiosity and
excitement to work in Mechanical fields like computational mechanics and energy systems.
For instance, I have always tried to keep myself engaged in extracurricular activities. I was
actively involved in Sonargaon University’s Robotics Club and engine assembling group as a
helping organiser, where I helped coordinate student workshops and placements. These
experiences developed my leadership, teamwork, project management abilities and networking. I
have also learn Mechanical designing like SolidWorks and Autocad. I have completed
Solidworks courses, such as Solidworks 2D and drafting designing, Solidworks 3d model creator
and 3Dswymer and got international certificates. I have also participated in workshops related to
aeromodelling and simulation-based design, further expanding my practical knowledge and
exposure.
Professionally, I have worked in both the engineering and finance sectors, which has made me
more creative. After graduating in mechanical Engineering, I joined Bangla Trac Limited. I
worked there for almost six months as an Assistant Mechanical Engineer, and I was responsible
for product design using software like SolidWorks and Autocad, as well as evaluating
automation. Present time, I work as an Officer at Nagad Limited, where I am assigned to work
with a specific business model to improve its financial and customer service quality through
various skills and strategies. These kinds of roles have helped me develop a creative and
managerial mindset that I believe is crucial for any engineering work. While I am scheduled to
appear for the GRE and IELTS exams next month, I am very confident that my academic
background, project, and industrial experience will show my potential. I know the deadline is
tight, but I am prepared to submit all necessary documents and scores as soon as possible.
Pursuing a master’s degree at IIT will be a turning point in my life. The cutting-edge research,
expert faculty at IITS perfectly align with my career goals. I envision myself working on
sustainable engineering solutions that serve both developing and developed nations, and I’m
confident that IIT will be the perfect launchpad for that vision.
Thank you for considering my application.
Sincerely,
Sumon Roy
