Complete Catholic Prayer Book (50 Prayers &

Devotions)

■ Morning Prayers

Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Morning Offering
O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer You my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of
this day for all the intentions of Your Sacred Heart, in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass
throughout the world, in reparation for my sins, for the intentions of all our associates, and in particular
for the intentions of the Holy Father. Amen.

Our Father
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those
who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of
thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Glory Be
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and
ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Guardian Angel Prayer

Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God’s love commits me here, ever this day be at my side, to
light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen.

Act of Faith
O my God, I firmly believe that You are one God in three divine Persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I
believe that Your divine Son became man and died for our sins, and that He will come to judge the
living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which the Holy Catholic Church teaches, because
You have revealed them, who can neither deceive nor be deceived. Amen.
■■ Noon / Afternoon Prayers

Angelus
The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary, And she conceived of the Holy Spirit. Hail Mary… Behold
the handmaid of the Lord, Be it done unto me according to Thy word. Hail Mary… And the Word was
made flesh, And dwelt among us. Hail Mary… Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God, That we may be
made worthy of the promises of Christ. Let us pray: Pour forth, we beseech Thee, O Lord, Thy grace
into our hearts, that we, to whom the Incarnation of Christ Thy Son was made known by the message of
an angel, may by His Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of His Resurrection, through the same
Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Grace Before Meals

Bless us, O Lord, and these Thy gifts, which we are about to receive from Thy bounty, through Christ
our Lord. Amen.

Grace After Meals

We give Thee thanks, Almighty God, for all Thy benefits, who livest and reignest world without end.
Amen.

Afternoon Prayer
Lord, help me to remember that this day is not over yet. Guide me to finish with faith, hope, and love.
Amen.

Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of
the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the
power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of
souls. Amen.

■ Evening Prayers

Hail, Holy Queen

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor
banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of
tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this, our exile, show
unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. Pray for us, O
holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen.

Memorare
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy
protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence,
I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and
sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer
me. Amen.

Salutation to Mary
Hail Mary, Daughter of God the Father. Hail Mary, Mother of the Son of God. Hail Mary, Spouse of the
Holy Spirit. Hail Mary, Temple of the Blessed Trinity. Hail Mary, white lily of the resplendent and ever
unchanging Trinity. Hail Mary, Mother of life and of mercy. Amen.

Hail Joseph
Hail Joseph, Son of David, just man, spouse of the Virgin Mary, blessed are you among men and
blessed is Jesus, the fruit of your faithful wife. Holy Joseph, guardian of the Redeemer, pray for us and
obtain for us divine wisdom. Amen.

Rosary
The Rosary is prayed by meditating on the Mysteries: Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious, and Luminous. It
consists of: Apostles’ Creed, Our Father, Hail Mary (x10), Glory Be, Fatima Prayer (O my Jesus…),
Hail Holy Queen. Traditionally prayed in the evening.

■ Night Prayers

Act of Contrition
O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins because I dread the
loss of heaven and the pains of hell, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, who art all
good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to confess my sins, to do
penance, and to amend my life. Amen.

Eternal Rest
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace.
Amen.

Pope Benedict XVI’s Prayer at Night

Stay with us, Lord, for it is evening, and the day is almost over. Stay with us and with all people. Stay
with us in the evening of the day, in the evening of life, in the evening of the world. Stay with us with
Your grace and goodness, with Your holy Word and Sacrament, with Your comfort and blessing. Stay
with us when night comes and the night of trials and fears, the night of doubts and temptations. Stay
with us in life and in death, in time and eternity. Amen.

✝■ Special Devotions
Act of Hope
O my God, relying on Your almighty power and infinite mercy and promises, I hope to obtain pardon of
my sins, the help of Your grace, and life everlasting, through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and
Redeemer. Amen.

Act of Charity
O my God, I love You above all things with my whole heart and soul, because You are all-good and
worthy of all my love. I love my neighbor as myself for love of You. I forgive all who have injured me,
and I ask pardon of all whom I have injured. Amen.

Prayer for the Year of Faith

O God of our fathers, who by sending into the world the Word of truth and the Spirit of sanctification
made known to the human race Your wondrous mystery, grant us, we pray, that in professing the true
faith, we may acknowledge the Trinity of eternal glory and adore Your Unity, powerful in majesty.
Amen.

Prayer of the Steps of the Passion

I adore You, O Christ, and I bless You, because by Your holy Cross You have redeemed the world.
(Repeated at each Station of the Cross.)

St. Benedict Medal Prayer

May the holy cross be my light! May the dragon never be my guide! Begone Satan! Never tempt me
with your vanities! What you offer me is evil. Drink the poison yourself! Amen.

Come, Holy Spirit

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful and kindle in them the fire of Your love. Send forth Your
Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth. Amen.

Crown of Twelve Stars

We venerate your crown of twelve stars, O Blessed Virgin, symbol of your queenship in heaven. May
we strive to imitate your virtues and honor you with our prayers. Amen.
