The grant of Transport Allowance under these orders shall be regulated according to, and will be subject to the following conditions :- (a) _ All Armed Forces Personnel borne on regular establishment who are blind or cthopaedically handicapped with disability of lower extremities, will be entitled to Transport Allowance at double the normal rates, which shall, in no case, be less than Rs. 1000/- per month plus the applicable rate of Dearness Allowance. The other conditions of this Ministry's letter No. 12198/Q Mov C/3337/D (Mov) dated 30 Aug 1979, related to grant of conveyance allowance to blind and othopaedically handicapped service personnel as amended vide letter No. 12198/Q Mov C/697/D (Mov) dated 26 Feb 1980, shall remain unchanged. (b) The allowance shall not be admissible to those employees who have been provided with the facility of Goverment transport for commuting 1H between place of residence and place of duty. eo(©) The condition contained in para 2 (b) of this Ministry letter No. 12630/TPT.A/Q Mov C/208/D (Mov)/98 dated 20" Feb 98 by which the grant of Transport Allowance to Service Personnel provided with accommodation within a distance of one Kilometer from the place of duty or within a campus housing the places of work and residence was disallowed, has been withdrawn. (4) _ In respect of those Service Pers who opt to retain their pre-revised scales of pay, the corresponding Grade Pay of the pay scale/corresponding pay scale of post occupied on 01-01-2006 would determine the allowance under these orders. 3. Service Offrs drawing Grade Pay of Rs. 10,000/- and Rs.12,000/- who are entitled to use the facility of staff car for commuting between office and residence as per existing orders, shall have the option either to avail themselves of the existing facility or to switch over to the payment of Transport Allowance at the rate of Rs. 7000/- pm plus Dearness Allowance thereon. In case they opt for the latter, they shall be paid the Transport Allowance, subject to the condition that the existing facility of staff car shall be withdrawn between residence and office from the date they opt for the allowance. In case they opt for the former, the allowance shall not be admissible to them and they would not be required to make any payment for the facility of the staff car between residence & office. 4. This orders shall take effect from 01 Sep 08. 5. This letter issues with the concurrence of Ministry of Defence (Fin/QA) vide their UO No 1302/QA/08 dated 15 Dec 2008.
