TYPE OF LOADS TO MANAGE

The knowledge of the loads to be controlled, for both the light point and the shutters motor etc., is essential for the proper
choice of the type of actuator to be used.
The parameters for the selection are the following:
type of load to be controlled (light point or shutters and curtains electric motor);
„„
management mode (ON/OFF, Dimmer, timed switch off, monostable UP/DOWN, etc.).
„„

To make a functional installation, i.e. based on a good compromise between cost and performance in terms of contacts
current capacity, choose devices taking into account the table below.

DEVICES LAYOUT (POWER SUPPLIES AND ACTUATORS)

DEPENDING ON THE ROOM

Follow these recommendations:

1, 2 or 3 rooms: it is appropriate to centralize the DIN actuators layout in the electric/home distribution board and
„„
distribute the flush mounted actuators.
more than 3 rooms: centralize and, where appropriate, distribute the actuators in junction boxes. Select the shutters
„„
actuator preferably "flush mounted".
more floors: provide an electric distribution board for each floor where to centralize the actuators. Where appropriate
„„
install the actuators in junction boxes.

In addition to the above recommendations, the centralized or distributed layout of the products must be chosen taking into
account also the cost and functionality factors.

In the following table it is possible to evaluate the advantages of the two installation types in relation to the initial wiring
complexity, to the maintenance phases, to the cost and flexibility of the system, understood as the possibility of making
changes to the existing wiring.

It is also advised to leave space available in the most suitable location, with the exception of the interior of the DIN
switchboard for the installation of a SCS/ZigBee interface, which is useful for the system extension by using battery-powered
ZigBee radio control devices.

Warning:
Local display and touch screen devices must be installed preferably at a height of 1.6 m above the floor. This height is
reduced to 1.2 m if the devices are intended for people with disabilities or handicapped.

DEVICE SELECTION

The knowledge of the system to be managed is fundamental for the correct choice of the sensors and actuators. In this case it
is necessary to interface with the technician and/or plumber who must implement the system to share the following design
information:
type of system: radiators, fan-coil (2 pipe, 4-pipe, n. speed) or radiant floor panels, presence of Splitter for Air Conditioning.
„„
If the system will be integrated with HVAC systems, ask technical support to the branch office.

Burglar-alarm system – red BUS cable

ELEMENTS TO EVALUATE FOR THE SELECTION:

For the selection of items to consider the two types of system achievable:
basic protection system of perimeter and/or volumetric type;
„„
full protection system, that in addition to basic protection, provides services at the occurrence of an intrusion event,
„„
such as sending messages by phone from the central unit communicator or from the MyHOME_Web portal and/or the
activation of automated systems (home lights switching on).

Type of house to protect

The characteristics of the home determine the choice of the protections (volumetric, perimeter and/or mixed) and the
number of zones in which to divide the system. The following table shows some recommendations depending on the type of
home.

Design approach methodology: basic protection and full protection

In addition to the criteria listed on the previous page, the approach to a new MyHome Burglar-alarm system design, at layout
level, can be carried out according to the degree of protection offered by the system:
Basic protection: i.e. based on the essential protection of the house by means of magnetic contacts on entrance doors
„„
and windows, on the use of one or more IR sensors for volumetric protection and an external siren.
Full protection: in addition to the features described above, the system offers additional functions such as alarm signal
„„
even with internal sirens, sending phone messages and activation of automation scenarios through integration with other
MyHOME systems.

For the selection of the devices refer to the following table; for detailed information relating to the devices refer to the
Burglar-alarm section of this guide.

PRELIMINARY DESIGN AND SYSTEM LAYOUT

Sound system – white BUS cable

ELEMENTS TO EVALUATE FOR THE SELECTION:

The system design must be carried out jointly considering the following factors:

1. Design of the project: of functional or economic type.

2. Type of room: residential or service sector (Offices, doctor’s surgery, shops, etc.).

3. System features:
basic stereo type with 1 single sound source, in this case the system will be single channel stereo and the sound source
„„
will diffuse the music in all environments;
with two or more sound sources: in this case the system is multichannel stereo: different sound sources simultaneously
„„
diffuse the music in several rooms.
The system, without the installation of specific devices can be easily integrated with other MyHOME applications such as
2-WIRE video door entry system.

Design approach methodology: functional or economic.

FUNCTIONAL: that is based on a good compromise between cost and functionality in which he main priority is selecting
which functions to include, and the possibility of making the system ready for future expansion is also taken into account.
ECONOMIC: that is based on the cost of the system creation. It does not preclude the use of different potentials offered by
the home automation system but provides for example, the use of devices of different types (lower cost), without taking into
account future expansion of the system.

TYPE OF ROOM.

To ensure a correct setting of the work, it is

fundamental to have a layout of the environment
to evaluate, depending on the amplitude, the
following elements:
- Type and amount of loudspeakers;
- Amount of amplifiers.
- Control devices type and position.

56 MyHOME Project guidelines

For an "indicative" sizing of the system depending on the environment to be covered by the sound system, refer to the
following table. The number and type of items are defined considering environments such as (4-room apartments or

System integration - scenario management

As shown in the table on the previous pages, the integration between different systems allows to create special
environmental situations, called "scenario", formed by the simultaneous activation of multiple devices.
The scenarios are of 2 type:

1 Automatic and scheduled scenario: this

application, which can be made using the device
item MH200N, allows to send a control at a preset
time, and at the occurrence of a condition, or to act
on scenarios preset in the scenario programmer
item MH200N or in MyHOME_Screen 3.5. The user
can mange the scenario using the same devices
described for the manual scenario.

2 Manual Scenario: in this case the
user interacts with the particular
devices such as the scenario central
unit, the special control, the Local
Display, the Touch Screen type

programmed to activate different
functions simultaneously (turning on
lights, moving shutters, turning on
the background music ans setting
an optimum temperature). For the Control Scenario module

creation and management of these for the saving up to 16
scenarios it is necessary to install management scenarios

and/or scenario controls type 4680 in
the Automation BUS.

In addition to the two scenarios

described, it is possible to achieve
advanced functions. For example,
thanks to the integration through the
interface F422 of the Burglar alarm
with the Automation system, in the
event of a burglary, in addition to the
activation of the siren it is possible to
automatically turn on all the lights in
the house to deter the intruder.

PRELIMINARY DESIGN AND SYSTEM LAYOUT

Data network system– LAN cable

The data network cabling allows to prepare the home for:

the ADSL signal diffusion in the various environments for the purpose of using the Internet services, such as data, TV and
„„
IP telephony;
the use of devices with Ethernet connection for central control, whether local or remote, of the home automation
„„
functions (e.g. Touch screen) and for collection and display of energy consumption (Energy data logger F524);
prepare an access point for updating and programming the devices via LAN (Web server,
„„
Touch screen, .....).

Connectors for LAN wiring

The elements to evaluate for the products selection are mainly:

1. The number of RJ45 sockets to be positioned in the rooms; indicatively it is advisable to install
a socket in every room of the building if it is for residential use and two or more sockets if the
building is used for the service sector. Prepare nearby power sockets for users power supply.

Switch F551
2. the type of active and not active equipment, such as data switches, patch panels,
ADSL filter, etc. for the management and distribution of signals to the RJ45
connectors. The choice of these products depends on the characteristics and extent
of the LAN required.

In particular, if the modem router provided for connection to the Internet is not
equipped with a switch function, consider the use of one or more Switch devices item
F551 for the distribution of multiple data signals in the LAN.

3. The need to achieve local and centralized

control of the home automation

Duct fastener plate

In order to facilitate the entry of cables, MyHOME FLATWALL (for the 240-270 h version)
has been designed to allow the entry of several corrugated ducts, both through the bottom
section, where they can be easily secured thanks to the duct fastener plate, and from the
sides, through knockout holes. This operation is not required for the Flatwall h150 version.

* The Flatwall metal structure screens the Wi-Fi signal. Therefore, the installation of an external antenna must be allowed for at the design stage.
