Newsletter
No 5: 9th November 2012

Dear Parents/Carers - Its a warm welcome back and I do hope you managed to have a good half term break
and recharge the batteries ready for the next very busy seven weeks. Looking at the school diary just brought home how much is going on - Children in need, Anti-bullying week, the excited build up to the school Christmas fair and then finally our Christmas celebrations. This brought home to me how much the school asks of you as parents and carers at this time of year. I just wanted to say a big thank you to all of you for all your contributions; without them the school would not be able to provide such a broad and rich set of experiences for the children. A few parents have asked me about the Christmas pantomime. Unfortunately the school wont be attending this year, which I know may come as a disappointment to many of you.

PARENT QUESTIONNAIRE & FEEDBACK EVENING

The school plans to run an information evening on Thursday 22nd November starting at 7pm. The idea of this and similar future meetings is to: Provide information on specific aspects of the school so as to help support you as parents. Give an opportunity for feeding back progress on any issues raised by the school family and community.

A chance to ask questions and help set the

agenda for future meetings.

In this first meeting we plan to cover :

How the school measures academic

achievement - attainment & progress.

The new school report card. Initial feedback from the latest
questionnaire.

Hopefully you have all received the SCPA letter which was sent home last term and have now put the date in your diary to pop along to the Christmas Fair on Saturday 8th December 2012 from 11am. The boxes will be in each classroom to collect goodies for the hampers from the 19th November 2012. Suggestions are chocolates, candles, Christmas decorations, food/drink items, toiletries etc etc; anything you would like to get in a hamper! The class colours/themes are Cherry Red / Maple Gold / Ginkgo Green / Oak White/Sparkly / Willow Silver. As advised, empty jars, to be filled with goodies as you wish, are available from the school office. COOK 4 BOOKS Thank you to Willow Class who raised 40.20 at their recent cake sale. Parking Around School

As we are at the start of a new term, please may we remind parents to respect our neighbours when parking near the school. From time to time we do receive complaints please help us keep this to a minimum by not blocking drives and gateways and keeping clear of the zig-zag lines thank you

THE SCHOOL BUS

Please note that the school bus service is provided directly by Oxfordshire County Council, who are responsible for the bus contract not the school. Below are the contact details for OCC Integrated Transport Services. If you experience any problems with the bus service provided we would be grateful if you could report them directly to OCC. News from Gez Cornish in Richmond, N. Yorks

Having vanished from the life of St Christophers way back in July I thought I would seize this opportunity for a bit of free marketing space in the school newsletter! We have had a wonderful summer watching our house reduced to a dustcovered builders yard before re-emerging as a very lovely shell which we then spent hours painting, polishing and decorating. To see the results of our labours you can now visit our web site at: www.cordillerashouse.co.uk Or you can find us on Facebook at Cordilleras House B&B where you will find photos of the lovely surrounding area, and details of special winter offers to tempt you to our door. If you would like to contact us directly to complain about this blatant misuse of the schools newsletter as a marketing tool, or to say something a bit more positive, then we would love to hear from you, using our e-mail at: cordillerashouse@hotmail.co.uk Best regards Gez Cornish

If your family eats Nestle cereals, please remember to tear off the token on the top of the box and bring it in to school. It takes as little as 10 tokens to get one book so the more tokens we collect the more books we can receive for school thank you
