Outlook

The Climate Outlook for September 2025 to February 2026 indicates a likelihood of ENSO-neutral conditions with a potential for short-lived La Niña conditions. The forecast suggests above-average rainfall in certain areas, which may lead to increased risks of floods and landslides. Monthly rainfall forecasts show varying probabilities across different regions, with some areas expecting above-normal precipitation.

POSSIBLE IMPACTS OF LOOMING LA NINA CONDITIONS:

• TCs may develop near /inside PAR;

• Historically during weak La Nina, more TC occurrences during the
last quarter of the year;
• Higher probability of above normal rainfall; there are areas
forecasted having above normal rainfall in highly vulnerable to
floods and landslides;
• May not develop into a full blown La Niña; but significant impacts
may be experienced and may vary in different areas.
ENSO Alert System Status:

⮚ Cool ENSO-neutral is present in the tropical Pacific;

⮚ Most models predict short-lived La Niña conditions as early as the September-
October-November season until the October-November-December season.
