1. What three words would you use to describe yourself? Why?

Three words that describe me are

courageous, adventures, and confidence. I am courageous because I am not afraid to ask for
help from my teachers and peers. I think that my thearches think that I am very courageous
because I always enjoy learning new subjects and going for walks in the woods around campus. I
am adventurous because I am always exploring the James River and the barrier islands off of the
Eastern Shore. While on the Islands I try new things from swimming across small rivers that are
separating each island to seeing how far I can walk around the islands. I am very confident
because I never back down when given a difficult challenge. Challenges are a way to help me
better understand a subject or problem in the world.

2. What do you think is the most important thing for us to know about you?

An important thing to know about me is that I am a good leader. My leadership skills are shown
inside and outside of school. Inside of school when working on group projects, I keep an opened
mind so that the groups work has everybody’s ideas implemented into it. Before we are ready
to turn in a project, I always double check my work and everyone else’s work to make sur
everyone did their part and that it is done to the best of our ability. Outside of school my
leadership is shown when mountain biking. I am always the leader of the group to make sure
we don’t get lost and to test to see if a feature is safe to ride on. When I am with my family I
am the first to try something even if no one else wants to do it.

3. How would your teachers describe you?

My teachers would describe me as hard-working, supportive, and funny. I am very hard
working when it comes to projects and out of school challenges. In school I am always
striving to do the most complete and best work that’s achievable. When the school
offers outside of school things such as fundraisers like running I am always up for the
challenge. This year I ran a 5K race for change for kids who are battling cancer. This
years chosen person was for a boy named Cooper and the foundation that they created
in his memory. I am very supportive when working with a kindergarten buddy and with
kids who ask for my help around the middle school. My teachers think I am funny
because I am always telling stories about my adventures and how I always end up
getting lost but finding my way back after walking for a long time. What always makes
them laugh is when I tell them the moral of the story.

4. Why did you choose to apply to St. Christopher’s?

I choose to apply to St. Christopher’s because I love the campus, buys, and teachers.
Sense I was a kindergarten I have been going to your summer camp. Here I played
sports and climbed on the Rockwall. While doing these activities I received tons of
support from fellow campers who during the school year, go to St. Christopher’s. For
me, applying for St. Christopher’s means that I can have the opportunity to experience
that companionship during the school year.

5. At our school, we value the sharing of diverse experiences. Tell us what diversity you would
bring to St. Christopher’s

The diversity I would bring to St. Christopher’s is that I have been to both public and private
schools and that I have been a Senate Page. I think being at a public school gave me the
opportunity to learn how to use what I had been given to me to the best of my ability. Being at
St. Michaels I have learned how to ask teachers for help and how to have manners. Becoming a
senate page will teach me how to keep things organized and how to dress properly.

6. What is your strongest subject?

My strongest subject is History. Sense the first grade I have always loved history because it is
what makes the world go round. Middle school history has been my favorite from learning
about the Mesopotamians to learning about the holocaust and the cold war. Mesopotamia was
the first civilization to have its own written language. In seventh grade we learned about WWII
and the Cold war. I wrote an essay on a Jewish man named Otto K. Schimmel. Otto was a
survivor of the Holocaust who after the war, lived here in Virginia. History has given me the
chance to prove my parents wrong and to learn new things about the world.

7. What is your weakest subject?

My weakest subject is math. Math is relatively fun and I enjoy it but I’m just not good at some parts.
Math is fun because you get to solve real-world problems and everything you do involves some type of
math. In Algebra 1 I am good at solving the numbers but I am not so good at finding the numbers to
solve. Math is also tough because when there are a lot of leters and numbers on one question I try my
hardest but always get something wrong making me become slightly less interested.

8. What subject do you enjoy the most or what subject do you find the most interesting to study?

The subject I enjoy the most and is the most interesting is English. I enjoy English because we
are always learning about a very famous writer like Leo Tolstoy or Shakespeare. I also like
English because it is a time to relax your mind and not worry about doing math or speaking a
different language. I find English the most interesting because sometimes we read an article
that talks about something we are learning about in history. It is also interesting because
sometimes we read something that I think is neat and I dive down deeper. Recently, we just
read a book called Persepolis which talks about the Iranian revolution and how it affected
ordinary people.

9. What book have you read outside of school that had an impact on you? Explain why that book
was meaningful.
A book that I read outside of school was Where the Red Fern Grows. This book is about a boy
who is eager to buy to hounds. After a year of saving, he finally finds the right litter and instead
of buying one dog he buys two. Every day he trained the dogs to learn how to coon hunt. He
made collars for them and gave them the perfect place to live in the mountains. This book had
an impact on me because like the boy, I have two dogs that I have tried to train to do the same
things as his. This book showed me how to live a life of happiness and fortitude.

10. Imagine you could go back in time and observe a historical event in person. What would that
event be and why did you select it?
A historical event I would want to experience in person is when the Europeans and
Native Americans each saw each other for the first time. I would want to experience
what the Europeans thought of the new world after they had been on a ship and not
seen land for over three months. I would then like to see and feel how the Native
Americans though when they saw massive ships with many men aboard. I think that
this moment is important because it was the beginning of a new country being formed.
I selected this event because it would give me a better understanding of how the new
world was formed and how the bad relations between Indians and Europeans cam to
be.

11. Tell us about an important person in your life and how he or she made an impact on what you
value in your life.
An important person in my life is my Great-Grandfather who I never met. His name was Bill and
from a very Early age he had a hard life to overcome. When he was a young boy he grew up on
a farm in Arkansas where he later moved to his Aunt to get a good education in New York.
When WWII broke out he became a Flight Engineer on a B-29. He flew over Germany and
completed his 35 missions without a piece of shrapnel in him. When he returned to the United
States he got married and receded on the Eastern Shore. Here, he became a state senator and
helped create the Virginia state lottery system. Bill inspired me because from a very young age I
have been told stories about his work in the senate. When I became 13 I applied to become a
Senate page in hopes that I could feel ever so closer to Him. Becoming a Senate page has given
me the great opportunity to learn what my great-grandfather did day to day.

12. Describe a time in your life when you experienced a setback that you were eventually able to
overcome.
A time that I experienced a setback was when my family had to get rid of our cat. This
cat was given to my dad by his boss from work because he could not take the cat with
him across the country. Yodet (yo-det) was the cats name because my fathers boss
wanted a cat named Yoda from Star Wars, but he ended up being a she. Yodet was not
the best cat, she peed on my dad’s suits and tore up furniture with her claws. My dad
hated her for the peeing on the suits and my mom hated her for tearing up the
furniture. They decided to send her away. I was very sad and angry because I was
losing someone who I had grown up with. After many weeks I was able to overcome the
situation by talking about why she left and just talking with friends.

13. Describe a time when you observed a social interaction between others that made you
uncomfortable. How did you react to that situation?

A time when I observed a social interaction between others that made me feel uncomfortable was when
My friend was arguing with his mom. The argument was starting to rise and there was one more person
sitting next to me. I said to my friend sitting next to me, “should we say something about a different
subject so they will stop yelling.” We decided that what we were going to do just that. So we raised our
voices and asked them what they thought about the place we were going to. The conversation kept
them off topic in the car ride. After we came out of the car they said sorry to each other and everyone
who was in the car.

14. If I have a few hours of free time, I love to

When I have a Few hours of free time I love to go mountain biking at Pocahontas state park or
fishing on the James River. Mountain biking is a very athletic and fun sport where you can learn new
things every day. Currently, I am trying to cross the creek gap at Pocahontas. While biking I almost
always bring a friend as someone to talk to and someone that can help if you get hurt. This has
proven to help me a lot. While biking with a friend I went over the bars and broke my arm. Luckily
my friend was able to go get help and have someone to make sure that I would get to the hospital
safely.
