DESCRIPTION BITUMEN EMULSION 60% is a cold applied water based cationic bitumen emulsion applied by brush or spray. USES BITUMEN EMULSION is used to provide water resistant membranes to act as a seal for pavement layers and bases. it helps produce well cured concrete and prevents displacement of stone, etc. after laying. BITUMEN EMULSION is also used as a tack coat and may be used for grouting, lean mix curing, patching, sealing of formations and sub bases and for surface dressings for pavement work. ADVANTAGES * BITUMEN EMULSION meets the requirements of BS434 Part 1, 1984. The main use for BITUMEN EMULSION 60% is for the sealing and curing of pavement layers. For this, it is applied at the rate of 0.9 - 1.8ltr/m2. When grouting use 5.5 - 11.0ltr/m2 for a full grout and 3 - 8ltr/m2 for semi-grout, depending on the aggregate size and course thickness. When used to seal cement bound bases, sub bases and lean mix concrete, spread at the rate of 1 1.5ltr/m2 and then bind with 2 - 4kg/m2 of dust. STORAGE PROTECT FROM FROST The product will settle on standing. Therefore STIR WELL before use or roll drums. The longer it stands, the more it will settle. If stored as received in a cool, dry place, the shelf life is twelve months. PACKAGING PRODUCT DATA Colour: Coverage: Dark Brown See Method of Use Available in 5 litre, 25 litre and 200 litre containers. HANDLING BITUMEN EMULSION is non-flammable and nonhazardous in normal use. However, skin contact should be avoided by wearing protective gloves and outer clothing. The product may be removed from the skin when wet by water and soap, and when dry by using a proprietary hand cleaner. Eyes should be protected from splashes, by wearing goggles. In the event of contact with the eyes, irrigate immediately with clean water and seek medical attention. For further information, refer to the relevant Health and Safety Data Sheet.

METHOD OF USE Due to its high BITUMEN content, it should be used at the rate of approximately 0.3ltr/m2 when used as a tack coat. The film should be allowed to dry out completely before applying the overlay. The wet emulsion is brown, and the dry product is black. For patching when the wearing surface is open textured, seal using 0.9ltr/m2 and coat with grit or 6mm crushed rock. It is also used in patching when the prepared surface is porous or lacking in binder.
