Comprehension passage
My Aunt Sophie
My Aunt Sophie can be a bit silly. She likes to wear funny clothes. She always
makes me laugh.
Sometimes I say to Aunt Sophie, “You look silly Aunt Sophie.” She just laughs
and says, “I look sen-sa-tion-al!” in her funniest voice.
Aunt Sophie is so much fun to be around. She makes everyone smile when
they see her coming.
She says that her favourite colour is rainbow and her favourite things are
fresh flowers and bright moonlight.
When I grow up I want to be just like Aunt Sophie.

Jen’s Best Day
Jen looked out the window. She saw big white clouds, spiky green grass,
bright blue sky and the yellow shining sun. Today was going to be the best
day ever. Today she was getting some pet goats!
There were two goats coming to live with Jen and her family today. June
and Dolly were two miniature goats that were looking for a new home. Jen
couldn’t wait to see them.
She had been working hard with her Dad all week to build a pen to keep them
safe and dry. She hoped they liked their new home. She had even painted
their names on the door.
Jen sat at the window and waited for her new friends to arrive.

Comprehension Passage
The windiest day of the year
The wind blew and blew and blew. The trees were bending and twisting.
Samara thought the roof might blow off her house. She looked out the window
then hid under the covers of her bed.
Even under the covers, she could still hear the whoosh of the wind as it blew
past her window. She peeked out again. It was still blowing wild.
Her Mum called out, “Come to the kitchen Samara, I have made you a hot
chocolate.”
Samara pulled back the covers. She loved hot chocolate, especially on windy
and scary days. She jumped up and ran into the kitchen. There were even
marshmallows, YUM
