Dear Parents/Carers
Well, we are now in the full swing! Children have started to become accustomed to the rhythm and pace of school life and I have had lots of opportunities in sharing in their learning experiences. It is always a special experience when a child comes running up to you wanting to share what they have learnt and achieved. It was a little concerning to find fantastic foxes, green Oompa-Loompas and big giants, fortunately friendly, had invaded our school last Thursday. A big thank you to Mrs Cookson for organising our Roald Dahl day and helping us to celebrate the work of such a wonderful childrens author. I know the children really enjoyed dressing up and secretly I think the staff and parent volunteers also did!

DINNER REGISTERS are taken in class every morning. The children tell the teacher whether they are having dinners (hot school meal) or sandwiches. There have been a few instances of children being recorded as sandwiches but actually having dinners, and vice versa. Please could you help minimise this problem by reminding your child whether they are dinners or sandwiches in the morning, as unfortunately, this does cause confusion and may result in parents being charged for meals not taken thank you.

Obviously, the school plays it's part in teaching our children about all aspects of safety, but as parents and carers you are in the best position to secure your child's understanding of road safety, because you spend the most time with them. Please use every opportunity when out walking to ask your children questions on what they are seeing and hearing in the traffic environment. Let your children make their own choices and decisions wherever possible at the roadside. Oxfordshire County Council have published a leaflet to help with teaching your child these vital life skills. We have put a copy of this guide on our website. It can be found at :www.st-christophers.oxon.sch.uk/index.html

YEAR 6 RESIDENTIAL VISIT TO THE PIONEER CENTRE MONDAY 11H MARCH 2013 FRIDAY 15TH MARCH 2013
As you may already be aware, the school is delighted that it has booked the Pioneer Centre again as our residential visit for 2013 for children who are in Year 6. If you were unable to make the presentation evening last term, the visit this year was a great success and the children who attended would be the first to agree that it was a fabulous experience and opportunity. The Pioneer Centre is an Activity Centre in Shropshire run by Action Centres UK. This year, the children enjoyed activities such as abseiling, archery, high ropes, and fencing. All the activities take place on the extensive site and are fully supervised by trained instructors. If you have not already signed up and would like your child to participate in this visit then please return the slip attached, along with a 50 non-refundable deposit.
