1. What are the basic ethical issues to consider when sharing personal information in social
Networks?
    - As an adult, I know I have to be responsible for my digital footprint, which means thinking
twice before I post anything. I try to be mindful of the kind of content I share, who can
see it, and how it could affect me in the long run. Oversharing or posting the wrong thing
could ruin relationships or even affect my future opportunities. So when I share personal
information on social networks, I always think about privacy because anything can
literally be copied, shared, saved, or even pirated my information without my consent,
even when you try to set strict privacy settings. The basic ethical issues would be risks
like unwanted exposure, identity theft, or even targeted harassment. I believe that as an
adult that it is my responsibility to make sure sensitive details such as my location,
personal information, number, etc. try to think ahead before posting anything that could
put me or the people around me at risk (Rosales, 2025). I also know that a lot of apps
and websites collect user data for marketing or other purposes, so it’s important to be
aware of what information I’m giving away (Kemp, 2024). I avoid giving away too much
personal info and stay aware of possible cybersecurity risks (Livingstone et al., 2021). I
also try to respect other people’s privacy by asking permission before posting photos or
tagging them. Even if I think it’s harmless, it could still embarrass someone or cause
problems later on. For me, being responsible online isn’t just about protecting myself, it’s
also about respecting the privacy of others (Global Media Journal, 2023).
2. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the Data Privacy Act of 2012?
   - The Data Privacy Act of 2012 is very useful because it protects personal information and
requires organizations to handle data responsibly. It gives people, including students like
me, the right to know how our information is used and the right to request corrections if it
is inaccurate. This helps create a sense of trust, especially when submitting documents
to schools, companies, or online platforms (National Privacy Commission, 2025). The
law also punishes those who misuse or illegally share personal information, which gives
more confidence in using online services. However, this law also has disadvantages. Not
everyone is aware of their rights under the Data Privacy Act, which makes it easier for
some organizations or individuals to exploit personal information. In some cases, strict
privacy regulations can slow down research processes and increase costs, especially
when dealing with sensitive data (Ramirez et al., 2021). While the intention of the law is
good, there needs to be more public awareness and easier implementation so that
everyone, especially students, can benefit from its protections without unnecessary
        barriers.
3. Explain why privacy and confidentiality matter in one’s life.
   - Privacy is important because it creates a safe space where people can share their
thoughts and experiences without fear of judgment or unwanted exposure. When I know
that what I share with a teacher, counselor, or friend will remain confidential, I feel more
comfortable opening up. This trust is especially important when dealing with personal or
emotional issues since it encourages honesty and allows people to seek help without
hesitation (UNICEF, 2024). Maintaining confidentiality also protects mental well-being by
preventing gossip and misunderstandings. Confidentiality is equally important in
professional and academic settings. If personal details such as health conditions or
financial struggles are disclosed without consent, it can cause embarrassment,
discrimination, or loss of opportunities (Agostino & Toulany, 2023). Respecting privacy
promotes a respectful and supportive environment, whether in school, the workplace, or
online. It is a sign of professionalism, empathy, and respect for the dignity of others.
4. What can you do to help prevent and effectively manage the spread of identity theft,
false information, and fake news in the country?
   - I avoid posting sensitive information such as my full name, birth date, address, and
school details in public spaces online. I also use strong passwords, enable two-factor
authentication, and make sure to log out of accounts when using shared devices. In the
Philippines, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) encourages people to verify the
legitimacy of any request for personal or financial information and to regularly check their
accounts for unusual activity (BSP, n.d.). Preventing false information and fake news
starts with being a responsible sharer. If I see news or posts that seem suspicious, I
check them using credible sources such as verified news websites or fact-checking
platforms. The Digital Media Council (2025) has stressed the importance of digital
literacy to combat misinformation. I also talk to my family and friends about being
cautious online, reminding them not to believe or share unverified information.

Examine your goals by writing down your short and long-term
goals. Identify the possible barriers and ways to achieve your
goals.
1. Short-Term
   - My short-term goal is to reduce my weight from 62 kilograms to 48 kilograms before my
scheduled vacation in October. I plan to accomplish this through a balanced diet and
consistent physical activity. I will prioritize oatmeal-based meals, light dinners, and
nutrient-dense snacks to maintain energy levels while supporting gradual weight loss. I
will include walking, gym sessions, jogging, and structured workout routines in my
weekly schedule for exercise. I aim to achieve sustainable results within my set
timeframe by combining healthy eating with regular exercise.
2. Long-Term
   - My long-term goal is to graduate and continue advancing my career in sales and digital
marketing. Although I am currently working in this field, I aspire to achieve more than my
present role offers. I aim to take on a leadership position where I can actively contribute
to my company’s growth strategies while continuously leveling up my skills to stay
competitive in an evolving industry. I also want to create opportunities to travel,
experience new cultures, and broaden my perspective on life. Increasing my earning
potential is a priority, and I am committed to working hard to achieve greater financial
stability. At the same time, I plan to maintain a hybrid work-life balance that allows me to
excel professionally while still dedicating quality time to personal interests, family, and
friends. Achieving these ambitions will require continuous learning, active professional
networking, disciplined financial planning, and unwavering dedication to both my
         academic and career growth.
3. Barriers to Achieving Goals
    - One of the main barriers to achieving my goals is effective time management, as I must
balance the demands of work, university, and personal responsibilities. Managing
multiple priorities often leads to limited time for rest, exercise, and skill development.
Another challenge is financial constraints, particularly when it comes to funding travel
opportunities, providing for pet care, and sustaining a healthy lifestyle. These limitations
require careful planning and disciplined budgeting to ensure that my resources are used
         effectively.
4. Ways to Achieve Goals
- I plan to create a well-structured schedule that allocates time for exercise, academic work,
and professional tasks without compromising rest and personal activities to overcome these
barriers. I will follow a realistic budget plan to manage expenses effectively and prioritize
essential costs. Leveraging productivity tools and time-tracking applications will help me meet
deadlines efficiently. Additionally, I will maintain a strong support network by seeking guidance
from friends, mentors, and accountability partners who can help me stay motivated and focused
on my objectives.
Taking charge of yourself:
From the previous lessons, write down concrete ways on
how you (will) take charge on the different areas of Self.
1. Physical Self
    - I am going to maintain a healthier lifestyle by eating balanced meals, exercising
regularly, and getting enough sleep. I will stick to my workout routines, like walking
during school days and going to the gym when I can, to help me stay active and
       energized.
2. Sexual Self
    - I will prioritize safety, respect, and boundaries in relationships. I will continue to educate
myself about sexual health and make informed choices that protect my well-being. I will
also maintain open and honest communication with people I trust, making sure I’m
comfortable with any situation involving intimacy.
3. Material/Economic Self
    - I will manage my finances wisely by budgeting, saving, and avoiding unnecessary
expenses. I plan to separate my savings from my spending money and ensure I have an
emergency fund. I will also continue to look for ways to earn extra income, so I can
support both my needs and future goals.
4. Spiritual Self
    - I will find time to reflect, meditate, and appreciate moments of peace. I want to
strengthen my connection with my faith and values, using them as a guide in my
         everyday decisions.
5. Political Self
    - I will stay informed about current events and social issues, especially those that affect
my community, by regularly reading reliable news sources, attending forums, and
engaging with educational content about governance and civic responsibilities. I believe
that being politically aware allows me to make informed decisions, especially when
         voting or supporting initiatives.
6. Digital Self
- I will use social media and online platforms responsibly. I will manage my screen time, avoid
toxic online interactions, and protect my privacy. I will also make sure that what I share online
reflects my values and leaves a positive impact.
Story of Amanda Taylor
I’m a mixed chick born and raised in Gainesville, Florida. No one ever thought I’d be anything,
no one graduated high school in my family. My mother worked at Taco Bell and my father fled
the country on criminal charges when I was three. I grew up in an abusive home with my two
younger brothers. By 12th grade, I had been raped, molested, abused, homeless and hungry. I
remember every detail of my childhood very vividly, every man my mother brought to the house,
everyone she left us for, and the one who tried to drown my brother in the bathtub while she ran
to the store. I remember living in a trailer with no electricity, a tarp for a wall and a piece of
plywood where the floor was supposed to be. I remember moving every single year from one
project to another. I remember seeing so much violence as a child that I became desensitized to
it. It was just a part of life.I remember being homeless, walking miles as a child, bus after bus
with my brothers, just to get to the free food lines. I remember waiting in the food stamp line for
what seemed like forever just so my mother could hand us all a brown food stamp dollar to
spend at the ice cream truck. I remember sneaking out of my window at night just so I could
sleep in a quiet place, so I wouldn’t be tired the next day at school. I don’t know what it means
to be broken or weak because growing up, survival meant I had to be strong and vigilant. They
told me to drop out of school when I was 15 to learn a trade, but I didn’t. I was the first person in
my family to graduate high school. Until I was accepted into the University of Florida, the
teachers, the career counselor and my mother told me that I wouldn’t. They said I couldn’t be a
doctor, so I said, “watch me!” I feel at home in the struggle, it motivates me like nothing else.
From the mud I was formed and out of the mud I grew. I lost my best friend in 2010, I’ve been
divorced twice now at 32, and I am a single parent with two toddler boys. My story isn’t sad, it’s
real. This is real life! Nothing sugar coated about it just like me. I don’t need your validation. I’m
not swayed by your opinion. I know who I am and the value that I possess. Every struggle that I
have endured I’ve strategically mapped out so that I can share it with you. My father from
Kingston and my mother from New York both grew up in poverty as I did. So, what did I
become? What I always was buried deep beneath the mud. A diamond, too tough to break, too
beautiful to ignore. Love — I became love — unconditional, unwavering, strong and pure.
Questions to ponder:
1. Give as many descriptions as you can about the personality of Amanda.
   - Amanda’s personality is a full of strength, determination, and self-awareness. She knows
her worth and doesn’t let other people’s opinions define who she is or what she can do.
Despite going through abuse, homelessness, and loss, she never gave up on herself or
her future. She is unapologetic, strong-willed, and uses her pain as motivation to push
forward. She proves that even after going through so much, a person can still be loving
and compassionate. I can relate to this because, like Amanda, I have faced challenges
that forced me to be strong even when I felt exhausted or unsure of what would happen
        next.
2. Which sentences in her story do you like best? Cite your reasons why you like them.
   - The sentence that I like best from her story is “From the mud I was formed and out of the
mud I grew.” I like this because it shows how someone can rise from the hardest
situations and still become something beautiful and strong. It reminds me that my past or
current struggles do not decide my future. I can grow despite the challenges I face, just
like I have in my own life when I overcame personal, financial, and emotional struggles.
3. In Amanda’s experience in pain, how would you relate to yourself dealing with your own pain?
   - In Amanda’s experience with pain, I can relate to how she chooses strength over giving
up. I deal with my own pain by being logical and keeping it to myself until I am able to
overcome it. I usually focus on finding solutions to my problems and handle my emotions
in a way that will not harm others. Most of the time, I write in my journal, go on nature
trips, or do anything that makes me genuinely happy. Doing these things reminds me of
how big the world is and how small my problems actually are. I have also gone to
therapy and consulted with a psychiatrist to help me heal and understand myself better.
These steps allow me to process my pain in a healthy way while still moving forward with
        my life.
4. Identify at least 3 unpacking the self, happened with Amanda.
   - This is when she realized her value, even though people told her she would not
succeed, when she proved everyone wrong by graduating high school and getting into
college, and when she decided to see her struggles as a source of strength instead of
something to be ashamed of. I’ve had similar experiences, like learning to value myself
beyond what others think, achieving goals even when I was doubted, and turning my
challenges into motivation to work harder.
5. What characteristics do you think Amanda made when she set her free from her own pain?
   - Amanda freed herself from pain by believing in herself, staying persistent, and keeping
her emotional strength. She did not allow her past to control her future, and instead, she
chose to focus on becoming the best version of herself. She has also decided not to let
her past or current struggles turn her into someone cold or bitter. I honestly like her
mindset because I really relate to her. Sometimes we just have to choose to be kind, but
still protect our peace and focus on the life we want to build.
6. What seems to be the life goal of Amanda?
    - Amanda’s life goal seems to be to live authentically, break free from cycles of hardship,
and become a source of love and strength for herself and for others. She wants to prove
through her own journey that no matter how difficult the beginning may be, it is always
possible to grow, heal, and succeed. Her experiences have shaped her into someone
resilient and compassionate, and she hopes to inspire people to believe in their own
ability to overcome challenges and create a life filled with purpose, kindness, and
       self-acceptance
    -
7. What do you believe to be the factors that enabled Amanda to achieve her goal?
   - The things that helped Amanda achieve her goals were ignoring negativity, having the
drive to prove herself, and using her struggles as motivation. She refused to let the
opinions of others hold her back, choosing instead to focus on her own vision and
capabilities. Every challenge she faced became a stepping stone rather than a stumbling
block, as she learned to turn pain and setbacks into fuel for her determination. Amanda
knew that success wouldn’t come easily, but her resilience allowed her to keep moving
forward, even in moments of doubt. Her struggles shaped her into someone who could
handle pressure with grace and persistence, proving to herself and to others that she
was more than capable of achieving what she set out to do. She became a living
example of how strength, focus, and a positive mindset can turn even the toughest
obstacles into opportunities for growth and success.
     -
8. If you were Amanda, how would you see yourself surviving? Are there things Amanda has
done which you also have also done?
     - If I were Amanda, I would survive by doing what I already do now: staying resourceful,
determined, and adaptable. Like her, I have faced moments when people doubted my
abilities, but I proved them wrong through consistency and effort. Life has tested me in
many ways, shaping my resilience and teaching me how to navigate challenges with
patience and grit. I’ve learned to adapt when plans fall apart, to keep moving even when
things feel uncertain, and to use every obstacle as a stepping stone toward something
better. Just like Amanda, I draw strength from the struggles I’ve overcome, knowing
they’ve prepared me to face whatever comes next.
9. Create a plan on how you will improve your mental health.
    - I have learned to set boundaries and work on healing from my past by trying to accept
that it happened and that it is part of who I am today. I try different hobbies and fun
activities to make life more enjoyable, and I have also discovered that traveling is really
good for my mental health. Being in new places, meeting new people, and experiencing
different environments help me feel refreshed and inspired. Spending time with friends
and family also makes a big difference because it reminds me that I have a strong
       support system.
10. Create a commitment plan where, when and who will be involved in your plan to boost your
mental health.
   - I am committed to improving my mental health by continuing to set healthy boundaries
and practicing self-care every day. I plan to do this both at home and while traveling, as
I’ve learned that exploring new places and environments helps me feel more relaxed and
inspired. I will engage in hobbies, join fun activities, and surround myself with people
who bring positivity and support into my life. This plan will involve my close friends,
trusted family members, and supportive peers who can remind me to prioritize my
well-being. I will also stay open to talking with a counselor or mentor when I feel I need
guidance. My commitment is to make my mental health a priority at all times, no matter
where I am or what I’m doing.
