GENERAL RULES FOR THE SYMPOSIUM

Theme : Think Green... Live Clean...


Eligibility:
 The symposium is open to students from recognized colleges/universities.
 Participants must carry a valid college ID card and Bonafide Certificate of the College or
Department.
Registration:
 All participants must register before the 22.08.2025 through the official registration link.
 Event slots are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Participation:
 A participant may take part in multiple events, provided the schedules do not overlap.
 Team events must have the required number of members as specified in the event guidelines.
Punctuality:
 Participants must report to the event venue at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time.
 Latecomers may be disqualified at the discretion of the event in-charge.
Rules & Fair Play:
 All events will follow the specific rules mentioned in the respective event descriptions.
 Use of unfair means, plagiarism, or inappropriate behavior will result in disqualification.
Dress Code & Decorum:
 Participants must maintain decent dress and professional behavior throughout the event.
 Any offensive, obscene, or disrespectful act will lead to immediate removal from the
competition.
Decision of Judges:
 The decision of judges and event organizers will be final and binding. No disputes will be
entertained.
Property & Venue Discipline
 Damaging college property, littering, or misusing facilities will result in penalties.
 Participants must leave the venue clean after use.
Use of Electronics & Props:
 If events require the use of laptops, projectors, music tracks, or props, participants must arrange
them in advance unless specified otherwise.
 Event in-charges must be informed about special requirements beforehand.
Awards & Certificates:
 Prizes and certificates will be awarded to winners and participants as per event criteria.
 Certificates will only be issued to those who register and participate fully in the event.
Right to Modify:
 The organizing committee reserves the right to change event schedules, rules, or venues if
necessary.
Event Descriptions & Rules

1. Stand-Up Comedy
Description: A solo performance event where participants showcase humor through
storytelling, observations, or personal anecdotes to entertain the audience.
Rules:
Solo performance only.
Duration: 3–5 minutes.
Content must be original and free from offensive, obscene, political, caste, or religion-based
remarks.
Allowed languages: English or Tamil language.
No props requiring electrical setup.

2. Mime
Description: A silent theatrical performance using body movements, facial expressions, and
gestures to convey a story or theme.
Rules:
Team size: 4–8 members.
Duration: 5–7 minutes.
No dialogues or lip-syncing; music or background tracks allowed.
Themes must be pre-approved by organizers.
No harmful props or fire.
Costumes and makeup must suit the theme.

3. Singing (Solo/Group)
Description: Participants perform a song of their choice in solo or group format.
Rules:
Solo: 1 participant; Group: 3–8 members.
Duration: 3–5 minutes.
Any language permitted.
Karaoke tracks or live instruments allowed (participants must arrange).
Vulgar or offensive lyrics are prohibited.

4. Group Dance
Description: A choreographed dance performance by a team showcasing creativity,
synchronization, and energy.
Rules:
Team size: 4–10 members.
Duration: 4–6 minutes.
Any dance style allowed.
Props allowed but must be safe.
Pre-mixed tracks to be submitted in advance.
No obscene gestures or costumes.

5. Just a Minute
Description: Participants speak on a given topic for exactly one minute without hesitation,
repetition, or deviation.
Rules:
Individual participation.
Topics given on the spot.
No offensive language.
Judges evaluate fluency, relevance, and humor.
6. Mehandhi
Description: Participants create traditional or modern henna designs on the hands of a
model.
Rules:
Individual participation.
Time limit: 1 hour.
Participants must bring their own henna cones.
Only one hand (front and back) will be judged.
Pre-made stencils are not allowed.

7. Rangoli
Description: An art form of making colorful patterns on the floor using colored powders,
flowers, or other materials.
Rules:
Team size: 1–2 members.
Time limit: 1 hour.
Space allotted: 3x3 feet (or as decided).
Only dry rangoli colors or flowers allowed.
Theme will be given on the spot or announced beforehand.

8. Poster Presentation
Description: An academic or creative visual display on theme, explained to judges.
Rules:
Team size: Max 2 members.
Size: A1 or A2 sheet.
Time: 5 minutes for explanation.
Posters must be hand-made or printed; plagiarism prohibited.

9. Paper Presentation
Description: Participants present original research, innovation, technical topics on
Symposium theme before a panel.
Rules:
Team size: Max 2 members.
Duration: 7 minutes presentation + 3 minutes Q&A.
PPT format, bring on USB.
Plagiarism above 30% will lead to disqualification.

10. Face Painting


Description: Participants paint artistic designs on a model’s face based on a theme.
Rules:
Team of 2 (artist + model).
Time limit: 1 hour.
Materials to be brought by participants.
Only face-safe paints allowed.
No stencils; freehand only.

11. Short Film


Description: A filmmaking contest for short, original video productions on theme.
Rules:
Team size: up to 5 members.
Duration: 3–7 minutes.
Content must be original and free from vulgarity, political, or religious bias.
MP4 format submission before the 22.08.2025.
Basic editing allowed.
12. Photography
Description: A contest to capture creative, theme-based photographs during the symposium.
Rules:
Individual participation.
Only photos clicked during the event days are eligible.
No stock images or prior work.
Basic editing allowed; no excessive manipulation.
Submit entries in JPEG format before the deadline.

13. Bridal Makeup, Nail Art, Hairdo, Saree Draping & Fashion Walk
Description: A combined beauty & styling competition testing creativity in bridal makeover,
nail art, hair styling, saree draping, and a short fashion walk.
Rules:
Team size: 2 (artist + model).
Time: Bridal makeup (60 min), Nail art (30 min), Hairdo (30 min), Saree draping (20 min).
Participants must bring all tools and cosmetics.
Models should come makeup-free.
Hygiene and neatness are mandatory.
Vulgar outfits or gestures prohibited.

14. Quiz
Description: A knowledge-based competition with multiple rounds on general, current, and
theme-based topics.
Rules:
Team size: 2 members.
Written prelims followed by oral finals.
No electronic devices allowed.
Quizmaster’s decision is final.

15. Best Out of Waste


Description: An eco-friendly creativity contest to create art or utility items using waste
materials.
Rules:
Team size: 1–2 members.
Time limit: 1 hour.
Participants bring their own materials.
Only waste/recyclable items to be used.
Tools like scissors, glue, etc., allowed.

16. Cook without Fire


Description: A culinary competition to prepare dishes without using fire or heating
appliances.
Rules:
Team size: Max 2 members.
Time limit: 1 hour.
All ingredients to be brought by participants.
No pre-cut items allowed; preparation on-site only.
Judged on taste, creativity, presentation, and hygiene.
