Sport and games in students’ life

Task 1
Answer the questions

1. What do you think is more enjoyable: to attend a live sporting event or watch the same
event on television?
In my opinion, it is more reasonable to watch sporting events on television, because you can
organise a viewing with friends or family, with food, drinks, etc.

2. Why do you think some people are attracted to dangerous sports or other extreme
activities?
As for me, they lack adrenaline and excitement.

I would like to meet Oleksandr Usyk because he is known as the best Ukrainian boxer.

4. Do you think that physical exercise should be a required part of every school day?
Yes, I believe that physical exercise should always be part of school, because even the most
basic morning exercises before lessons help you wake up, and physical education after
sedentary lessons allows you to stretch your body properly.

5. How much time should students spend on physical exercise?

As for me, at least 30 minutes a day, minimum.

deserve such high salaries?
They deserve it because, through sport, they bring glory to their country by setting incredible
records in various sporting competitions.

Sport is popular because it is good for your health, but only if you do it within healthy limits
and don't exhaust yourself.

Sport is an important part of education. It teaches us discipline, endurance, responsibility,
self-improvement and goal achievement, as well as building willpower and character.

9. What famous sports people do you know? What are they famous for?
Oleksandr Usyk is an undefeated Ukrainian professional boxer. He is the undisputed world
champion in the cruiserweight division and a two-time world champion in the heavyweight
division. The Klychko brothers are boxers, both of whom are world champions in the
heavyweight division. Yaroslava Mahuchikh – high jumper, 2024 Olympic champion and
2020 Olympic bronze medallist; Vasyl Virastyuk – Honoured Master of Sports of Ukraine
and holder of the titles ‘Strongest Man in Ukraine’ and ‘Strongest Man in the World’.
10. Some suggest that people who are good at sport are not intelligent. What do you think
about this stereotype?
As far as I'm concerned, we are all human beings and not everyone can be intelligent.
