🛠️ STEP-BY-STEP BUILD PLAN

Step 1: Cut All Lumber

Cut all parts as per the table above. Use a 10° angle cut at the bottom of each backrest slat
for a natural recline. Sand all edges smooth.

Step 2: Build the Seat Frame

1. Lay out the side stretchers (24") and connect them using the front apron (23").
2. Attach front legs (21") vertically at the front corners, flush to the front apron.
3. Pre-drill and glue joints. Use 2” screws to fasten through the apron into the legs.
4. Position the back legs (31") at a 15° backward angle for recline. Secure through the
stretchers with screws and glue.

Step 3: Add Seat Slats

1. Evenly space 5 slats (1.5 x 3 x 23) across the seat frame.
2. Use 1/4" gap between slats.
3. Attach each slat using 1 1/4" outdoor screws at both ends, pre-drilled.

Step 4: Assemble the Backrest

1. Lay the 5 backrest slats flat with 1/4" spacing.
2. Attach the bottom back support rail (23") approx. 10" from the bottom.
3. Attach the top back support (20") 4–5" from the top.
4. Ensure alignment and screw through each slat into the rails.
5. Screw the assembled backrest into the rear stretchers at a 15° recline.

Step 5: Install Armrests

1. Set each armrest (27 3/4") flush at the front leg and extending slightly over the back leg.
2. Use 2 screws into each leg from the top, and wood glue underneath.
3. Add the armrest supports (9") vertically under the rear overhang. Secure with screws
upward into the armrest and downward into the side stretcher.
Step 6: Final Sanding & Finish
Sand all surfaces with 120 grit, then finish with 220 grit for smoothness.
Apply exterior-grade wood sealer, teak oil, or outdoor polyurethane for weather
protection.

📏 FINAL DIMENSIONS (Verified)

✅ PROFESSIONAL TIPS
Use pocket holes on stretchers for a clean look.
Round over sharp corners with a router or sandpaper.
Test fit all parts before final assembly.
Use clamps when gluing to ensure flush joints.
✅ Build Summary:
1. Material Prep:
Use hardwood (teak, cedar, etc.)
All wood is 1.5" thick (2x lumber)
Carefully cut each piece to dimension (back legs angled, seat slats equal, etc.)
2. Frame Construction:
Build the base frame with front/back legs and stretchers
Ensure accurate 15° angle on the back legs for proper recline
3. Seat & Back:
Install evenly spaced seat slats (1/4" gaps)
Assemble and attach the slanted backrest slats to the frame
4. Finish Touches:
Install armrests with vertical support
Sand thoroughly and apply exterior-grade finish
