GEH 122 - Art Appreciation

Activity 1
ANALYSIS:
Answer the following questions:
a. What did you see? Enumerate 5 – 10 things that were most notable in the
place. Describe them briefly.
1. Qu’ran – This book has been displayed long ago, however, the color
and its content are still in good condition.
2. Sapeeyo – The patterns are well detailed.
3. B’laan and Manobo Attire – The color and its fabric are different.
4. Kabil – Good as new
5. A picture of Miss Malita – Her picture caught my attention because she
looks like my mom when she was younger.

b. Describe your visit: How did it awaken your senses? Did you feel relaxed,
excited, curious, or intrigued?

Answer: My visit to the museum was cool. It made me feel curious and
excited. There were lots of interesting things to see, like old stuff, pictures
of great people, money that has been kept for so long, cultural materials,
and tribal attire. I liked how everything was displayed, and it made me
wonder about the stories behind each item. The colors and shapes also
caught my eye and made me feel kind of relaxed. It was a fun and
interesting experience that made me want to learn more about cultural
history and art.

c. Why is this industry of making art or other cultural materials in your

place? When did they start? Why do they do it and keep at it? (You may
modify and fit these questions to your chosen venue.)

Answer: The Museum of Malita is not that big, however, many cultural
materials were displayed and pictures with different stories to tell. Rooted
in tradition, and it started long ago as a means of expressing identity and
history. People continue to keep these materials to preserve culture and
identity.
