“If you can keep your head when all about you

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,

Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;

If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;

If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools

If you can make one heap of all your winnings

And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew

To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,

Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;

If you can fill the unforgiving minute

With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!”

become. Everything else is secondary.”

“Man is condemned to be free; because once thrown into the world, he is responsible
for everything he does.
It is up to you to give [life] a meaning.”
― Jean-Paul Sartre

Jean-Paul Sartre
1. Dare to Act. Man is nothing else but what he makes
of himself. The power of subjectivity - We exist first and we
become who we are later on. Thus you become who you
are only when you act.
There is no fixed human nature, meaning or purpose.
Most of us live reactively only responding to what
happens to us.
Take initiative.

2. Face your freedom. Freedom is what you do with

what’s been done to you.
Living in bad faith: Not doing anything or denying that
you have any options or freedom.
We behave how we think we should instead of how we
want to.
I have no choice is a false statement.
React authentically to the situations you find yourself in
and analyze your actions and reactions say about you as a
person. Only then are you able to act freely.

3. Take responsibility
Your actions express who you are, your values.
We are always free to act and react in any way we want
to.
There is no God to tell you what to do, and there are
always options.
One side effect of total freedom is total responsibility.
Our actions do not always represent our values.
Every single action is one you are responsible for;
denying this responsibility in any case does not actually
absolve you from your responsibility.
Be true to yourself, make sure to always act in a way
that expresses your values and take responsibility for each
value you express through your actions.
Because you could have always done otherwise.

4. Set an example.
You are responsible for exerting an image of how you
wish manking to be by being the prime example yourself.
When you choose to act in a certain way, you also set
an example for others.
Dare to act and do so in a way you would like others to
do as well.
You have to force yourself to do all the things you wish
others would do as well.
Whatever you think is right for you, you must also think
it is right for all mankind.
Act in a way that you think everybody should or at least
would be better off in doing so is the key to lead a more
productive and honest life.

5. Embrace your fears

Mike Tyson's famous quote is "Everyone has a plan until
they get punched in the mouth"

If you want to make God laugh, tell him about your

plans

“Listen to the people who love you. Believe that they are worth living for even when
you don't believe it. Seek out the memories depression takes away and project them into
the future. Be brave; be strong; take your pills. Exercise because it's good for you even if
every step weighs a thousand pounds. Eat when food itself disgusts you. Reason with
yourself when you have lost your reason.”
― Andrew Solomon, The Noonday Demon: An Atlas of Depression

“Don't be afraid of enemies who attack you. Be afraid of the friends who flatter you.”
― Dale Carnegie, How to Win Friends & Influence People

“Even though you may want to move forward in your life, you may have one foot on
the brakes. In order to be free, we must learn how to let go. Release the hurt. Release the

you back from a new life. What is it you would let go of today?”
― Mary Manin Morrissey

go together”; however what they don’t say is that most of
the times people go together and they don’t go far, they
only go slow.
