Introduction
This research reveals about leisure and recreation, which is the constructive use of
of personal enrichment, that human beings make, of the spaces where they improve their
individual and social quality of life, through the practice of physical, playful, and recreational activities
of recreation.
Many times we think that free time should be dedicated to resting, but time
dedicated to it is not free because it is managed by other parameters, one of the alternatives
historical issues that are raised in our days is precisely that leisure time is used for
to develop playful, sports, and recreational activities that allow for a conducive environment in the
relationships of the learners and thus avoid undesirable situations.

Development
Leisure is also associated with escapism, rest, fun, and release of tensions.
Cuenca C. M. (1996) refers to the fact that the experience of leisure does not depend on the activity itself.
neither of time, nor of the economic level, nor of the education that the subject possesses; however,
it seems to be related to the meaning that the experience has for the one who experiences it, with
the expected, the wanted, and the desired. That is why leisure and free time have a relationship
directly with emotion and consequently, with happiness.
It should be noted that free time is known as that time that people dedicate to
those activities that do not correspond to their formal work or essential domestic tasks. Their
a distinguishing feature is that it is a recreational time which can be utilized by "its holder" to
discretion, that is to say, unlike what happens with that free time in which the majority of

to allocate to him. Although, free time, for some, often also includes doing some
activities that, although not work-related, may carry some type of obligation, such as going
to the doctor, go to the supermarket, among others, and that they do during the so-called free time because not

In the adult individual, leisure is conceived as relaxation, escape, and release of
Social obligations are a safety valve for routine tensions.
The elderly man, once retired, has more time for leisure, although he
does not always value that time positively.
Currently, leisure and recreation serve as a reference for well-being and quality of life.
The individual increasingly seeks to increase their leisure time, thus trying to maintain balance.

The Occupational Therapist, in the Anglo-Saxon and Latin American tradition of the profession, participates
in the design and development of community programs with the aim of providing specificity of the

On another note, it is important to highlight that leisure time or free time, as it is often called

the carrying out of activities that involve solely enjoying, relaxing, of everything that

Occupation is the main activity of human beings that consists of serious objectives and
productive and playful creative and festive behaviors. It is the result of processes of
evolution that culminates in a biological, psychological, and social need for activity
playful as for the productive.
Occupation
In this context, it is also worth noting other types of occupations, occupations or jobs.
parallels that are of a family type, for example those that are generated based on a business that happens
from parents to children through generations, or in which several members of the family nucleus are
lawyers, teachers, artists, etc. In addition, there are occupations related to the environment
specific where there is a tradition or a geographical influence that characterizes that group:
miners, fishermen, artisans. In all these people, society expects to find characteristics
that are unique and specific in relation to their personality, their physique, their culture.
Finally, when talking about occupation, it is pertinent to remember the phrase by C. Batenson 'the possibility of
doing something useful for oneself or for others is key to personality
Recreation can occur in the midst of situations and environments with particular norms and rules.
However, empirical evidence indicates that the notion of 'freedom' and its current exercise is the
central dimension among the multiple meanings that people value in association with the
phenomenon (Kelly, 1987). In leisure experiences, in action, people exercise
their freedom (Osorio, 2001; Cuenca, 1998; Molina, 1998; Kelly, 1987). In the midst of the action and the
derivation of valued meanings, its 'being' transcends, grows, expands, extends or spreads. From

of joyful experiences that involve a 'spreading of the being'
Leisure is distraction, it is to distance oneself for a time from a physical or mental activity that in
sometimes, but not necessarily, creates tension or concern. So it becomes the activity

What do you fill your free time with?
Both rest and recreation are necessary in life, especially if the life that
it is very hectic or is full of many activities.
We could say free time is the period in which activities that are not related to
work. These activities aim to eliminate or reduce stress and keep the mind occupied.
Think about other things that are not obligations, in order to become aware of oneself.
This free time is the most conducive to developing creativity, attitudes, and skills.

Leisure activities are important because they give positive energy to a person, refresh them.

In addition, it has also been shown that participating in adventure activities has an effect
positive in a person's life. Adventure motivates, increases confidence, and improves the
self-esteem, fundamental for feeling good about ourselves.
Besides being a way to spend free time, recreational activities also serve to
socializing. They are a way to be with loved ones and enjoy, in addition to giving us the
opportunity to meet new people, create new friendships, and learn new things. Leisure
It also brings us closer to nature, which relaxes the body and mind.
When we use our free time creatively, developing skills, fostering the
personal balance and enriching our experience, we are filling our life with content

for personal growth.
These are just a few examples, although once in a while doing absolutely nothing is also very
well and it is necessary to 'reset' the mind. We can surround ourselves with nature, listen to music,
to walk or simply look at the ceiling and let thoughts flow, feeling how the world

Conclusion
The occupation, spacing, and leisure time of the human being, to be considered as such, to have a
"purpose" which is the engine of the process in which there is a sort of anticipation of the outcome of what
what we are going to carry out, and a 'meaning' in which numerous factors intervene that range from the
affective scope up to the social, and in which a processing that is personal develops,
complex and unconscious. The meaning of doing over time shapes our "identity". In
the course of life this identity can be modified, reaffirmed, take coherence and
meaning. All these factors give us a positive or negative image of our ability and
social acceptance. In summary, occupations, leisure, and free time are powerful
agents that help us organize our lives, provide meaning, and create identity.
