1. Describe an intelligent person you know

Reflect – Why this person stands out to me
One intelligent person I know is Thinh, a former classmate from university. I wouldn’t say
he always got top marks or showed off his knowledge, but he had this clever way of
thinking that really impressed me. Over time, as we worked on different group
assignments, I came to admire how thoughtful he was in both studying and dealing with
people.
Articulate – What I noticed and learned from him

11
Thinh had a sporty look with tanned skin and glasses, but what stood out wasn’t how he
looked. It was how he approached studying. While most of us were sleepy in uni lectures
and procrastinate their studies until late at night, Thinh focused during class. He once said
that it was better to understand things early on, so we wouldn’t waste time reviewing when
we’re already tired. I thought that made a lot of sense.
Besides that, Thinh was respectful and easy to work with. He was always polite, came on
time, and stayed calm even when others were stressed. Because of that, people liked
working with him, especially the high-achieving students. I think those habits helped him
get more opportunities, like internships and scholarships, while we were still trying to
figure things out.
Navigate – What this means to me now
Looking back, I think I admired the way he combined smart thinking with good behavior. It
made me realize that being intelligent isn’t just about doing well in class, it’s also about
how you manage time and treat people around you. I’ve tried to apply some of those habits
in my own life, and they’ve really helped me stay more focused and organized.

Reflect – Why this person stands out to me
One person I really enjoyed working with during university was Thinh, a classmate of mine.
He wasn’t just smart. He had this calm, focused attitude that made group work feel
smoother. While some people were hard to team up with because of attitude or

12
inconsistency, Thinh was someone I could always count on. That’s probably why he stood
out to me the most.
Articulate – What I noticed and learned from him
Thinh had a sporty, slightly tanned look and wore glasses, which kind of added to his
thoughtful vibe. But what really made him different was how he approached both studying
and teamwork. For example, while most of us struggled with long lectures, Thinh focused
completely in class so he didn’t have to waste time cramming later. That helped him
manage his time better and stay ahead without stress.
What impressed me even more was how he treated people. He was always respectful. He
never complained, never arrived late, and always kept things professional. During stressful
group projects, he stayed calm and helped keep everyone on track. That attitude really
lifted the whole team. Thanks to that, he ended up building connections with many top-
performing students and got access to some opportunities like internships and
scholarships.

Working with Thinh didn’t just help me get things done, it changed the way I saw group
work. I realized that being a good teammate isn’t just about skills, but also about attitude

3. Describe a person who is very good at a foreign language

Reflect – Why this person stands out to me
When it comes to people who are really good at English, one name comes to mind right
away. He is Thinh, a classmate of mine from university. We were in the same faculty, and
even though many of us struggled with using English in real life, Thinh always stood out for
how natural and confident he sounded. That left a strong impression on me.
Articulate – What I noticed and learned from him
Thinh wasn’t just good at grammar or passing tests, his English was fluent, and the way he
used it in daily life was what really impressed me. For example, he could browse foreign
websites, watch movies without subtitles, and even join online forums using English, all
without hesitation.
One time I asked how he got to that level, and he said something that stuck with me: you
have to enjoy the content first, then the language follows naturally. In his case, he was
really into movies, so he spent hours watching them in English, not because he had to, but
because he genuinely liked it. I thought that made a lot of sense, so I started doing the
same thing, and after a while, I saw clear improvement in my own English.
Navigate – What this means to me now
Knowing Thinh changed the way I saw language learning. He made me realize that English
isn’t just a subject. it’s a tool to enjoy the world and express who you are. I wouldn't say I’ve
reached his level, but thanks to his approach, I feel more comfortable and motivated to
keep learning.

4. Describe a famous person you like to meet in person

Reflect – Why this person stands out to me
If I could meet a famous person in real life, it would be Keanu Reeves. I’ve always found
him quite different from other celebrities. He is quiet, thoughtful, and kind in a very real
way. I first came across him in The Matrix when I was a kid, and he’s stuck in my mind ever
since.

Articulate – What I know and admire about him

The Matrix wasn’t just a fun movie, it was mind-blowing, especially with the slow-motion
scenes and deep storyline about artificial intelligence and human survival. Keanu played
Neo, the main character, and to me, no one else could’ve done it better. He was calm,
focused, and willing to sacrifice himself for others. That is a rare mix in action movies.
What’s more impressive is that his real life seems to match his roles. He doesn’t try to act
like a typical Hollywood star. He wears simple clothes, takes the subway, and avoids
showing off. I’ve also seen stories about him helping crew members, donating money
quietly, and treating people with respect. One time, he even gave up part of his salary so
others on the set could be paid more.

Navigate – What this means to me now

I think I’d like to meet him just to understand how someone can stay grounded and kind in
such a glamorous world. Most famous people seem distant or fake, but Keanu feels
genuine. Maybe I wouldn’t ask anything too deep — I’d just want to hear how he sees life
and how he stays true to himself. Meeting someone like that, even once, would definitely
leave a lasting impact on me.
