HOW TO ACTIVATE IMPARTATIONS

A very common conversation in the prophetic ministry is a conversation on impartation. It is very

difficult to find someone in the prophetic ministry that has not received a form of impartation; or that
has not imparted someone in a way. Impartation of the anointing or as some call it, impartation of grace
is a part of the prophetic ministry and we can see it in expression all through scriptures. Moses imparted
Joshua, Isaac imparted Jacob with the blessings of Abraham, Elisha received a transference of ministry
mantle from Elijah, Jesus breath upon the disciples (John 20:22), Paul imparted Timothy for the work of
the ministry. In summary, the concept of impartation of anointing is both scriptural and relevant till
date.

What is an impartation of anointing?

It is the transference of anointing from the anointed to a recipient, either by the physical laying on of
hands, by a release of prophetic words or by prophetic encounters. I need to explain these three
possibilities further.

Impartation by the laying on of hands

We saw Moses laid hands upon Joshua for an impartation of the anointing to carry on the ministry over
the Israelites into their promised land (Numbers 27:18-23). When hands are laid upon individuals by the
anointed with a specific intention of a transference of anointing, there can truly be a transference of
anointing from the carrier of such anointings to the person hands is laid upon as long as the person to
receive the impartation is willing to receive it from the anointed because impartation cannot be forced
since it is to be imparted upon the spirit of the one been prayed for. No one can force anything on your
spirit so impartation must be willingly received for it to flow.

On a general note, anointings can only be received voluntarily. The woman with the issue of blood was
not the only person that touched Jesus that day but no virtue flowed to others because they were not
expecting any flow of the anointing, for all they cared for, Jesus was a public figure and they were
touching so they could brag later that they had touched Jesus (Mark 5:25-31). The possibility of receiving
an impartation of the anointing when not willingly expecting it, is very slim. Like I always jokingly say,
even the most anointed men of God have barbers that barb their hairs and these barbers lay hands on
the heads of the anointed but does that mean the barbers have been imparted? Except maybe the
barber was after an impartation from them, if not, touching the head of the anointed will not make any
anointing flow to those barbers.

Impartation by a release of prophetic words

Impartation can also take place by the release of prophetic words by the anointed upon the ones
desiring impartation. We get to see from the story of the centurion and Jesus Christ, that words spoken
can also carry the power of God in operation (Matthew 8:8). In John 20:22, we see Jesus appearing to
His disciples after His ascension and He imparted them and breathe upon them and saith unto them,
receive ye the Holy Ghost. So, there is a possibility in the prophetic that a man can release an
impartation of the anointing through words spoken over you. A prophetic blessing is also a form of
impartation and it can be released through prophetic words spoken over the receiver of such
impartations.

Impartation by prophetic encounters

Impartation by prophetic encounters is the kind of impartations that takes place when the one been
imparted may not have a direct one on one encounter with the anointed, but maybe through a dream or
a vision, the Spirit of God can midwife an impartation process from the anointings on the anointed upon
the receiver. There are several possibilities in this kind of impartations, five as a matter of fact and these
are the possibilities that can bring about this kind of impartation;

Possibility One: The Holy Spirit on His own takes from the anointing upon the anointed to another
because the receiver is in God’s divine ordination for the extension of the character of the ministry of
the anointed. So, it is not the nature if God to release a new anointing upon the earth for a specific
ministry assignment when it is already on the earth in an anointed. So, instead of sending a fresh
impartation upon the seventy elders, He took from the anointing upon Moses and imparted them
(Numbers 11:25).

So for example, a patriarch in faith received an anointing to preach the word of faith with special
apostolic signs and wonders and God by His own determinate will, decides that you become the
extension of that mandate for the next generation even if you are not in the same ministry with that
patriarch, the Holy Spirit can midwife an impartation of anointing upon you through a vision encounter
even without the anointed been acquainted to you at that very moment in person and you receive that
impartation for the next generation. For example, Elijah did handover his mantle to Elisha yet it fell,
because it is the nature of God’s Spirit to midwife a generational transference of ministry mantles (2
Kings 2:13).

Possibility two: The receiver has a high regard for the anointed and sincerely covets the anointing upon
the anointed and begins to press in the spirit for it. If that desire aligns with the intent and purpose of
God’s Spirit for that season, generation or that individual, the Holy Spirit can midwife an impartation
through encounters upon that individual and create an extension of that dimension into a new territory
through the receiver of such impartation. This can also happen even if the receiver have never physically
met the anointed.

Possibility Three: When the anointed dies and the mantle upon the ministry of the anointed never
found a receiver while the anointed was on the earth because though there were people around the
anointed but no one was able to receive the impartation of the anointed because of lack of a sincere
heart connections or because of unwillingness to follow the consecrations of such anointings and as a
result, the anointed in no longer on the earth but the dimension of ministry that he represents has not
found an extension on the earth, the Holy Spirit can search for anyone that has the consecration needed
for that mantle and even through the anointed is no longer on the earth, the Holy Spirit can midwife an
impartation of that anointing through encounters and by so doing, bring about an extension of that
dimension of ministry on the earth through the receiver of such mantle.

Possibility Four: There is also a possibility that the anointed and the receiver have a physical relationship
and the receiver deeply craves for the anointing upon the anointed. It could be a spiritual father and son
relationship or just a ministry relationship and because of the hunger of the receiver and the honour for
the anointed, the Holy Spirit can midwife an impartation of that anointing upon the receiver through an
encounter so as to extend the operation of that dimension of God through the receiver. So, a spiritual
son or mentee in ministry can actually receive impartation from their superior through an encounter.

Possibility Five: There is a possibility that a man can be so much aligned with the Holy Spirit that He
actually bring a variant of an existing dimension of anointing upon the receiver through an impartation.
He may do this through the form of the anointed that has something close to what is been transferred
but there could also be cases that what is been transferred is not the exact texture of the of the
anointed. For example, many years ago, I received an impartation of a dimension in the healing ministry
in an encounter with Kenneth Hagin but as I finally stepped into the healing ministry by the
commissioning from God’s Spirit, the manifestation of that ministry had similarity with that of Kenneth
Hagin but there were variants in the overall expression. It is possible that one individual can receive this
kind of impartation encounters from more anointed in a dimension in ministry and therefore produce a
variant model of that anointing.

The most important thing to note here is that impartation is impartation; whether you receive it in
person or you got it by an encounter; an impartation is an impartation.

How to attract an impartation

It is possible to attract an impartation by hunger for a dimension of the anointing in the anointed and by
spiritual submission or service to the anointed. That is, when a person genuinely have an hunger for the
anointing upon the anointed, it can stir up an encounter for the impartation of that anointing upon the
person or when you submit to that anointed genuinely and honour the anointing upon the anointed, it
can also stir up an impartation of that anointing upon the anointed.

How to activate an impartation

There is this question I have been asked many times as to how to make the impartation you have
received, manifest in your own ministry experience physically because a lot of persons receive an
impartation in any of the three ways and they never see the manifestation of such impartations in their
lives in experience. To be sincere, I have also imparted persons that never showed physical signs that
they received an impartation afterwards. So, the question is, if I truly received an impartation, why am I
not seeing the manifestation in my life and ministry?

Impartation of anointing is a gift for your spirit

You have to first realize that an impartation of anointing is not for your body or soul, we are talking
about an impartation be placed upon your spirit. That is, the anointing been transferred becomes a part
of the spiritual activations in your own spirit after the impartation.

For this reason, when you receive an impartation, there are protocols of the anointing that must be
followed if the anointing will work for you. I am not referring here to the anointing you received by your
interactions with the Holy Spirit; I am strictly referring to the anointing that comes upon you by an
impartation from the anointed. There are protocols that guides the operation of this dimension of the
anointing that you must now if you will maximize it to the fullest.

Protocols of the anointing from Impartation

i. Heart to heart connection between the anointed and the receiver: You cannot operate in
the anointing of the one you despise and dishonour. In fact, that kind of impartation cannot
even successfully take place in the first place. The spirit realm is a realm of order and
protocols, so, no matter how close Gehazi gets to Elisha, because of the dishnour in his heart
for Elisha, the anointing of Elisha can never find physical expression in the ministry of
Gehazi. Even if Elisha lay his hands on him and say, I transfer all the anointing I carry upon
you by this impartation, that impartation will never take place because there is no heart-to-
heart connection. This is the reason why, unfortunately, sometimes the closest to the
anointed never carry the anointing of the anointed because of over familiarity that leads to
dishonour.

Let me give you a sincere counsel right here, just in case you have the mindset that you do
not need any form of impartations from any anointed and that you will build your own
anointing for yourself. That mindset will lead to frustration especially if you are into the
work of ministry. Check the scripture and you will see that no man runs ministry solo. Even
Jesus submitted himself to the Baptism of John the Baptist; Even Jesus as a baby was
prophesied upon by the Prophetess Anna in the temple (Luke 2:36-38). Don’t allow pride
make things hard for you. As much as you will get your unique anointings along the line,
every ministry on earth is an extension of a ministry that has been; different names and
denominations but before God, it is a continuation of a ministry on the earth. You cannot be
called to preach the word of faith and you despise the anointing of Patriarchs in that
 ministry because you will need an impartation of the generation before in that ministry to
represent that ministry to your own generation.

ii. Keeping the consecration of the anointing received: When a person is imparted, the first
thing the anointing does is to begin to stir in you, a new kind of spiritual desires and place
demands on you that may not be your natural default. Sometime in the past, I had the
opportunity to be imparted by a patriarch of faith and that impartation was specifically for a
life of unending prayers. A zeal to pray more and more and the moment I received that
impartation, it came with a constant burden for prayers. A long as I give in to that burden
and pray, I see the manifestation of that anointing in my life as it operates in the patriarch
but if on the other hand, I refuse to yield to the demands of that anointing, the anointing
will go dormant.

What I am saying is that, if you receive an impartation of the prophetic anointing upon you
and you begin to see into the realm by that impartation. If you don’t afterwards follow the
consecration of intimacy or solitude with God, that impartation will go dormant after a
while. Hence you hear people say, after that day, I did not see any vision again. Of course,
when Elisha prayed for the eyes of his servant to be opened to see into the spirit realm, we
have no record of that servant seeing any vision afterwards again (2 Kings 6:17). If you don’t
follow through with the consecration demand of the anointing you received, it may go
dormant.

So here is the wisdom, when next you receive any form of impartation, sit down later and
ask yourself, what is the consecration of the anointed that just imparted me? Don’t think
that just because he released it upon you, it will just begin to work automatically like that
without any demands on you; you go and ask around, you won’t find anyone operating in
the anointing that does not have their dos and don’ts. Oral Roberts was said to never talk to
anyone on his way to a healing meeting until after the service. Even his driver knows that
and will not attempt a conversation with him and all his ministry staff knew this and will just
allow him be. He will carry that silence straight from his prayer closet straight to the pulpit
and miracles will begin to happen by the anointing upon him. You received an impartation
from him and you are talking up and down on your way to a healing meeting and wonder
why it is not working with same precision. Every anointing has its consecration, you just find
it out and stick to it.

These two forms the foundation for successfully operating in the anointing from the
anointed that you received through impartation. There are more but with this two, you have
a sure proof to operate in the anointing received through impartations.
How to activate a dormant impartation

When you receive an impartation of the anointing and along the line, you notice that it has gone
dormant, it can be reactivated back to work in your life. The first thing is to run a check on the two
protocols explained above.

Is your honour for the anointed still intact? Listen, even if the anointed is dead, never dishonour the one
that imparted you or the anointing will stop responding to you. Joshua must continue to honour Moses
even in death. Elisha must continue to honour Elijah in death. See, this is not human worship but the
protocols of the spirit. When you break spiritual protocols, the spirit realm will resist you because acts of
rebellion are never condoned in the spirit realm. When Lucifer tried it, he lost his place. God will never
support a rebel even if you think you have a justifiable reason, this is why David never laid his hands to
hurt Saul because he was God’s anointed and his leader. You cannot rebel against the anointed and
think you will continually operate in the anointing you received by impartation. So, if you notice your
heart has been corrupted towards the anointed, the repent and make amends. Restore honour back for
the anointed in your heart and the anointing will; begin to work for you again. The spirit realm is a realm
of protocols, you cannot do whatsoever you like in that realm as there are patterns that must be
followed and God will never support rebellion.

Secondly, check if you are still following through with the consecration for the anointing you received.
Sometimes, we can become very busy doing ministry that we are not even aware when we start ignoring
our consecrations with God. We can get so busy that we no longer pray as our consecration demands. I
know of a patriarch that must pray for five hours in tongues before he goes out for public ministry
because it is the consecration he received from God and his ministry is characterized with strange acts of
God. If you are a follower of such a ministry and you received an impartation from him; you should
already know your portion; prayer! You must be ready to pray at length as well to see the dimension of
results that you love about his ministry. Sometimes, we think we can bypass consecrations and manifest
anointings. Try it, it will never work.

The spirit realm is rigid on protocols unlike the natural realm that always find another way to it. For
example, the moment God placed salvation as the only way to become a child of God, there is no other
way to it. You can be a good persona and avoid sin, yet, if you don’t receive Jesus into your life, you are
not a child of God because the spirit realm is rigid on protocols. If you notice the areas you have been
distracted from your consecrations, all you need to do is to repent and get back to consecration.

One of my personal consecrations is to spend more time with God than with men. I almost literally live
in the secret place when I am not traveling for ministry. My goal is not to be famous or known because I
know my consecration is in the secret place.
So, if you notice that the impartations you received has gone dormant, run these two checks first and
when you are settled on these two, then the third becomes the final step to reactivate the dormant
anointing your received by impartation

Step out in faith and use it

A lot of person even after impartation do not take specific steps of action to put the anointing to work. If
you say that you had an encounter and Kathryn Kuhlman appeared to you and imparted you with the
healing anointing that was upon her, then why have you not organized a healing conference? What
exactly are you waiting for? Did Kathryn Kuhlman pocket the anointing when she was on earth? If you
receive an impartation, you must take a step of faith and put it to work. Too many persons I have seen,
who say they were imparted by Reinhard Bonnke and yet you are not seeing them doing crusades
because they are expecting the anointing to work without them getting to work. If I received an
impartation from Reinhard Bonnke, I can assure you that within the next few days you will see me
organizing a major evangelistic campaign and even if you don’t have the money to do something big,
why not start with a street crusade with a small speaker and get the anointing to work? To many
persons brag about encounters they have had with patriarchs and yet you cannot find these encounters
manifest in their lives.

If truly you had an encounter, then what are you waiting for? When the Lord said to me many years ago,
from today, when you minister in the spirit, angels, will be visible to you so you can work with them,
then next service we had, I was screaming, angels of God touch touch touch like a mad man. I went to
work immediately. How can you receive an impartation of the prophetic anointing and you are not
prophesying in your next service? In short, organize a prophetic conference or service and use that
impartation!

I already taught you before that ministry gifts are never meant to be pocketed. Stop keeping those
impartations in your pocket. The body of Christ needs it; go and manifest. These signs will only follow
and not go before those that believe. You will take a step of faith to organize a healing service and then
the anointing will find expression in your life. Any anointing you do not use, whether your received it by
impartation or directly in your interaction with the Holy Spirit, if you don’t use it, it will go dormant.

I give you a charge this day, go and put your impartation to work! Go and start using those anointings
you have received and you will see signs and wonders manifesting in your ministry.

If you are a prophetic minister and you have not organized a prophetic conference before, go to the
Holy Spirit and get the date for the first one. He gave you that gift so you can use it. When you don’t use
it, then the people that need that gift will run to diviners for help because you are not giving them a
better alternative. What has a prophet got to do with just preaching and not manifesting his calling?
Don’t tell me that you are a teaching prophet; Sir, a prophet can also be a teacher but the prophetic part
of you should also be visible; give us a word from the Lord!

I write this to younger ministers; you need zeal for ministry if we can carry on the mantles of patriarchs
for your own generation. Else, we will slow down the revival God started through them. Use it online
and use it in the field. Go and heal the sick, go and do ministry.

In summary, you have not lost the anointing you received but you have not been using it. Go and start
using it, today.
