COMPANY DATA
 LGU-Catarman is a government office of the Municipality of Catarman, Northern Samar,
headed by Hon. Dianne Esidera Rosales, present municipal mayor. The office is located at
Brgy. Acacia, Catarman, Northern Samar, Region 8. Established by the virtue of the R.A.
No.4211 which was enacted on June 19, 1965. One of its functional department is the
Municipal Engineering Office, led by Engr. Carlito Olesco Danque, Municipal
Engineer/Building Official. The M.E.O. department handled most of the government projects
within the Municipality of Catarman.

The Municipal Engineering Office of Catarman is responsible for planning,

implementing, and supervising all infrastructure projects within the Municipality. It ensures
that all engineering works complies with national and local standards and promotes
sustainable development through proper urban and rural planning. The office plays a vital
role in public service by overseeing road constructions, water systems, drainage systems,
proper waste management, commercial buildings, and other government-funded projects.
This involves conducting detailed surveys, inventories, and studies to assess the feasibility
and impacts of these projects to the community. Another key responsibility involves
maintaining and rehabilitating existing infrastructures, which entails conducting inspections
on public facilities such as; Parks, Sidewalks, and Drainage Systems to identify problems that
may compromise public safety and hinder optimal functioning. This helps ensure public
facilities remain safe, functional, and efficient. Furthermore, municipal engineers also play a
vital role in disaster management by assessing risks imposed by natural disasters such as
floods and earthquakes, developing emergency response plans and implementing measures to
protect citizens in case of calamities. In summary, municipal engineering offices are tasked
with enhancing the quality of life in cities through effective planning, execution, and
management of urban and rural projects while ensuring public safety.

The department is composed of organized personnel, with pleasant backgrounds and

professional record. The knowledge and expertise of their head and engineers is a tool to
ensure that engineering projects within the municipality is effective, efficient, and
economical. The LGU-Catarman Municipal Engineering Office has an Organizational

There are six divisions in the LGU-Catarman Municipal Engineering Office, these
divisions has their own section of responsibilities. The office of the Building Official is
where the inspection and issuance of permits take place. Additionally, the office of the
Building Official reviews public/customer complaints. The Planning and Programming is
responsible for surveying and investigating projects beforehand. Construction and
Maintenance is responsible for implementing and monitoring projects. The administrative
Support is responsible for personnel and records correspondence and information
management system. The division of Material Testing and Quality Control is responsible for
material sampling and assuring its quality. Lastly, the Safety Officer who is responsible in
ensuring that workers follow occupational safety standards. The Municipal Engineering
Office is composed of Municipal Engineer as their head, Architect, Civil Engineer, Electrical
Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Safety Officer, Plumbers, Electricians, Welders, Painters,
and Admin Staff.

Objectives

The exposure to the different work situation is provided to enable the student
experience and observe the practical application of theories learned in the school.

At the end of the internship program, the student should be able to:

a. Identify key positions in the industry and related operations to their corresponding
tasks and responsibility.
b. Define the standard operational procedure in each of the department assigned.
c. Identify and operate the equipment, facilities, and layout design in each of the
department assigned.
d. Perform required skills and techniques necessary in the execution of operational
procedures of the assigned tasks in accordance with the existing workplace, health
and safety standards.

Since we are in the field of Survey and Investigation, we have been to different
sites such as Brgy. Libjo Slaughter House, Brgy. Old Rizal, Catarman Shoppers Ville
and Dry Market, Brgy. Cularima, Brgy. Cal-igang, Brgy. Paticua, Brgy. Imelda, Brgy,
Brgy. Gen. Malvar, Catarman Water District, Brgy. Washington, Brgy. Cag-abaca,
