PACKAGING SPECIFICATION IN SAP EWM

What is Packaging Specification in SAP EWM?

A packaging specification in SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) is master data

that defines all packing instructions and packing levels for a product. It specifies how and in
what quantities products are to be packed into different packaging materials (boxes,
cartons, pallets) based on factors such as material type, process, or quantity.Define Number
Range for Packaging Specification.

Automated Packing: Packaging specifications automate the packing process, removing

manual steps and standardizing how SKUs are packed for warehousing and shipment.

Packing Levels: A specification can have multiple levels (for example, how many units per
box, boxes per pallet), with target quantities at each level.

Work Steps: Instructions for warehouse operators (such as labelling or stacking) can be
included.

Element Groups: Each level contains an element group. Elements consist of packaging
material and/or a work step

Integration: Used in inbound delivery, outbound delivery, packing station, slotting,

palletization, and more.
