Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was a brave and wise king who founded
the Maratha Empire in the 17th century. He was born on 19th
February 1630 at Shivneri Fort to Shahaji and Jijabai. From a young
age, he showed great courage and leadership. He captured forts like
Torna and used smart guerrilla tactics to fight powerful enemies like
the Mughals and the Adil Shahi rulers. In 1674, he was crowned king
at Raigad Fort. Shivaji ruled with fairness, protected women,
respected all religions, and worked for the welfare of his people. He
passed away in 1680, but is still remembered as a symbol of pride,
courage, and freedom in India.
Prithviraj Chauhan (Prithviraja III, 1166–1192 CE), often known as
Rai Pithora, was a legendary 12th-century Hindu king of the Chauhan
dynasty who ruled from Ajmer (and Delhi) over parts of present-day
Rajasthan, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Delhi. He ascended the
throne as a minor in 1177 CE and during his reign unified several
Rajput clans, mounting successful campaigns against neighboring
powers like the Chandelas. He famously defeated Muhammad of
Ghor at the First Battle of Tarain in 1191, but was tragically defeated,
captured, and executed following the Second Battle of Tarain in 1192
—a pivotal moment that ushered in the Islamic conquest of northern
India
