Dowary demand kills woman.
A joint team of Rajasthan and Gujarat police force on Tuesday arresed
the husband of the woman who had ended her life by jumping into the Sabarmati
river in Ahmedabad over alleged doway harassment. He was arrested from Pali,
Rajasthan, where he had gone to attend a wedding. After shooting a three-minute
video-reportedly on her husband’s demand-Aisha Makrani, 23, a resident of
Ahmedabad’s industrial area Vatva, jumped into the river. She was rescued and
taken to a hospital on February 24, but she succumbed.
In an FIR, her father Liyakat Ali said Aisha had got married to Arif Khan
Gafurji, a youth from Rajasthan’s Jhalor in July 2018. Unfortunately the marriage
never brought a happy moment for the girl with stars in her eyes. Arif’s family
allegedly started demanding dowry soon after the wedding that forced her to
return to Ahmedabad.
After getting Rs. 1.5 lakh, Aisha was taken back by Arif, but again, abandoned
