Chapter 2
OBJECTIVE
2.1 Title of the activity
Water conservation is the practice of using water efficiently to reduce unnecessary usage and preserve this
precious natural resource for future generations. As water scarcity becomes a growing global concern due to
population growth, climate change, and pollution, conserving water has become more important than ever.
Simple habits like fixing leaking taps, using buckets instead of hoses, harvesting rainwater, and reusing
wastewater can make a significant difference.
In India, where many regions face seasonal droughts and irregular rainfall, spreading awareness about water
conservation is crucial. Efforts at the individual, community, and government levels are necessary to ensure
sustainable water management. Conserving water not only helps the environment but also reduces energy
consumption and supports agricultural and economic stability.
2.2 Objectives of Activity
   1. To raise awareness among community members and students about the importance of water
conservation and the current water crisis.
   2. To promote sustainable water use practices through workshops, campaigns, and educational
       sessions.
   3. To implement practical water-saving measures such as rainwater harvesting, waste water
recycling, and leak detection in the community or institution.
   4. To involve NSS volunteers in real-time activities like cleaning water bodies, fixing leaking taps,
and conducting surveys on water usage.
   5. To encourage behavioral change towards water conservation through consistent engagement,
       posters, rallies, and competitions.
   6. To collaborate with local authorities and environmental groups to amplify the impact of the
       initiative.
